I about to hit my Phobos Auraxium soon and will be able to buy either of the above. I have no idea which one though. Please help....
Jump jets 5, best investment for LA is their ability. The default gun is good enough anyway, the SF version can wait for when you have more certs.
The SF gives you more versatility in your class provided you have the certs for the underbarrel attachments. Mind that the underbarrel grenade launcher and shotgun are potential one shot kills. The Smoke launcher attachment almost always needs the NS/NV scope. So that's another 100-130 certs depending on which barrel attachment you want to go for first. If you unlock the SF, you'll also be able to use it on your engineer, which is wonderful since ammo packs resupply your underbarrel ammo. That said, the jumpjets are what makes the Light Assault the Light Assault. If you are some kinda dedicated Light Assault player, go with the Jets.
Jump Jets. Max it out as quickly as possible if you want to have any hope of using the LA class effectively and to it's fullest potential.
Unless you already Auraxiumed the Solstice Ve3 and have no other guns you can also Auraxium, buy the Jump Jets! I also don't know why you took so long to upgrade the Jump Jets, getting Auraxium on the Phobos should give enough Certs on the way to get it. I personally also do not like the Solstice SF on my Light Assault, but other people do. It is all personal preference.
I'd get Drifter jets to level 4. Drifters outclass Jump jets in versatility but have a higher learning curve.
Max level of drifter jets doubles the fuel time, they're useless if you can't max them. Also makes it literally impossible to go up anything. You can't drift up walls anymore And you have to already be really high up to actually be useful
jj5 It changes what you can do much more drastically. You want to get as close to the final product as quickly as possible so you have the most time to learn your limits and capabilities. Then you can worry about flashy new toys and the like.
False, false and false. >95% of the time you don't need the extra fuel; the point of drifter jets is to improve your movement speed and to give you more entrance/exit options around facilities. These things can be accomplished with the fuel capacity of the second to last level. And even if you did need the last rank for drifter jets to be useful, you'd still have to buy the first four levels first, so I don't see how that changes anything. Just start saving for the last level then if it's that important. It is not "impossible to go up anything". Going up a 90 degree wall might be tricky, but you can still go up any obstacle that isn't perfectly vertical. And no, you don't have to be really high up. You can use drifter jets to improve movement speed on flat ground. You can use jump pads and grav lifts to get height. As I said, drifters have a higher learning curve, and based on your comments, you're still at the starting point of that learning curve.
I'm gonna be getting the Solstice SF in the next hour or so, UBLs are just icing on the cake for a versatile firearm - I love the burst fire on it (especially the audio, when not suppressed, burst and semi auto shots are a lot "gruntier" than full auto, same for the Equinox AR and Flare LMG), NV, 2x reflex and 6x scope are all available, with both ammo types available to support the setup. I was originally getting this for when I play LA to add more smoke, but I think I'll have just as much using it as engineer on ammo packs ;D
