That is what they called Planetside: Next.

Lower the number of bases you can spawn air/tanks from so we have to actually form up armoured columns and air squadrons back from the fighting and drive to the frontline.. some might not like it but it might promote scouting and ambushing of enemy reinforcements along predicted routes..

The way it is now its too easy to just pull tanks out of your *** no more than 1 hex away from any target which is also helping to promote the tank spam

    Just 1 thing?

    The company behind it....

I can't list just one, sorry.

    1) Metagame - Reason to Fight. This is the number one reason why I've quit playing. I popped back in the last two nights to grab a little double xp, but I'm done again. I can't take it. Boring. Capturing and holding means virtually nothing and Crown fights are giving me hives.

    * Base lockouts for 20-30 minutes upon capture. This should have been there from beta.
    * Continent lockouts. I understand these are coming when extra continents come online, but I still want base lockouts

    2) Galaxy and Sunderer boarding at all locations is a joke, and I guarantee you it is damaging this game and the new player experience. Telling people to "join an outfit" is no where near good enough. Probably 1/10 or even 1/20 of these vehicles do I ever see remotely full. In other games I've played, the opposite is true. Players fill transports as if their lives depended on it.

Here are some ways to help with this:

    * Hotkey and HUD marker for a player who requests transport. This will show above the player's head, and on the HUD of every driver/pilot. This will make it much easier for transport owners to find players looking for rides, and also be able to tell when no one is interested. Once pressed, the marker would last for 60 seconds. Pressing it again would turn it off.

    * Hotkey for pilots/drivers to announce their transport. When pressed, their transport is added to a list of transports available in the local region. This list can be toggled on and off by all players to show on their HUD. So, as a player, I can toggle the transport HUD on, and see all transports ready in my region, and make my way to one of them.

    * Limited radius teleporter boarding tool. You know how Sundys are auto scooted off the pad and then people have to chase after them to get in and risk getting run over or left behind? It's ridiculous. I suggest a radius around vehicle pads where players can press a key to join a queue to auto-teleport into the next spawned Sundy or Galaxy. No more chasing, suiciding, shooting at the vehicle, use the 'Q' chat or what have you. Just "sign up", and wait near the pad, and you'll get in the next one, easy as pie. We need this. Locking could be duplicated to the spawn screen so the vehicle could be locked before it is spawned.

    3) Add xp bonus for being a passenger in a transport. Sound silly? Hear me out. When a Sundy or Gal with at least one passenger travels from one region to another, all infantry xp rewards are boosted by 1xp ( one xp ) for 5 minutes after exiting the vehicle. The number could be larger if 1 is not enough, but I think 1 or 2 would probably do it. Kills, assists, supplies, heals, etc, all boosted. Limits could be placed on it to prevent abusive situations.

Honestly, I cringe every time I see empty transports leaving bases, whether they do it immediately after spawning, or they've waited a full 5 minutes and no one comes, or a few get in and get bored while the driver waits for more, and get out to fly solo. This is quite literally a defective aspect of the game. It is not functioning as it should, and that damages the game, especially when players coming from other games may be accustomed to quality transport play.

    4) Change xp balance to favor base capture and defense, rather than K/D and farming operations. Many others have mentioned this one in other threads. We need serious motivation to capture and defend these bases....motivation in the form of giant xp. Take 50-75% of xp earned now and award it when a base is captured or defended.

Do it in two parts: 1) Award equal xp for both sides after cap/defend, 2) Have a winner's pot that increases the longer the battle goes on, and award it to the victor. The pot would be in play only once the capture meter has fully kicked in (there seems to be a warm up timer for the cap/def meter that I do not yet understand exactly)

Only one, so many things to choose from...

Give infiltrators more cert options, i want to specialise - recon detect device/hacking/silencer/betties/nano cloak, most of the available certs are useless to snipers. I want proximity detectors (warn you when someone is nearby), rangefinders, thermal scopes, zeroing, flash suppressors, tripods and hiking boots.

    I feel so unloved T_T.
  8. Pinchy

    The Corporate Greed.

Disregarding the obvious performance issues, a big redesign of bases/constructions. More verandas/outdoor roofing (especially near saferooms), bases that actually go into mountainsides and underground roads/access tunnels. Empire specific base designs with plasma/gauss/gunpowder turret/AA variations.
  10. Fivetide

The problem with galaxys and sunderers as transport vehicles are that they serve no purpose. Everyone has access to a large number of vehicles and most of the fighting is done in vehicles. Its better to just get your own vehicle because then you can contribute by killing stuff and you dont have to wait for others. SOE apparently didnt understand why the galaxy was useful in ps1.
  11. DeadAlive99

Yeah, that's a problem. I think it could be adjusted with various tweaks, but.....I doubt SOE has the guts to tackle it at this point. So sad, imo, I truly love massive transport action, but I'm really not up for running with outfits, etc. In a well designed game it would just happen naturally.

Perhaps for the future they could have maps with bases where the only way to assault the interior was with transports.

  13. Vortigon

Agree with all of this ^^^

Plus - Make people specialise in what they do - STOP people having access to everything in the game - that way transport will be used more - people will move and work together more effectively etc

A gal pilot should be a specialised skill tree - not available from day 1
A Sundie driver should be a specialised skill tree
MBT should be a specialised skill tree.

    etc

Pick one to train in full and maybe go half-way up another tree - or split halfway up 3 trees or whatever you get the point. With bonuses for being in a tree long term, and a long cooldown between reset of the tree - i.e. 7 days or use SC or 1000 certs.

This one change would drastically alter the game for the better is too many ways to list...

Make capturing Continents more interesting and unique as in, Lets say the Advanced VS take a Continent.

Now with the VS futuristic technology , they could be able to Harness the combined power of the Continent and create a giant black hole over the planet which engulfs it in darkness in turn it would decreases the VS drop pod time cool-down and give it a electric effect as they fly in, The VS Ships would fly faster and they may regenerate health and they might also have the same electrical effect on them. And as and added bonus it could also make the other continents stay at night and have giant swirling thunderstorms surrounding each one. (Because lets be honest, night time battles are AMAZING).

    Or...
The mighty TR Could have a Massive space Station/ship that warps in and becomes a "Sky Fortress" which can attack and provide support for ground and air forces where the TR can spawn in and also spawn vehicals and all sorts of stuff, and their continent would have a dark smog over it because they are Industrial Faction. I really don't know much about the LORE but Interesting and Crazy stuff like that I reckon would make more people want to play more .

And the NC can have a swarm of Cats that they can ride on into battle or cats that jump on your helmet and blocks your vision for some time... Something along the lines of that. bloody rebels... -_-

DX9...........loose that then people with $5,000 rigs wont be getting 30-40 fps in firefights.
  16. InducedApathy

What does age have to do with an opinion on this game? PS1 veteran being more mature?
  17. AzK

A complete gameplay/design/mechanics rework to make this game a planetside game, rather than whatever the **** it's supposed to be now.

    Or, ps1 f2p.
  18. Metalsheep

Make PS1 free to play, fix netcode.

    Forget PS2 ever existed...

Lacking that, fix base design to be like PS1 or much more defenseable.
  19. Wildclaw

I didn't play Planetside 1, but from what I could glance at searching for the above term, I think the Lattice System encompasses exactly what I wanted to suggest as well.

Due to the pretty much free-for-all capturing rules in PS2, it is simply too difficult to defend on a strategic scale. And that has a heavy negative impact on the persistent world of PS2. What is the point of holding an area when the enemy can just go around it?

The battle fronts are simply too wide, and need to be compacted.

Rework bsses, so they are more defensible. I would like to see more bases beeing infantry-only.
