I hate the ZOE, it was a terrible idea in the beginning and it's still a terrible idea now. The only reason VS maxes can't have their original ability back is not that it would be "OP" according to some stupid developer(s), but because it will make light assault obsolete. In other words, delay the abilities even more until light assaults get an update to actually make them viable. TL;DR: Update light assault/infiltrator before giving maxes their faction specific abilities.
No no see most TR hate the striker as much as we do so it's not a fair compromise. Actually I don't think TR like any of their weapons... maybe that's why they hate fun on others >_> In all seriousness though... If we can't have jumpjets, charge, shield, lockdown, lockdown variant (ZOE) or speed in general... seriously... What -will- players be okay with? So much anger and whining but so few suggestions or compromises that don't just turn the power into a worthless blanket power.
Can someone explain why jump jets on a max are good. I think jump jets on a max would be useless. What would I do with them let everyone hear and see me so I can die faster? Engineers can't get on rooftops and when a big ole max is up there he's an easy target for everything to shoot at. (ESFs tanks light assaults rockets and all small arms)
Not sure honestly! I just look at the composite armour and go "that thing needs to fly!" I never played PS1 so no idea how OP it actually was or wasn't (though I think part of the deal was that all MAXs were immune to none armour piercing rounds so if you didn't have one you literally couldn't hurt one) Mostly I'd use them to rush over terrain, over walls, gen on top of a building or just find somewhere to shoot from that the enemy doesn't expect. Being unable to bring an engi with you would sorta balance that out as unless you have nano repair you wouldn't be able to stay there forever. I see it as positioning and utility where as lockdown is offense and shield is defense. We wouldn't get more damage or more defense, just more "oh crap what is a max doing there- argh! *dead*"
Pretty much that, thats what PS1 Maxes were about, just forgoing the safety of a repair or even other allies to just get a flank and try to loosen a solid defense by attacking from an angle they wouldn't expect. Even if it was just as simple as jumping up to the wall instead of taking the stairs.
Maxes could just...stay the way they are. I was getting my balls smoked by scats again last night, but also strung a solid Mercy streak. I don't really understand why they need lock down, Shields or turbo death machine ... Or flight. It's stupid hard to balance, but I guess more variety is better. Hopefully it won't throw things off too much.
