Alright, first of all I just want you to know, I'm in no way a veteran PS2 player, and I'm not even a high level. I would consider myself a decent player and by far the Sniper Infiltrator is my favorite class/sub-class to play. I realize every class has several ways to play and can fulfill multiple rolls, and the other classes have really great cert upgrades for each separate way of playing, except the Sniper. I don't hack and I don't ghost cap enemy bases. I snipe, that is all I do with my infil and that's what I LOVE doing. However, when delving into the certs a little, I find that everything is centered around other ways of playing. Sure, I can buy a million different scopes for each sniper rifle, or a silencer, but I don't feel like the sniping aspect of the class gets much attention. I would love to see some more certs centered around sniping. Perhaps increasing how long you can hold your breath to steady your shot, reducing the recoil on all sniper rifles, attachments for rifles that increase range/decrease bullet drop, or armor piercing rounds that do extra damage to heavier armored units. These are just a few suggestions for the sniping class and I would really like to see something centered around this in the game.
I like those cert ideas, especially the sway and recoil. I also like to think of certs for snipers that would help fulfill an "infiltrator" role. Sure they might not be able to hack from so far away, but I'd like to see increased spotting abilities and eventually laser-designation for arty or aircraft. Anything to contribute to the team.
I really like the armor piercing idea. Something that could really damage MAX units from a distance. Maybe not OHK with a Bolt-action, but some heftier damage would be nice
Sounds like the Anti-Materiel Ammunition cert that was never implemented in Beta. It traded a good chunk of Infantry damage for the ability to deal a lot of armor damage. That's the concept anyway.
good suggestions. however, to keep sniping a challenging skill rather than just a point and shoot I feel scope sway and bullet drop should remain, especially at long distances, no matter how many certs you spend. armor piercing rounds is a great idea. if you cert into this option for example, it would be cool to be able to headshot maxs'. reload speed could perhaps be increased too through certs. also maybe the infiltrator can have an emp gun or something that can disable vehicles for a few seconds since infiltrators quite often are lone-wolfing and can do little other than cloak and run when a vehicle shows up.
been thinking about "something with dead/death name" ammo. for snipers. More or less if HS kill = target cannot be rezed by medics. Makes snipers more useful than free certs for the medic right next to the target you just HSed.
GSZenith, Personally, I really like that idea a lot! I'd personally like to see it for the Scout Rifles too, since there's currently no ammo slot open to them and that would make killing the people actually worth something.
In an earlier FNO Jimmy actually said that all classes will be able to choose their own specific role more closely once implants get added, he mentioned infiltrators will be able to cert into CQC or sniping as they so choose, this is something I'm very much looking forward to.

What about a tripod? To increase range/reload time but means you must be stationary whilst it is deployed? Kinda like the prowler.
Whoa boy. Slow down a sec. Increased Range/Power are only good if they further increase the rendering distance. I've already shot someone who didn't render until he got back on his ATV. Longer range would have allowed me to hit him with my 1st instead of 7th bullet but that's about it. This game just isn't made to be friendly for snipers
Ok, perhaps an increase in velocity and reload speed. Since you are imobile. 200-300 certs or something. Must remain crouched while in use.And deploy time. So it has both an upside and a down side. Meaning you have to choose when and how you use it. Or perhaps giving you an ability to hold scope sway longer. Or not needing to drop the scope to rechamper with a bolt action. Enagling faster firing while "deployed"
I would welcome a deploy option into a prone stance to minimize weapon sway, coming with a bipod for the rifle. Make the ability cost 200 certs and the bipod 100 further certs. Keep in mind though that you are the easiest target to backstab while prone.
I support all of these ideas, variety is always a good thing. So long as there is still a fair amount of challenge with the final levels of certification. The last thing I want to see is halo1 style sniping where you can jump scoped in and still get a cross map headshot.
