the hell did you guys get to set up your joysticks? I have a Cyborg Gold and the Y-X axis does not work at all. Everything else works fine, even the Z axis for yawing works.
It seems to be progressive also, that means the longer you pull the faster it turns, this is only a problem on the y axis for me.
Guys please stick to the topic, many joystick users CANNOT CURRENTLY FLY. I just want SOE to register this problem and fix it, please report this problem in game if you also have it. Additionally please tell what joystick are you using. Thanks!
Yes of course - good point. For the sake of comparison I cannot get the game to start using my 360 controller at all - So I can't comment on the analogue axis issue.
Hardly. Several posts back i explained why a joystick is better. But you just keep spitting out nonsens about hte mouse being better without any type of facts or logical explenations.
Iam using an x52 and the game cant start with the joystick plugged in and just crashes. Do you run windows 8 ? Need really help here.
No i have windows 7, Saiteck x52 pro here, can't use, too much deadzones. There is a way to change the deadzones? Thx
I am not using a "real flight controller" atm, just a Logitech Freedom 2.4 and for most parts it works fine, only problem is the sensitivity curve is WAY to high, to aim precise. 1% angle of the joystick gives a small steady precise movement. 2% Angle it spins quite fast. 5% Angle it is turning near max speed. So to be able to hit any thing, i am now trying to learn my self to fly with mouse. I Found Binding my "Pitch up", and "Pitch Down" to buttons on the side of the mouse. ( usually used in browsers as "page forward" and "Page backward" This allows me to fly in circles, making loops, and turns without having to relocate the mouse because i run out of mouse pad. I know this Isn't a solution to the real issue, that Joystick control in Planetside 2 sucks at the moment, but until they fix it I can at least hit something!
Thrustmaster T.16000M here, some issues I've had are: 1.) Have to full throttle sometimes before I can throttle down. 2.) Deadzone needs to be able to be put down lower 3.) POV Hat can't be bound to certain things, ascend/descend for example. 4.) Rudder is extremely low sensitivity wise. Even using the T.A.R.G.E.T. software with the rudder "maxed" out, it still barely moves. Besides that, it's pretty good. I'm used to flight simulators and I've been playing War Thunder pretty heavily the past month, so it's going to take some getting used to. Definitely a lot of potential for great joystick support, I hope they don't overlook it.
hopefully they remove joystick support, its only unfair against all the mouse players look at the top ranks, i'm sure all of these mother****ers are joystick players owning the noobs around the bases since the first second the game was released. maximal 3% of the players have joystick and they are extremly prefferd against non mouse players.
I think SOE only put the words on the settings and forgot to code them in. Ive just spent half an hour testing exactly what works and what doesnt for sticks. I have a logitech 3d pro, one of the commonest joysticks out there. I also have the LGS software and use it for deadzone and sensitivity in every flying game over the past 5 years. This is what I found. Deadzone: 1) The default PS2 deadzone is HUGE and makes correcting small movements like sailing on a storm, washing back and forth while we try to fine tune our aim around the sloppy wide PS2 deadzone. All adjustment are on minimum everywhere (0.05 in ps, 0% in lgs) yet its still really wide, nothing like any other game ive flown in. 2) PS2 has an ingame Joystick Deadzone setting. It DOES NOT WORK. I can set the full 30 or 0.05, there is no change. Sensitivity: 3) PS2 has an ingame Flight Vehicle Sensitivity setting. It has no effect on joysticks and only works on mouse sensitivity. 4) PS2 has an ingame Joystick Sensitivity setting. It DOES NOT WORK. I can put the ingame slider full or off, there is no change. The smallest movement still puts the axis on full. No fine adjustment at all, its on ....whoa!!! or its off. 5) PS2 cheats on the way it does axis commands. Joystick software usually can fix the sensitivity problem but here its impossible because of these fake axis controls. Instead of reading a value between 0 and 100 for the axis it just sends a left keypress to the game anytime the stick reads a - value or sends a right key when the stick reads any + value, therefore there is no way to correctly make sensitivity work! POV Hat: 6) Anything bound works once then breaks, only the key_down event is sent and then the whole command locks up. A keyboard key has to be pressed twice to make the command work again. (the first one unsticks the command with a key_up). The code routines for the hat are simply not complete. All Together: Either one is annoying but combine both this huge sloppy dead area along with harsh instant full on roll and pitch and we end up with this horrible experience fighting the bloody controls just to scratch some kills out ... No wonder there are so many rocket podders, hovering is the only thing we can do without battling the controls just to stay straight. Whinge and tldr. Its a cheap way to program and came about because SOE has been slap dash at they way theyve added controllers to the game. If the SOE devs only ever fly on the keyboard theyll never know how bad it is. (keys need no deadzone nor have issues with sensitivity). At very least SOE have to 1) put in proper analog axis for any kind of fine control to be possible and 2) reduce the deadzone to true zero and put the control of that back in our hands too.
Those mentioning the x52pro. Looks like win8 might be your problem. I have one along with the rudder pedals on 7 and have no problem loading or using the joystick. That said, I have a major problem calibrating the joystick because of the sensitivity issue. Most like the win8 drivers, default microsoft or otherwise, may not be fully stable yet.
@St0mpy, thanks a million from a fellow flight stick user. I will bump this until I am banned or its acknowledged
I'm pretty terrible in an ESF I just find the total lack of resistance difficult to fly but I'm getting better. I use a Logitech Extreme 3D pro and I've gone back to old school PC space flight control. IE Wing Commander 3 and Tie Fighter where x-axis was YAW and twist is Roll. Seems to be working out for me.
Yep, I'd really like the POV Hat to work on my Logitech freedom joystick. I have a X52 as well, it just seems overkill for PS2.
Thrustmaster t-flight Hotas x user and i'm having all of the same problems.... ...sensitivity way too high, deadzone not right, when spawning i need to hit the throttle on full and then back to zero to get it to work, Pov hat switch works for one instruction and then not at all. It'd be quite nice to know that somebody was working on this stuff... devs??
