Just spent nearly 3 weeks with Reaver

So I got bored of ground fights and decided to take myself to the air. After 3 weeks of using the Reaver and upgrading it to AB2, Composite Armor 2, Decoy Flares 1, and the Vortek primary, I have to say that the Reaver is a piece of junk used for target practice.

Let's get started, the Reaver has the biggest hitbox out of all three ESFs and literally flies like a brick when it first starts off with no certs put into it. Let's not forget that all three ESFs have the same health and armor. The Vortek, well, let's just say the bullets that come out from that thing travel slow and the crosshair is a bit off.

So what is the Reaver good for? Target practice for the enemy?

I can shoot down reavers and mossies in 10 seconds with my NC and TR Char.

It takes me 30-40 secs to kill sycthes with my ESF's main gun

if that doesn't tell you something about the imbalance about the air to air fights then what will

Sycthe hit box is like less than half that of a reavers... Plus Sycthes small hit box makes A2A missiles never hit. I don't use A2A missiles though but still

No, it flies like a house.

  4. soeguud

Don't use afterburner secondary. Either A2A missiles or rocket pods. You'll actually be able to blow stuff up.
  5. Rendezvous

Who said I use External AB? I switch constantly between Rockets and A2A missiles.

I've also spent the better part of a month learning to fly the Reaver and the ins and outs of aerial combat. In a head-to-head dogfight with a Scythe, you will lose 9/10 times unless you get the jump on him and he's bad. Mosquitos, the odds improve to less than half. The only way to succeed as a Reaver pilot is to stay within friendly airzones and wait for enemy aircraft to overcommit or get greedy for a kill and become distracted. You're a vulture, not a hawk. If you start taking fire, dive to the canyon walls and afterburn your butt back to the warpgate. Rinse and repeat.

never die to other vehicle' infantry in an esf before at least getting a handfull of kills...

i would say the esf are very balanced.

    libs is another story.

I can't tell if you people are being serious sometimes. Though you may think it works, exaggeration hurts your point. Some of the claims here are laughable.

I think the Reaver has it's advantages as well. They feel a little heavier and fly differently. I use the hover air frame and often use sudden stops and maneuver's to trick the opponent. If you can take a mossies tail close in you can't lose it. Now kill him before he runs :)

Flying is not for bads that don't know how to allocate certs or fly the dam thing. Dogfighting 3, either rocket pods or A2A missiles, default nose gun, night vision on all guns, max ammo, flares. Reload speed, composite armor and other creature comforts if you can spare the certs.

If you fly with a ****** secondary like afterburners you're going to get your face wrecked.

If you don't have a good airframe you're going to get your face wrecked.

If you don't have flares, you're going to get your face wrecked by A2A missiles.

    L2P you whiner.

I don't always use A2A missiles because rocketpodding is way more fun, and I can still wreck ESFs and libs with rocket pods. But when I do pull my dedicated AA, and I lock onto an ESF, shoot my missile and have the guy get hit in 2 seconds I think who the hell doesn't have flares? Now I know.

We'r being quite serious. The Reaver is a joke. The only thing it's supposed to have going for it is harder hitting. But in reality it doesn't hit much harder, the aim is slightly off and we've told the devs that since beta, It's got the ****iest speed of all the ESFs, the worse turn ratio and the bigest hitbox. In theory it's **** and in practical use it's a flying turd. It's just another one of the many underpowered NC assets.

He said AB2 upgrade not secondary AB you numbnuts. Did you even read his post?
  14. Col_Jessep

I put a fair amount of certs and some sc into my Reaver and I still feel that it handles worse in every way than the stock Scythe that I pulled out of interest on a freshly made Vanu account. Actually the Reaver handles so much worse that I'm unhappy every time I get one after I had a comparison to the Scythe. I don't dare to make a TR account and test the Mossies - that might make me quit for good.

I'm still hoping that the developers will realize at some point that agility and good handling are much more important in air to air battles than short bursts of ABs. Hopefully soon, I'm losing interest in playing PS2 already.
  15. Rendezvous

Here we go again with the L2P. I never said I use secondary AB. I meant I have AB2 in the certs. Read my thread again, I posted what my current load up is. I do have flares.

As for the people getting hit by your A2A missiles 2 seconds after you launch one, they must not know how to speed up then. I rarely use my flares because I can just hit AB and duck over a mountain and turn back to fight again.

Yea, and I said spending certs on afterburner is a bad thing to do. As in, something bads do. The guy doesn't have flares or even a measly level 1 airframe but he's got certs to waste on afterburner? The he comes in here and complains that reaver is underpowered? Listen, buddy, YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO FLY ESFs IN THIS GAME. You are the LAST person to talk about balance.
  17. NOX2097

I think I've played maybe an hour on that account since November. I don't feel like sharing my TR account with you. Like I said, learn to play, crier.
  18. Rendezvous

Maybe it's because your TR account is even worse, who knows. And just from you saying you're TR just shows you're biased towards TR ESF.

You coming in reading my thread wrong and then claiming you're better than everybody here without evidence that you have a TR account just shows how much ego you have.
And about the other reply you made to another user here saying I don't have flares, you gotta read again. The Reaver is a flying brick going 30-40 KPH slower than the Mossy by default. I have a level 2 vertical thrust airframe and I honestly don't feel is best for dogfighting since it will just slow you down faster when you brake, making you an easier target, hence why I switched to AB. As NC with Reavers, it's either we upgrade our speed up to par with TR's mossy speed, or we use the other two airframe. Those are all preference.
  19. NOX2097

All that website will tell you is someone's KD. All I can tell from your profile is you play very carefully not to die, i.e. not playing the objective or being a team player. That's it.
  20. Rendezvous

You can ask anybody from NC on my server if I'm a team player. I almost always have to follow orders. If you say standing on the point, leading squads, and compromising generators and SCUs are not factored into team play, then Idk what you would consider to be team play. I row with platoons in my outfit, so I have to follow orders otherwise I will be kicked, especially with DVS.
