Wait, what? Gucci? Really!? Yes please!

While we're at it can I get a nice Louis Vuitton clutch for my Utility Pouch? If I have to carry C4 I might as well do it in style, right?

On a serious note I agree with you. The Vortex looks almost like an over-sized Solstice. I think it should look like MAX version of it's man-portable cousin. I must say, dual wielding a pair of beefed up Lancers would be sexy!

It is actually a very good weapon, which reminds me: SOE can we get charge holding functionality on the Vortex like we have on the Lancer? They're the same exact weapon.

Broke out my Vortices (yes, that is the plural of Vortex) today, against a large NC zerg. I destroyed about two dozen vehicles, nine actual kills from that, and deterred more vehicles I can count.

I can't say I was noticing how they were looking during the battle, but before and after I was thinking they look unattractive. They get the job done OK though.

I do for the Love of all that is holy wish they'd fix the recoiling bug during charging, however. Bump or like my post for visibility on this crippling issue that occurs.

While vortices is appropriate if you're talking about gas or liquid spinning around a single axis, I'm not sure if its appropriate for a product marketed as "Vortex".

I dont get it why there are so few Lancers and Vortex around. I think I have seen a total of 2 other MAXes with Vortex and that was a day or two after they were released and no one since. How can you not like them for AV/AA?

If you ask me they are actually OP, put 8 MAXes with these and they can more or less instantly kill any ground vehicle in the game from extreme range and no warnings at all. 3-4 MAXes can do the same but the target would get a whole 3-4 seconds to react wich if we are completly honest isnt any time at all. You cant really move a tank very far in 4 seconds and only way to survive this would be to have some cover to hide behind.

ESFs go into critical from 4 shots(2 MAXes), no warning there either. I alone can take down several ESF or force them to get out of the area, the first 3 second charge doesnt really count because the ESF doesnt know you are there or if it does, it doesnt know what you are up to before you hit it and then it has just 3 seconds to get the hell out of there... otherwise I will put another pair of shots in it and will be burning.

Vortex can fire 4 fully charged shots before having to reload so there is plenty of shots to pick on ESFs with. Lancers can only fire 2 fully charged shots before having to reload but they deal about twice as much damage as the Vortex, so you only need 2 hits with it to take them down or 1 hit to light a fire under their chair and they go running.

Obviously bad weapons when you can use them to kill both MBTs and ESFs, you dont even have to be close to them.

Three reasons why people don't invest in vortexes:
    • Your MAX is extremely vulnerable to infantry. One semi competent (insert any class) can take out a vortex MAX with ease. So you end up using them only on occasions where enemy infantry is non existent (hill artillery) or you're heavily defended by your own.
    • Comets exist. They are a lot cheaper. They are also not so horrendously bad against infantry and you can actually defend yourself against single infantry units.
    • Lancers exist. You may not have the ammo buffer, but it's a half price weapon (1k certs as opposed to 2k for vortexes) on a unit that doesn't need resources to be pulled.

There's no point in getting the Vortex when you have the Lancer really, if you want to play the sniping vehicles role, switch to HA and grab a Lancer instead of spending 350 resources and 2k certs to be able to pull the vortex.

As for the reason there are few Lancers around, I don't know, probably because lock-ons are easier to use.

I use auto repair and first level of ZOE, if you go out in the open you dont really find a lot of infantry and you can run from them with ZOE or if they are close, run up to them and bash their heads in with melee. Most areas have some sort of cover you can use to hide behind so if they want to kill you they have to get close, if they dont come after you the auto repair quickly recharge your health and you can take pot shots at them from the cover, fully charged the Vortex actually do some damage against infantry.

Sure its very weak against infantry in general but I cant imagine killing many vehicles with the Comets, much too slow to be used at range wich in turn makes it much more likely that random infantry will come looking for you, my Vortex MAX standing +500m away is a much harder target and their sunderer is usually a burning pile way before they can even get close.

Imo the Comets lets you kill ground vehicles in close to medium range and some infantry at close range, but then you can hardly fight off enemy air, tanks you are shooting at will have little to no trouble shooting back and you will still die to a handfull of infantry in close range.

Vortex you can kill ground vehicles from any range, scare/kill infantry at long range(if you hit someone with charged vortex, most turn and run for cover) and you can kill aircraft both close and long range. Only bad thing is that you are even weaker against infantry in close range but as I have said, there are ways to avoid and combat that unless its a small group but then having Comets wouldnt save you either.

You can grab a Lancer and have 8 fully charged shots to play around with(wich is pretty much how many you need to kill 1 MBT) or you can have 2 Vortex with 48 fully charged Lancer shots worth damage/ammo.

You can grab a Lancer and kill a Prowler from the front in ~46 seconds and have close to or 0 ammo left or you can grab a 2 Vortex MAX and kill a Prowler from the front in ~22 seconds and have enough ammo to kill another 5 tanks.

If you dont think thats a difference worth 350 res, meh.

TLDR, Lancers are good but Vortex are even better.

I bet you were the one who just killed my lightning with vortex.

    Well, I'd pull:
    • Vortexes, when the enemy is nowhere near the base you're defending but he's coming there from a distance. Engage distance from 250+ with no enemy infantry in sight.
    • Comets, when enemy vehicles are already circling the base and you get infantry escort as well, but not in overwhelming numbers just yet. Engage distance at 200m or closer.

At least the high heels are still there. ;)
  12. Alox

The weapons does look unbalanced, like they are going to fall out of the hands all the time, except they dont... something is off when you look at it. :)

And vortex with zoe 5 is very useful for long range AV fights, also effective vs. libs. Short range with infantry mix, go comets.
  13. Village

The high heels might be for a logical reason.

In terms of locomotion having the option to effectively become a digitigrade instead of a plantigrade (heel on the ground with every stride) on demand will give you a mechanical advantage with muscle contraction. The disadvantage is less friction and thus less stability and traction, but it appears the MAX has claw like toes that it can spread during fast movement to counteract this disadvantage.

Animals that are MUCH faster than we are are digitigrade such as cheetahs, or even unguligrade like horses and antelope.

Meh crabs will be crabs. :D

Yeah.. some of us are art guys though (me, for example) and just can't bring ourselves to do it. Bleh. And I agree with the OP- they look like @ss.
  17. vanu123

It looks how it performs, terribly.
  18. vanu123

Lasher and Serpent your argument is invalid.
  19. deveras

The Vortex would be a nice-looking pistol for standard infantry classes. Finally a VS pistol that hasn't been created via copy&paste :D

But for our MAX...Maybe if we had a Lady-MAX :D:D:D

    Except for the H-V45.
You wish you had a weapon this pretty.
