First , watch this video. This was a tier two implant, which are impossible for a non paying player to sustain. www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7jzs96qEhk#t=203 Personally, I feel that paying players would have a huge advantage here. A squad with this implant would not need more then 1 medic, and that medic would be needed only for revives. I was fine with the implant system until I saw this. What are other people's opinions?
Currently i think it will be "pay2win" (though we are talking small advantages here) for about a week or two for me whilst I build up T3 implants for free from drops, then I will be level again. I think I can get xp fast enough for sustained use at that point. Everyone I died to tonight had one active but I don't think it was relevant in any of them. As for players who can't keep up?, frankly they will get destroyed either way, yes it's wrong on principle but not very significant in practice (if anything it will give them something else to blame which if these forums are anything to go by is what they all want anyway). I don't like the system btw, better than it was going to be yes, but I still don't want it. Also, an implant that ignores concussion - are you """"ing serious?
Well there is a 10 charger cap per day, so you would have to spend certs/ sc eventually if you play a lot. This is a problem for players who are not BR 94 yet and still have stuff to cert (like I, BR 37, still want dem revive grenades and that 2nd brick of c4). To keep up you would have to trade certs for implants, and I consider that pay to win. I'll play for a while and see how much they really effect me, but now I'm contemplating quitting.
Implants are really not that big a deal people. They really are NOT OPed in any why. I'm level 62 and will most likely never use implants even after I reach BR100. Why? Because all they really are, are cert sinks for very high players who have a bunch of certs but nothing to do with them. Just play the game and have fun...
Its not really pay to win because it does not actually change the way your guns work. Energy system was not implemented very well (cough you all should have played on the PTS more to give data cough), but at least they have a foundation in the game for improvements. Direct pay to win would be if only paying players could use implants (or certain implants) and/or had major game changing things that would beat the snot out of a non-paying player (golden shells or whatever in WoT). Meh, it will change and forumside will whine as is the norm and standard here.
Don't forget you can also craft your own chargers using the unwanted implants. Or you can just buy them with certs, or you can buy implant with certs then turn the useless ones into charges as well. Not seeing the pay to win.
It doesn't matter how much of an advantage they give, if it gives any advantage and its not sustainable without paying then theres a problem. SC has always been for convenience/fluff (and devs have said they will keep it that way) but convenience turns to required when you have to pay it to stay even with somebody else paying. I fully understand they need to make money but when a game gets that "pay to win" label put on it, it dies and then theres nobody left to make that money from.
