Is infantry combat evolving to hipfire preference?

All weapons have the same movement speed while hip firing.
On the other hand, CQC weapons have better hip firing COFs and laser attachements.

As said before, its mainly due bad FPS, but still yes it is. Hip firing has too long range
  3. lilleAllan

uh what? That depends on the weapon and most weapons make significant sacrifices for hipfire accuracy.

Grenade bundle and 4 Medusa grenades works wonders against adadad SPAM.

Still I usually try to avoid infantry combat. Models of enemies are delayed by 300ms or much more on laggy players. Combine that with client side hitreg and you die dozen of stupid deaths.

Hit by a grenade inside a room you have been half a second ago.
    Ohk by automatic rifle fire.
Getting killed by wanted bullets that go around corners.
    Die behind cover.
People that shoot you with their back facing towards you.
Enemies that walk inside spwan rooms because shields didn't load fast enough.
    And so on.

I am impressed so many people enjoy this cqc lagfest.

Hipfiring at 30m with an SMG is tasty cheese.
  6. Stride

Any smg over a shotty for short range? Sounds like a bad decision.

I'd definitely like to see a swing back to ADS, but I don't know how you'd achieve it. Maybe remove COF from ADS fire, leaving only true recoil? Then again, that would outright break a few weapons, making them OP as all hell. Don't know how I'd change it. If anyone has any thoughts, throw them in

I run foregrip on all my weapons except Hailstorm which I don't use anyway because it's just bad. Generally I just prefer ADS especially with weapons with .75x ADS movement, and they usually have a good hipfire accuracy already. Great when you get caught off-guard. ADAD shuffle helps too.

Hip firing a weapon is useful, but ADS will always prove superior in any situation. I only hipfire my weapon if I am surprised, or I know I will be unable to track my target if I aim down sights. Advanced laser sights are also overrated, the forward grip almost always gives a greater advantage aside from SMGs.

Possibly new base designs are evolving to favour more close range encounters. Interlink on Hossin seems to have much less open areas for longer range fire than tech plants or amp stations. Even though it is quite large I was running around it in an event with an SVA-88 and never really felt like there was a time I would rather be using a Gauss SAW.

But the main preference for close range combat might come from the fact that it is pretty fast paced and leads to a lot more kills than situations where you have groups of people hiding behind a rock or something.

I can count the number of times I die to someone actually shoulder firing each night on one hand, and I die a lot

I've gone back to HA from LA recently. Currently enjoying a good Hipfire weapon w/ ALS but also a 3.4x Red Dot so I can snipe by tapping the trigger. Don't kill much from long range, but I put down enough accurate fire to take out an overconfident sniper and get other classes running for cover.

That said, I used to prefer a good ADS weapon on my HA, but had to make the switch since to many TR/VS could just turn and hipfire me down if I took them by surprise. Now, I notice if I get caught off guard I stand a decent chance to turn and hipfire them down.

Revert the attachment tweaks(stealthnerf to high DMG/low ROF weapons) as a start.

i havent fought in cqc situations often , and i think it anything below 4x scope is useless . (i prefer 6x when i can )

edit : in cqc TR mini uzi pistol is super . thats a true and best cqc gun.

Or just having 2 different CoF calculations, one Hip CoF and one ADS CoF ?

Close range weaps would have a shorter gap between both, which would make them less usefull past medium range.

Harder hitting weapons would have a better ADS CoF allowing longer distance combat easier while sacrificing mobility at close ranges due to bad CoF

Also, what about giving higher magnifition scopes a small CoF reduction ? This would give more opportunities to use long-range scopes (which are almost useless right now) over the common reflex scopes.

This is so incredibly false it's funny. You're just making your head easier for people to hit when you ADS at reasonably close-enough-to-hipfire-range.
  17. DeadliestMoon

Not as much at me pal.
  18. DeadliestMoon

You know I never really got the whole ADAD thing, in a one on one firefight that only really helps if someone is aiming for your head, but really they should be aiming for the chest.
  19. Aegie

Well, until they fix the nonsense ADS for all the scopes but the HSNV and long range sniper rifles I would say yes.

Part of the issue for me, as I like to play more of a sharpshooter role, is that you have 100% accurate information when hipfiring. When hipfiring you are given 1) a perfectly accurate crosshair that is centered on the center of the COF (the center of the screen), 2) the size of the crosshair reflects the size of the COF and 3) unbelievably you are also given a "shoot when the crosshair turns red" heads up. When ADS with anything other than the HSNV or long range sniper rifles (the overlay ADS scopes) then the crosshair will move away from center when you move or turn and this is misleading because the center of the COF is always the center of the screen. Combine this with the fact that in ADS without the HSNV scope then as LA any jump jet motion brings the gun graphics all over the place often obscuring the center of the screen where your bullets are still aimed.

Personally, this is garbage and diminishes my enjoyment playing the game since the most important mechanics in any FPS are the gun mechanics and having misleading sights when ADS (when you are doing everything in your power to be more accurate) is so frustrating I no longer play.

So yeah, hipfire has always been king in PS2 and it seems it always will.

Just run and gun with everyone else and enjoy your easymode aiming system.

Shut up Tristan this guy is onto something.

Now, personally when I see an enemy I like to shoot into the air to frighten them into submission.
