Imagine..... if PS2 had been released with 10 continents, a proper continental lattice, seperate A2A and A2G fighter, faction sancturies and ANTs...... [IMG]

Latest continent locking update divides and isolates PS2 community. More news at 5.

The alert way of locking a continent is not a great idea and they use it so they can force people to have to play alerts. The only way a continent should be locked is if you push the enemy out of their warpgate to the connecting warpgate. and the only way the enemy should be able to get back on the map is by pushing the enemy. THis alert/94% is not a good mech in my option but what do I know.

I don't particularly hate continent locking because I see the necessity to herd the people a bit and prevent constant ghostcapping, which is not really that much fun if you're looking for action.

However, I do hate the current implementation of continent locking.
With the current implementation you can't prevent getting a specific continent locked at all. If you "defend it" in an alert, you win the alert and your faction locks the continent, and you can't continue playing on it either.
Nothing wrong with locking a continent if a faction owns 95% or so, because that only means the other two factions don't care about it at the moment and that locking the continent gives the owning faction some time to focus somewhere else without worrying about ghostcapping.
Locking a continent after winning an alert with, like, 1% difference is plain frustrating for the losers and doesn't feel deserved for the winners. A lock after a dominating victory - yes, that'd be right and well deserved. I wouldn't mind either to change the winning conditions for a dominating victory either, like having 67%, which is at least clearly more than the two other factions combined.

The bonus of 50% infantry res etc. is way too much. Maybe 10% was too low, but 50% more means that I can spawn Maxes more often than people can blow me up with C4 or that me and everyone can spawn Magriders nonstop.
Effectively such a high bonus means you get more resources than you can spend usefully, which is not only unfair to those without the bonus but it takes away an important strategic factor from those who have the bonus. If you don't have to worry about your resources there are less interesting choices, taking away part of the fun and meaning of the game.

Now it will be almost permanent lock on Esamir and Amerish. Hossin is plain terrible, it is a just a giant deathmatch map, where instead of tactical play, it is random death from everywhere. A continent for snipers, because mysteriously fog does not effect visibility at long distances.

On most servers this means exclusive Indar gameplay.

I would not mind this if Hossin was something good, but it is not. This is the worst update ever. On Ceres the population is visibly going down.

The problem is how we lock continents (alert/94%) not continent locking (fighting the enemy to the warpgate and then out).

Capturing continents and winning alerts have always been the meta. Its just now we have Consequences to the new meta. Now people are realizing how important it is to capture a base by getting on point and holding it. The days of vehicle zergs banging into each other and mere cert farming are coming to a close. The lonewolves will be killed, skinned, and mounted. As they should be.

    Isn't one continent lock enough?

As temporary as the incomplete mission system? How long until we get a phase two of that? As temporary as the current resource system? As temporary as the incomplete Hossin? As temporary as the wait we had for our 4th continent?

I'm just sick of all the incomplete and half ***** content we are receiving. It took them 2 years to implement an incomplete and buggy Hossin. How long do you think it will take them to release another continent, battle islands, and a revamped global lattice system? 2-3 more years?

I started playing this game with hopes of great things to come in the future. Well, the future is here, 2 years later, and I'm sick of all the incomplete systems and broken promises. I have no hope of ever seeing another continent, so it would be nice if they squared away the game in its current iteration so I can stop play testing buggy and incomplete features.

Maybe my memory is bad. But continental lock was including a Continental latice link, siege of warpgate and other cool stuff. And this continental lock is exactly that. Continental lock without being cool.

How is it healthy for those who want to play other continents at the same intensity level forced to play Indar 24/7?

I can't believe the **** pouring out of people brains, 95% of people wanted continent locking befor it was enabled, knowing very well that it was being introduced in a bare bones fashion, now I see 95% of people ******** about it! You know this is only the a crash course of what is to come for continent locking, you may very well see intercontinental lattice, warpgate battles and nexus make its way to continent locking, don't get your panties in a knot yet.
  13. BitteMitSahne

Implementing continent lock like this was never on the road map. Where are the with continent locking promised battle isles, where is the 5th continent?

Implementing CL like this only pisses people off. Which means less players. If I have the choice to play on indar or hossin or not to play, i choose not to play PS2 at all. And guess what ... not to be a member or give SOE my money.

So they forced a system which will speed up the dead of PS2.

What is the the play test server for ?

I stop complaining IF you give me ability to fight for MY Continent.

Now I cannot fight for MY continent. Now I fight ON my continent until randome alert pop up and goodbye Indar. Give me a continental lattice that WAS part of Continental lock, give me a siege of warpgate, epic last stand and I will stop complaining. Now take this half bake continental lock and blow it up.

The first thing fighter pilots learn is ground attack. Do you know why?

You can dream for a game that plays itself while you watch all you want, but if you can't make do with what you have, you won't make do after getting what you don't have.

I don't understand it from a gameplay standpoint.

The first continent lock I experienced was during a nice battle against the NC. I can't remember which base it was, only that it had 3 points, and the fight had swung back and forth about 3 times, with the Vanu finally pushing into the main complex to take the last point. Pops were nearly even, suddenly it's announced that the TR now control the continent, and a few minutes later I find myself locked out.

The second time was a few minutes ago, a nice battle against the TR, we'd been driving them up the map, but they made their stand and were doing a good job stopping our advance, we win the alert, and the battle's suddenly over.

I really don't understand this concept, what are it's good points? What is it here for, -50% resource on infantry? Wooohoo so my C4 costs 100 instead of 200....yay. I'm guessing it's main purpose is to force population concentrations on certain areas, which I think is a dumb idea. Let the players decide where they want to fight, and what territories they want to defend.

For me, planetside 2 is about huge battles that happen semi spontaneously. Idk, if there's something good that I'm missing about it let me know.

It's not an outrageous dream though, it is what we HAD.

A bit like people living after the fall of Rome probably dreamt about plumbing.

Of course people didn't (thankfully) just "make do" after the fall of Rome, or we'd all still be living in the Dark Ages.
  19. volth

Pros: Other continents get players, your faction get points, - 50%, you can show the other factions that your faction is best.

Cons: Forcing players to fight on maps they doesn't like, only two continents to fight on, winning faction be OP, big zergs, no tactics, high ping and low fps.
