Infiltrator Side 2

--> I didn't manage to find statistics on class played
--> I haven't kept up to date on how classes have been nerfed or buffed over time

So this is simply a gut feeling, and it feels like every where I go, if it's a small 2 vs 2 fight or a medium one, I'm always fighting against infiltrators...

In large scale fights I don't see that though in those fights it's mostly heavies.

    Two questions :

    a) anyone know where I can get stats that would either confirm or counter what I'm feeling? (even though over all player stats wouldn't really show if infiltrators are very much used in small to medium fights and not so much in larger ones because they would just show the overall stats).

    b) Is it a problem?

For me yes, for you? I don't think it was intended that infiltrators be the main fighting force in fights that are smaller than large scale and it doesn't seem right to me. Plus I don't like fighting an army of infiltrators...

Disclaimer : I'm not QQing for a nerf, I don't have an issue with their balance in general, I'm just noticing the high population which wasn't there before..
  2. Fredfred

What, IMO, it is always heavies in small fights.
  3. Money

Anytime I wander over to Hossin, it's like Spy vs Spy. No matter if I'm defending or attacking, all I hear is the Cloak [On]/off sounds for each empire.
  4. DarkStarAnubis

On a 2 vs 2 (kind of skirmish between two patrols) you do not need an engineer (no vehicles as I understand it) or a medic (only another guy to patch and while you are doing it, nobody will cover you) and it is not a target-rich environment (only 2 bad guys) so an HA would be not so useful... I would go Infiltrator and play hide-and-seek maybe in stalker mode, IMHO makes some sense.

Medium and above always HA since in that outfit you can deal with pretty much everything except MBTs.

Side note about Infiltrators: despite any cloak I noted you can find them just by looking at likely spots and pressing 'Q', if there is someone there the triangle appears, no need of a darklight flashlight: seems a bug to me.

    jep feel same here.

on cobalt last time you see 50% -60%, only infils class
in small fights, this class now op, because 12-12 fights, you got motionspotter, stealth class, aut aim comp and (a new onefor make game total noobish) now smg.
Play with it, you will have lowest KD of 2-3, Play it good and a KD of 5 or higher you will have.
Against, Sani, Engii, LA the Infil very op now, only class you can Play is HA.

HA (and infil) class in large fights, the only class, who you can own.

The Point is the Dev, broke that game for Mainstream Player (russ), but they dit a very bad Job.
Now you can only Play 2 classes for get a goof KD and Infil, for the best KD.

I say to time, Infil is much more powerfull that an HA, now they get SMG for middelrange, so you can`t see them bevor he fire, and he makes much dmg now.

Motto is, if you can`t get a kill, so Play infil, and you will have some kill ;D

You know that the Infiltrator is just the Third most played Class on EVERY Server?

Place 1 is Heavy Assault (What a suprice)...Statistics had shown that Heavy is played up to 26%...

Place 2 is Engineer (who could thought of that, it is counted as Infantry and not Tank driver)

    Place 3 is Infiltrator...

    Place 4 is Light Assault

    Place 5 is Medic...(sad truth)

Also the Infiltrator is more balanced than a pathetic Heavy Assault....if it would be not true then Infiltrator would be the most played class (PRETTY LOGIC RIGHT?)

So keep calm and think twice.

    Btw some Questions:

Do you know that the Motion Spotter got nerfed hard?

What is a "aut aim comp"?

On what prooven Statistics do you get your 50%-60% Infiltrator Pop on Cobalt?

Do you even play the game?
  7. Kopulator

There's more cloakers in smaller fights, most are flankers and hackers. However, I've seen lots of Heavies and Light Assaults in every fight. That said...lots of cloakers get rekt there are so many counters to them.

tell me the hard nerfs?, still 50 meters, still every time hole Position.
only the update go from 1 of 1,5 sec and for your mates, got some nerf.
so is that a hard nerf?
motionspotter still op in small fights, he should cost resources 75 nanites, thats wold be fair.

    so next ****t your statistics.
you guys wride by your self, this is now 1 year old.
but we talk about now, after the buff of infiltrator.
look VS on cobalt, to time i Play it, last fight 12- 15 infils, 5 HA and 1 Sani. we got more motionspotter than Sani and engiii. but you guys say it all ok.
no somthign is wrong, if one class own all other class 1v1, and if you loos vs HA, with infil (+ your motionspotter + SMG ) than is it not the class who suck.
    as example, by my self.
    HA i got a KD of 2.
    Infil i got a KD of 5.-6
Engii ( to time i Play this class) KD 1- 1.6

this game, if you belive or not, is brocke with infil class, and look at Server statistics, many People Thing same, but they leav.

erm and i don`t know why, HA is for you guys so a big Problem, Headshots he got same HP wie an Sani.
i don`t have any Problems if i come with my Sirius, backside or frontal.

thing about the stats, as I said in my OP, they don't really work in this case.

