Is it just me, or are slugs completely useless now?

    I dont know about factions other than Vanu (never got slugs on my alt chars) but with the recent update it seems to me that slugs have been nerfed to oblivion. Previously I bought a shotgun with slugs to use with LA, and it was actually pretty useful, letting my light assault take out snipers and AFK players pretty far away. However, the new bullet drop seems pretty extreme. I can no longer hit targets far away (where snipers would be) and up close the slugs are completely outclassed by carbines and normal shotguns. Overall, slugs are now completely useless due to bullet drop and vanu LA have lost their only long range option. Does anyone agree?

    the other factions have been dealing with slugs like that since release and doing fine

    VS got the slug treatment of the other factions. VS is not allowed to have its no bullet drop where it counts apparently.

    Did you read this before you posted it?

    You were taking out snipers "far away" with shotguns... think about that.

    Slugs are fine, they just require some skill. They're one of my favorite playstyles, and one that requires some skill (since you need headshots really). The nanoweave changes are a huge buff to slugs.

    Well, you finally get what us NC and TR has been having for ages.

    From patch notes:
    Other Changes
    • Added bullet drop to VS Shotgun slug ammo because the gravity-free projectiles have been outperforming the other two factions by a large margin
    So yeah, this change feels justified. Although I do agree that the drop on slugs is a bit over the top.

    Vanu must have had lots of fun with no drop slugs. :eek:

    I think the way they nerfed it is quite unfactional, but a nerf is very justified. Personally, I would suggest giving the VS slugs a much larger damage drop-off than other slugs to compensate for laser precision.

    Agreed. I main NC and i don't much see the point in this, especially when there are plenty of alternative approaches such as increasing damage falloff, reducing bullet velocity even if it's by something silly, reducing clip to 1 shot or something.

    I hardly think sniper shotguns are a flagship advantage. I think they are ridiculous. You have no drop on your other weapons still. You still have your faction 'advantage'. Deal.

    I guess it was the only weapon for which no bullet drop had any meaningful effect.

    and your high ROF weapons take away the point the TR's faction trait... blame it on the people who can't handle asymmetrical balance




    their BASRs have drop for pretty much the same reason...
