I'm pretty sure that's the mindset, but I think it's more like "each player only remembers one good (famous) outfit and doesn't bother remembering or talking about the others". There are lots of good shooters split between different outfits, but no one really cares about actually banding together for alerts.
I'll take it a step further and say that I feel the amount of players that actually care for alerts on Connery is minimal. There was a time when alerts meant big battles, and a just a different kind of, "the way PS2 was meant to be played" experience. Now Connery has this every night, and when the weekends come, on every single continent. So there's little reason to stop doing what you're doing to go participate in an alert, especially if it means getting in a queue to leave your packed continent for another packed continent. Because the experience of fighting in an alert versus not in one... is exactly the same on Connery. Connery - the way PS2 is meant to be played? (some of you may view this as a bad thing!)
Once you play an America sever, you should already aware that NC will always hold the pop advantage ( Any faction can be farmed, depend on the player skill )
Many outfits have just stopped caring so much about alerts, sure they are fun to participate in, but in reality they don't matter as much as you "think" they should. They are not the end game, and we slowly are understanding that. You don't have to push a lattice line just to win an alert to kick the other faction's a**, and unless you are a large outfit, you are just another small force to be reckoned with that may be of better use elsewhere. The idea is don't just give up your territory just because an alert started and it's not right next to the alert objective, don't let a computer generated timer dictate your moves for you. Secondly, I see what you did there hidden in a wall of text. Lastly, all these comments are biased, hell, every day is pretty different, peoples moods vary, and yes some things are more common for one faction. Don't take most of what you hear about a server population as fact, as there are many different points of view. Check it out for yourself, and make your own opinions.
I played on Helios TR then quit when we merged with Connery and SOE let 50%+ NC pop (yea China) run rampant back in the day of scat maxes. Came back and game is better and server pop is better. VS had a big pop advantage because "VS takes skill and all skilled players went VS" uhh I mean ZOE MAX, then after the balancing, NC went wild with pop and now has majority pop. However, given that overall server pop is decent, fights are plentiful and mostly fun. Nothing seems really OP either. Unfortunately, SOE did a WG rotation not 3 weeks after the last one, so NC with it pop advantage has easy Indar access. That said, I despise the fights that a faction gets when they hold the northern Indar Warpgate. TR has always (since Helios) had the lowest pop except for a brief time at release when it was VS > TR > NC. As far as TR faction (I only play TR, I do have a BR4 NC from back when Genudine existed) here are my thoughts: 1. Overall good faction. 2. Some really nice folks. 3. Good outfits, large and small. 4. Decent coordination between platoons. 5. Some excellent platoon leads. <-- not an easy job so props to them 6. Focus is on taking the fight to the enemy--not farming. 7. Lot's of medics, engies and in general players who will go out of their way to help (I play medic and engy a lot) 8. Some real jerks though, bound to happen. TK'ers, griefers, grown men with minds of children, and outfits that were great then grew large fast and their egos followed suit. In general, TR folks on Connery seem to understand that this is a team game, not some MLG ****** stroke fest. So they need to help new players, help people to understand that if you're in a squad or platoon you need to follow orders (and a coordinated team is excellent fun). I haven't seen too much elitism--just a few bad apples who pee me off and generally get shot for it. From what I hear, VS has a lot of MLG ****** going on, and I am glad TR doesn't, being in my mid 40's, elitism in games seems ridiculous.
Pretty much sums up Connery TR. That last part about Helios I'd just like to point out that not everyone from Helios is like that. Me and my outfit we came from Helios and we don't do any of what you listed that the merge Increased. But again I do agree with the rest of it the Connery TR are a great group of people and they tend to be fairly decent.
Shrap, imagine if you will... and entire server full of players so bad, that VDRS/ODAM would be seen as elite and coordinated if they were moved here... ... ya... i'll let you wipe up the red fluid pouring out of your ears now. That being said, they dont TK even half as much as VDRS players... maybe because they havent found the fire button yet >.>
Woa you guys! As a Cr5 of PS1 let me tell you do NOT underestimate the usefulness of the zerg. A good commander doesn't try to control the tide but merely guides it toward the target. Outfits can do wonderful things, but the endless zerg is what puts pressure on the enemy. You might complain that most your faction players are morons who barely know friend from foe, but in truth the benefit of so much rabble is often lost. I can't tell you how many times I've died because of some BR10 who sliped through the lines, how many times I've died because a BR 15 had nothing to lose, or how many times my mossie is rammed because someone doesn't know how to dogfight. The zerg is a wonderful advantage, it negates a lot of the enemies force multipliers. Don't be so high and mighty to suggest they're bringing your side down, the zerg is a wonderful tool to have.
TR is always slightly underpopped... go TR and enjoy the game. And I don't understand how 'moved' applies to PS2. You don't move characters, you create alts. I have 9 characters myself not including the test server. You don't have to move anything.
*runs for the hills* Wait so have you like ditched Waterson for Connery? Why? Why in god's name would you affiliate with such morons?
An outfit would be helpful as people on connery rarely help someone outside of their outfit. I also gotta say moving to connery VS was the best thing I've ever done. Most balanced and populated server in the game at the moment.
It's because Levelcap (Battlefield youtuber) made a video about his return to Planetside 2 after a year of not playing and it got over 100,000 views. Guess which server and faction he plays.
Pretty much .. I think some people are also confusing " not caring " as lack of organisation .. Trust me all three factions know what they are doing, I'm not saying that's a good thing either ... Connery atm seems to have turned into Old McDonalds farm server .. Losing base after base ? Who cares people are camping a Tower Losing an Amp alert ? Who cares people are camping a Bio Lab IMO that's down to lack of motivation or reason to worry to much about Territory as a whole.. Welcome to PlanetsideVille
You can see the continent & worldwide population levels in game by going to the map (M) and fiddling with the UI in the top right corner of the map screen. Press the statistics button (the top of the three buttons on top right of map screen) and there's drop downs to access continent/worldwide pop levels & territory control for the continent. Also when you hover the mouse over a territory on the map screen, it will tell you the population levels for that territory in the bottom right corner of the screen, so you can tell if it's a fight that could use your help.
