I thought lock continent would be a good thing!

Go play EVE, sounds like exactly the game you're looking for. I don't mean this as some sort of go-away-we-don't-want-your-sort-here but rather as a serious suggestion.

This may come as a surprise to you but: Some of us have been playing this game from the very beginning. Day one of closed beta. We have a lot invested in it and we want to see it do well and be successful.

When the devs make poor choices and the feces hits the fan then we get upset. We don't like seeing such a great opportunity get wasted. We like to give our input so the game we like isn't destroyed before our eyes.

You should have seen the forums back during the beta stages. It was a big hub of tons of cool ideas. Pages upon pages of user-made art and drawings for new ideas and content. People really care about this game doing well but I think the person(s) that cares the least is SOE. None of those great ideas or any other community-made content was ever listened to or implemented in a way that made the community happy. And that is why we are upset.

Before CL there were, indeed 3 maps but the big battles were always on Indar. Thus, if you wanted big battles, you had no choice other than to play on Indar.

As has already been said, it became a downwards spiral.

Now there's suddenly huge battles on different continents every time I log on and it's bloody great.

This is an issue with population numbers, not continents.

Back when the playerbase was huge, most servers could support 2+ continents with ease and it was jolly good fun.

Not on my Server, but it's fun that you like the new PS2.
But I liked the old PS2 better it was more fun and did have better gameplay.
Now it's feels dead.

Same here. Unlike now, though, I used to spend my time in the game having fun. It's a sad state of affairs that for the first time ever, I'm more motivated to be here than playing Planetside.

I just hope the next couple of phases of Cont locking are worth it. I dont like it the way it is atm. But will reserve final judgement once its fully completed. I miss Cross Roads, The Crown, TI Alloys. Soooo many great battles.

I agree, yet it's weird how there's suddenly battles on both the unlocked continents at the same time whereas before the introduction of any of the new content there was only Indar.

Then you should probably move along. That's the grim reality.

As has been pointed out, there has always been plans for something like this. Whether it's alerts or complete conquest of a continent which locks it doesn't really matter, the end result is the same; You won't be able to play on Indar at all times.

If you like a game why would you recommend for people to quit playing it?

Move along. Wrong game for you. Your playing the wrong game.

If it was so awesome why do they need to force people to play there?

I like amerish actually, for infantry fights, but it is a combined arms game.

And i can only take the monotony of amerish for short periods of time.

Dude, Silk, anyone who has been reading your posts since the patch was released would know that all the freedom and choice you have been talking about being stripped of was your ability to play solely on Indar.

You want the freedom to choose to play Indar 100%
You want content to be optional so you can't be locked from Indar
You want a variety of playstyles to be viable again, mostly the one involving not changing the map
You want continents that don't 'suck', like all those maps that aren't Indar


For the most part you and other doomsayers been saying the same thing over and over again but with different words and merely painting it as 'constructive'. You're not constructive, you're clever.

No, the patch isn't perfect, but if having Indar occasionally locked was the tipping point for you then I hope the door didn't hit you on the way out. Many of us have our own favorite maps, mine being Esamir, and when that gets locked I put my big boy pants on and go elsewhere because I have fun playing this game, not a particular map.

My favorite continent is Esamir. I still hate continent locking, though.

The state of forumside is very depressing.

Forcing people to play on continents they don't like is just going to drive people away.

Content is what keeps player retention not some misguided attempt like CL which is just a band-aid.

Phase 2 , Phase 3? Please it will be ages before that happens and still won't bring more players in.

Look at World of Warcraft , 12 MILLION paid subs at its peak & a massive budget for content and there down to 7 million now
and you think CL is going to get MORE people to play PS2? It will have the opposite effect.

actually i know for a fact that those phases will come with the inter continental lattice.

which will be done during/after the battleislands are done(BTW 1 of them is finished, just letting you know).