Imagine (it's what I think, but let's imagine it's true) most players spend more time as infiltrators in small and medium fights than any other class (not large scale.

Imagine (this one I'm guessing) most infantry players spend most large scale fights as heavies.

Now imagine (this one I'm not sure about, but for the sake of the argument) that most players spend more time in large scale fights than small or medium fights.

The statistics would show that "most players mostly play heavies" (because most of their time is spent in large scale fights most players play heavies in those fights).

It's kinda like the engineer. Most players play engineer when in a vehicle. Stats show 20% that doesn't mean 80% represents players in vehicles but not as engineers.

Anyway I'm not really bothered by how strong or weak infiltrators are, however maybe there are other things that would influence their popularity?

I started playing during the beta and quit in the summer of 2013 because all my firends left. When I started playing again last year I was surprised how many infils were running around.

In the first couple of months after release the render distance was something like 100m or even shorter so there was no reason to use sniper rifles and we had no SMGs that time.

Even after they added SMGs still there was not so many who played as infiltrators. I think it was because more people thought the game was more than a large scale death match and played a bit like a strategy/RPG game. "We have to help our empire..." You just do not need too many infiltrators in your platoon if you want to do "serious" things like capture a bigger base.

I think today more people play "only for the killing itself" and maybe more play solo. Infiltrator is a good class to play if you play solo and don't really care about capturing a base or defending one. And why should you? In 2-3 hours the continent will be locked and you will be forced to play on a different continent.

The other thing why infiltrator with SMG/commissioner is popular becasue it's easy to keep your KDR around 1.0 even for a not too good player. Having 4-5-6 KDR is still hard and you need skills, you need to know the game and the base you are fighting at. When a new/not too good player starts playing as anyhing else then SMG infiltrator he keeps dying without any kills (except rocket and grenade kills).

Long range sniping is a different story because you can have 100 kills without dying if you want as a sniper. You can sit 200m from the fight and aim at the players standing still. Your score / min will be low but still with a high KDR. I know there are some very good players who can be in the biggest battle playing as a sniper and doing very well but most people are just not that good.

But is it a big problem to have more infiltrators than before? Sometimes I find it very annoying to be killed by commissioner infils but it is still less annoying than vehicles farming infantry becasue of the bad base design and stupid character progress system (no specialisation required for vehicles, you just pull one when you have the resources, and to be honest you always have).

If I made the game myself there would be no one shot kill weapons at all. No shotguns, no sniper rifles, no grenades more place for open field infantry battles where tanks/planes can not kill everybody in seconds. But it's just me and a lot of players enjoy HA/rocketpod/lib framing.

    Sorry for my bad English.

Infiltrators are annoying as heck, but instead of whining about it, I've recently dived deep into the infiltrator cert tree and why not dish out some rage.

I agree, there's too damn many of them sometimes, but if you can't beat them, join them. Nothing like getting hate tells from knifing people.

Planetside 1 was better in regards to infiltrators in that their implants could be used to detect, whereas in this game, you have to equip a weapon with a flashlight to detect and that in itself makes the class flourish.

If there was an implant that detected them, then I think a lot of these complaints would disappear.

Yep sick of Infs. I left a couple of years ago when Infs were in their hayday (as did many im sure) when they had cart blanche on headshots. They were finally nerfed, all the nerds raged but the game was playable again and I came back. Then someone came up with this stupid idea of creating the "stalker class". Unfortunately in coincided with one shot one kill headshots again for anything except heavies. So now we have one shot one kill headshots for all classes but one and a bunch of pansies running around knifing people to death and ghost capping points all day.

