Lol this is typical troll stuff. If im cancelling my account so that SOE will lose money, why would i want to do something that would cause you to then give them money?
  2. Silkensmooth

If there were sooo many of you why didnt you go to another continent?

I mean surely if there were so many people who loved the other continents wouldnt they have played there?

The problem isnt Indar as so many of you have been taught to believe. The problem is that for the vast majority of people the other continents arent that fun, for whatever reason. And the reasons are myriad and have also been discussed in other threads and even in this one.

So stop blaming Indar. The problem is all three of the other continents are pretty bleh for a lot of us.

Make a continent that resembles southeast Indar and see if thats popular. Not a betting man, but i would put all of my money on that.

"I should be able to play wherever I want, whenever I want!" - Dralus, Briggs (Paraphrased)
    That guy nails it!

Even further non-territory alerts locking a continent? wtf is this?!
Ill make a thread tomorrow on this.
  4. Tuco

    Seems alright to me
  5. volth

It's worst for new players that be "forced" to play on a empty map.
  6. Silkensmooth

Where are all of these 'new players' that we cherish and covet more than veterans who have had memberships for many moons and who have spent many dollars already.

And where are the empty maps?

Always was a good fight or three on every continent of connery.
  7. NinjaTurtle

So you agree continent locking is good because it condenses populations onto less continents therefore creating larger fight instead of having them spread out?
  8. volth

    Why complain about Indar then?
  9. NinjaTurtle

Because it's the same old thing which after 18 months is bad. I haven't got an issue with fighting on Indar from time to time but it is nice that now there are massive fights on Amerish and Hossin which completely mixes up the game play

Not more then 30 seconds ago, Vanu won the alert on US East Indar. Poof, the entire continent has become locked. This is stupid. I'm sorry dev's, but the whole lock system has to go. We barely controlled 40% of the map -- give or take a few. Yet, in an instant, the entire continent is locked? No, that's not fun. Wow, my opponents can no longer fight over territory simply because of an alert victory? No, that's not fun. No, it's not much of a challenge.

I would rather fight tooth and nail over X territory as opposed to locking out an opponent or being locked out by default. I don't care how many Vanu were online. I don't care if we were winning every front (which, we weren't.)

Victory is earned, not handed out by default simply because of an alert. Continent locking simply reduces the number of opportunities in which any faction can begin raiding in order to control X continent or territory. Rob us of diversity and you cripple us.

Not on Ceres, it's Hossinside 24/7 here. This isn't good or fun gameplay, not for old players and not for new players.
  12. Goretzu

The probably do need a weighting system for that.

I just logged in, was looking forward for some fights..
its sunday, = primetime Jubii :p

Noticed vanu controlling 2 continents, amerish and indar
now there is hossin and esamir, esamir is okay.. but nowhere i went i could find even matched players to fight.
Normally if i find people over my skill, i relocate. tried that only to find out that we where underpopulated and got overrun in every base in hossin, then tryed esamir only to find out that 90+ levels are there to fight. after 1h out of playing where i usally spend an entire day, then to continue on evening.. i might just skip this.

i liked it when i was able to find small fights, would have a chance to fricking find a place, heal your shield and move on.
tried airplane, got 3 vs me. then i tried max, only to be shot Down by 10 people
i tried to sneak, insta spotted. i tried to be medic on the field, and be carefull, hammered by air.

i think tr on my World is stopping playing. = vanu controlling 2 continents tank and infantry
we have low ressource due to allmost no income from lands, so they just keep spitting it out..
Ive been really frustrated recently.. was excited by new continent, but this Lock up is annoying.

Stop with this Lock up allready. back to old system. it was good to see if it could Work, but its a pain.
If you want more people zergin, then merge more servers. eve online only has one server for 40k people, why cant you do it?

