It's great that the Striker got needed buffs so quickly, but why is the Spiker still unusable?

    The New Striker have been out for a week and SOE have already made changes to it on a lot of areas to improve it.

    The Spiker have been out for, what, 2 months? It is an even more unusable piece of junk than the Striker and have gotten no response whatsoever.

    Higby said that if everything goes as planned, the Spiker will be seeing some buffs Next Month. Why did it take 1 week to realize the Striker was bad, and 3 months to do something about the Spiker?

    Was it because we didn't spam enough refund demands, and "I'm leaving the game" threads on the forums?

    By the time you auraxium the Candygun, the Spiker will be in pristine condition.

    Spiker is on deck. October update should have Spiker update/fix (likely firemode selector to get rid of trigger delay on spam shooting when not using it to charge up).

    Be prepared for a CoF bloom over sustained fire nerf to PPA though. (hopefully with a minor RoF buff as well :p )

    IMO that would put the PPA in a good place actually, to increase RoF and bloom CoF, it'd force users to have shorter, but more effective, quicker bursts, then pause to let CoF reset, so it provides windows of opportunity for enemies to run past.

    Usually, launchers have more pull in battles than pistols. It's just a given. Plus, there's no telling with SOE. They do weird stuff whenever they want.



    If they are buffing it, that's good! I've decided to use it instead of the beamer/manticore/cerberus. It's too slow imo.

    Well, I just took a look at the sidearm section of the OracleOfDeath. The Spiker is actually not doing bad at all, and in the right hands (Q4) performing better than a lot of other sidearms.

    Good players are good at farming noobs. That's the only thing that stat proves.

    It doesn't need a "buff" so much as it needs a fix to it's mechanics. Charge up is a cool gimmick when you can actually get away with it's noisy ambush. It's burst fire needs the delay removed though, and it'll still be the statistically weakest burst pistol to compensate for it's charging ability

    No. KPU, Q4 or not is meaningless on its own and people need to stop with spamming these stats without any sense of the factors that affect these things. Who is using it, where/when/why they're using it, etc. etc. All new weapons tend to have higher stats for a brief period of time as high BR players auraxium them for kicks.

    All you need to recognize that the Spiker is bad is to use it on live.

    If it was really a good weapon many more VS would've finally replaced their commissioners with it for a more spammy CQC pistol like the TR's Repeater and NC's Desperado. Instead, it has pitiful number of hours used - only above special $$$ only weapons and the directive weapons because it's simply a bad gun.

    Spiker is only lethal if you ambush someone from close range in the back with a charge up shot though.

    It's like a noisy, harder to use, more penalized for missing, shotgun. (then again, short of the noisy part, that could describe the Mag-Scatter too. Lack of 'noisy chargeup' + delay included makes Mag-Scatter 5x better for Stalkers though)

    It took over a year for the Magrider to actually perform what it was suppose to instead of being OP. And it took months for ZOE to be fixed while ZOE MAXes ran roughshod over everything in the game. Don't expect timely balance from the devs even on the most obvious imbalances.

    You mean it took over a year to revert the Magrider to what it was before the catastrophic CU2 that ruined it completely. And it took months for ZOE to be ruined to worthlessness.

    I got the Spiker just after release - and I have to say, it's not actually as bad to use as I thought it would be.

    I have outfitted most of my loadouts with it - and seem to have been much more successful killing enemies with it than I ever did with the commissioner. I have been caught with my pants down a few times - and have managed to come off quite well in quite a few encounters.

    I have said all along that my play style suits rapid firing weapons over high damage slow ROF ones (hence why I have always coveted the Repeater and I wish it had been an NS weapon) - my relative success with the Spiker would seem to support this. Two things however.

    1. I would welcome a toggleable fire mode - the fire on release whilst not game breaking - is annoying.
    2. I very rarely use the charge function - and even when I have, I haven't found it to be terribly effective.

    Personally I would like to see the Spiker as a proper burst fire weapon. Remove the charge function all together give the gun a couple of extra shots per burst (with a slight damage reduction per shot). I don't hate the charge mechanic concept per-se - but it doesn't feel right on a pistol.

    I sort of agree with you. The Spiker definitely needs some love. As does ZoE among other things.
    But tbh the Striker has been bad for longer than a week.
    The recent revamp is a (still ongoing) effort to improve it, and the quick "1 week buff notice" is just a continuation of that,
    as they said they were going to monitor performance after the change and tweak as needed.

    I think if you pull up the stats, the Magrider is now on par with the Vanguard and Prowler. And the MAXes are also balanced against each other.

    What you said is just subjective and biased opinion. Those stats are posted everywhere and floating around the forum.

    The VS have not gotten a buff for months, the TR have gotten buffs every single patch.

    The Striker have been nerfed 3 times, and now got a rework. ZOE got nerfed 4 times, and the last nerf was 9 months ago and utterly killed it alltogether.

    The TR have been buffed on lockdown, anchor, Striker, every single infantry weapon, MCG, Marauder etc.

    The VS is the LEAST popular faction and have always been. The TR whined about underpop when they had 33 %, while the VS had been struggling at 25% for a year.

    Yeah, wow. The Magrider needs two players to operate to a degree where it can go against a single occupied enemy tank. Does that mean that the Striker is great right now, you just need to use twice as many people as any other launcher?

    The Lasher doesn't have more utility than the MCG due to the fact that you spend 50% of your time with it weapon locked or dead. A weapon useful in 1/100 scenarios is not a weapon with "High utility."

    The Magrider is now on par with the other two MBTs. Emphasis on now. It took a bit over a year to revert the CU02 changes that nerfed the Magrider to free kill status.

    As for the MAXes, depends if you are talking about AI or AV. For AI, they are on par. For AV, the TR is the best performing, followed by the NC and the VS lagging behind. Regarding empire specific traits, they are all situational. NC is the only useful one for everyday gameplay, followed by extremely situational AV circumstances for the TR one. VS is downright useless and a way to tell if somebody does not understand the game.

    obviously your new,
    prowlers have gotten massive buffs (projectile speed, rof, tank speed, reverse speed, turret turn speed, the old minigun prior to it being fixed was buffed to the point where the entire community was sick of the damn things one clipping galaxies out of the sky ffs

    the magrider had a hatchet taken to its mobility, its main gun, the saron, its hover height, its strafe speed, its strafe acceleration
    the PPA has already been massively nerfed
    ZOE was nerfed out of exsistence
    the lasher was nerfed
    they even nerfed our faction colors ffs and slapped teal all over our ****

    and yet still there are people lobbying to have the no bullet drop nerfed, the orion nerfed, they'd have us be ******* pink next