Then you get the fan boys who say "get gud" or "use Inf to counter Inf". Well if 'get gud' is keep on moving then I got about 50 videos on You Tube I want to show you of guys who play Inf who can hit a moving target and miss about 5% of the time. As for playing Inf, why should I have to play Inf? I don't like the class and frankly despise it. Im not going to play an Inf to try to beat an Inf.

Its getting to the point where ill be leaving again.
  14. DIGGSAN0

Oh man....i just give up there are too many of these whinning kids :D

Look i can show you statistics of Every Day that Infiltrator is really not that poular and also is Balanced but you will still cry about it like a baby...just because you can't/don't accept the truth.

It is just pathetic to call out nerfs for a class which is completely balanced just so your Class shines even more brighter than before...

And when i see a dude posting bad things about Infiltrator...and see that this guy has a kdr of 0.28 which is registered since 2013 and is Member in an Outfit called "Angels pf Death" and also is BR 64
I just laugh the **** out of him because he ain't a clue about the game xD

Yeah the Infiltrator is soooooo OP

He has 500 HP and 400Shield, can be Oneshotted with Pistols.
Has a Darklight to counter him which even goes to walls.
    Has no Anti Vehicle Option.
Has got a Motion spotter which isn't good anymore
Got a lot of bugs with the Cloak (Weapons and Inf not cloaked correctly)

I can't take you guys serious anymore.
  15. OgreMarkX

To answer your specific question about small fights, here is my decision process.

If I see a small fight, especially a base defense for my faction, I either go infil with submachine gun and radar darts or engy with claymores and spitfire turret.

    Why?

In large fights you generally know the front lines--where the enemy is...

In small fight you don't. Hence..radar darts. Helps you and the few friendlies.

Finding the enemy is key in small fights and conversely, stealthing, to not be found.

I go engy if another friendly infil already has darts out, then I set up claymore defenses (cause I am TR, and TR is best). I do this because I KNOW I will kill a filthy VS infil or a thieving NC infil...creeping around and stuff.

You can check live stats on ps2.fisu

    For example on Cobalt http://ps2.fisu.pw/activity/?world=13

Sometimes, indeed, Infil has most kills (or second after heavy) but it is not a general rule all the time. Also, it seems to be very dependant on the faction.
  17. TheGreatOne80

Thanks for the link I did know this one. The funny thing is according to these stats there is a player on Cobalt who is having a 200+ kill streak right now, 90% headshots and killing the same guy in every 0.5 seconds. :D All his weapons are below 20% accuracy except one, that is 30% and 90% headshots and the devs say there are no cheaters in PS2. The guy is BR110+ and the overall KD is just 1.0 even with this cheap **** he is doing.

i played infill for so long, i played this game cause of the cloak
now i play mainly as HA and medic if not in a vehicle
but after playing infill i can find and kill them so easy now i think they need to be buffed
even if they surprise me i just turn around and shoot them in the face
i can see them run at 100 meters and the sound must be like 200 meters
most of the times they are all low BR but still a high BR infill with game knowledge can't have the jump on me
with a exception on the stalkers they knife me sometimes but can't use there pistol on me cause the way i move

maybe you see many infills in this game but they are free cert pinatas
it's just to easy to spot them, if i did not see them i will hear them
even if they play with 2 to 3 infills they are no problem, i kill them all
and those 300 meter snipers can also not kill me cause the way i move
the infill class is the worst to play against veteran players
they may be more lucky against new players and low BR
  20. Eternaloptimist

Getting ambushed by an infil generally requires you to be isolated from support if the infil wants to get away afterwards. It is generally the case that the first person to fire wins but it is what happens to the infil afterwards that balances things up in my experience.

I gave up stalking a while back when the cloak became less effective and Darklights were a major fashion accesory, but things seem to have settled down a bit now.

As to numbers, I find that the nature of the battle determines that to a large degree - Loads of enemies on a ridge trading long range shots..........snipers appear in greater numbers. Unable to break a deadlock in open field fighting................stalkers start creeping around the edges of the battle to get behind them.

My favourite place for infil stalking. Often very little to do except grind the Objective Support directive by destabilising generators and capping terminals. Also the Hossin fights on EU servers are usually small, whch tends to mean ambush tactics more than set piece battles. And I get brilliant hate tells / threats by starting to cap a point then seeding it with mines to kill people trying to recap it

I think he means the Ballistic Computer for SASRs - they have massively improved my experience of using them.

I'm guessing he is a stat padder in which case he's a very naughty boy