Well, I still don't understand how continent locking is the answer to anything mentioned. Planetside 2 is all about pushing into enemy controlled territories and defending the ones you possess. I remember being a kid and dreaming of playing games like this, or organizing neighborhood kids into groups and fighting over "bases" (usually someone's back porch).

Anyway, what I mean is that, if you don't fight for it, it shouldn't be gift wrapped to you. Have central hub locking. A faction takes over a certain base, or bases in an alert, they gain access to a central hub base, that also locks all the other connecting bases to their faction. The outlying bases can be taken, but they're made easier to defend than to take except during alerts. The hub can only be switched during an alert, but an attacking faction can force an alert by flipping a certain number of connecting bases.

Something like that would be pretty interesting I think, but maybe too predictable.

Wasn't able to read all the discussion.... Wonder if anyone has touched on this.

Continent locking adds a bonus for gaining ground that is tactile in nature. It also provides a penalty for not gaining ground. No more farming in a Biolab all day. In fact, if you get Biolab blinded, you may find yourself booted off the continent. SOE didn't do this to you, the opposing faction did by going around your farm and defeating you strategically.

The purpose of the game has always been to gain ground and hold it for as long as possible. Without that, this is just a big BF4/COD map. --If you live for the farm, you can still do that. But don't get mad because the rest of us are playing the game.

(I can't wait for the hate threads about resource revamp and base refueling when it comes online)
  16. BuckRaven

Oh gee, I wonder why that is.. ..maybe it's the novelty-aspect of that new map?
  17. NinjaTurtle

It is not a vocal minority.

Cont locking is one of the most requested features of the game whether you wish to accept that or not.

It one of the main things "Planet"side is about. It has from the very beginning been a planned addition. The majority bought into that vision of the game and for over a year people have been asking for this meta. It was not thrust upon you out of the blue, the rug was not pulled out from under your feet. This is how the game was always going to end up.

The Roadmap made this very clear and the Cont Locking thread in that forums shows very clearly how requested this feature is. This lacking feature was one of a few reason many people left the game because it became stale to them

Now the minority that want to do nothing but farm on Indar all day long and do nothing else are being vocal about it.

TLDR: "you" are the minority and can I stress this "planet"side

Still waiting for it .. The current system add's very little meta since it's been done in such a silly way ..

The only value they have added to the land is the increase in bonus's , the actually act of capturing a continent is worth less than it was before due to the alert system. Since you will lose the continent, regardless of how hard you try not to.

So yes continent locking done " right " and " complete " might be good for the meta aspect .. But it's a long way from being right or complete ..

i agree, and then many players will naturally choose to be on the "winning side" or the faction that has the best lock benefit (at this point probably either cheap air or cheap c4/grenades.) the aggregate effect of which will mean global population imbalance and one sided zergs. this is already happening, just a few seconds slower per iteration because they have to log into one character first to make the decision - stay or change. it's a flawed mechanic that wasn't thought through, and was shoehorned in because of this nostalgia-pressure you're reading about how great it was in planetside (1.) next they they go on to say how much we need all the other mechanics from planetside (1) even though that was a completely different class structure with a different reward/advancement structure.

I Wonder why bioware got kicked in the balls with that ending in mass effect 3, and they liturally had to appologize for the players.
I Wonder why SOE have angry mobs at their door as bioware did?

Oh yea.. taking away the freedom of choice..
What happen if you do that? people will simply stop playing! and if people stop playing soe will lose Money.

i do believe this will be reverted soon, or i hope so, or they will see a subscriber leaving.

ive been enjoying lately going to indar. lots of fun reviving poor souls, or repping tanks.
going in with max, deploy it, and shoot at stuff.. man i enjoy it.

but i cant, indar is locked, amerish is locked, esamir is being overun by nc, hossin by vanu..
Where the frick is this tr person to do ?

if you want to have zerg zoe and give people the Liberty of free will, then merge more servers, and dont do this locking.
we tried it, and its a disaster! now revert it

    sorry for my English guys
