    So.

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this because there seems to be an antithesis (or several) to every idea posted no matter how good or bad it may be, but I am prepared for that and only throwing this out there because it has been nagging on me all day and I can't let it go. I had a dream (literally) and an idea......I awoke at 4:30 am yesterday 1/16/13 from a VERY vivid dream of Planetside 2 (if you've ever taken Hylands calms forte' sleep aid you'll know EXACTLY what I'm talking about) whereby a random 4th enemy drop podded in on every continent of auraxis and all enemy forces suddenly became allies and banded together to defeat this fourth kind alien invader. The visual of the thousands of drop pods "slowly" descending was stunning (in my mind). My HUD suddenly lit up with an warning/alarm of "an incoming unknown and imminent threat" and suddenly I was redirected from fighting head to head with my usual TR or VS foe and thrust headlong into a battle beside my enemy to defeat the alien zurg. IT WAS CRAZY! Certs up the kazoo and scary looking alien troopers. (think resident evil, Independent-film: "The Burrowers", etc. ............use your imagination.

I'm no game mechanic but the idea is plausible. Random, unannounced CHAOS descending upon us at the game dev's discretion. You could be playing along for weeks, grinding at the usual targets and then suddenly.....Total focus shift. I'm not sure how it would all work, but I would love to hear your ideas.

Flame away or leave good ideas. Either way, they are both welcome!
  2. PharmD

Pretty sure Smedly has talked about doing something very similar to this down the line.
  3. Zapon

So, were these the Vanu and the Ancients? :p

Seems we in the Sovereignty are going to have to enlighten them that if they leave their toys around and abandon everything- of course we aren't going to let any science remain unused....
  4. Curse_Gamerkin

Yes theres been talk about a 4th alien faction, that would wage war on all faction on a continent, But it was also said this was on the very bottom of the list. We dont need a 4th faction of npc atm, theres plenty of new updates coming ( continents, vehicles, water, etc.)
  5. Pixelshader

    no pve plz

edit: Just googled that sleep aid and it's homeopathic.. seriously op?
  6. _S0LUS_

Instead of allies, all of you are still enemies.
Cease-fire agreements would make it fun. Other than that it would be a ****storm and ****fest of a battlefield.

    Glorious.
  7. forkyar

no thanks, adding a 4th empire of npc is a bad idea and 95% of the player base would quit at that point, just no
  8. P3STILENCE1973

Yep. homeopathic. It's crazy. I don't use any sleep aids often (once or twice a month) and I can't tolerate regular sleep aids and don't really care for the way they make me feel in the morning (groggy and stupid) I need a clear head in my line of work and these were recommended to me by a doctor and I can tell you definitively that they work and the dreams that I have with them are insane vivid and realistic.
  9. Snowwolf

4th faction is actually a good idea, but only if its player played, not NPC
  10. P3STILENCE1973

I don't mean "empire" per se, just a nice break in the monotony. 2000 random alien freaks dropping in trying to conquer the planet for an hour or two while you (NC) and your buddies (TR and VS) work together to eliminate them from Auraxis at 200 to 500 xp per kill. Think of it as BONUS day. NERFED NPC.
  11. oOCKYOo

In the year [insert appropriate lore year here] the empires of Auraxis started developing autonomous soldiers to increase the amount of soldiers they can field at once. These robotic soldiers would be the most obedient troops on the field, willing to play any support role indefinitely until death.
[Empire of choice with appropriate backstory] was on the brick of finishing these soldiers and starting mass production when the AI program went haywire. Since the other two races aquired this technology through espionage, the same thing shortly follow on their side and thus the [insert proper name for rogue robotic army here] were born.

Fielding weapons and characteristics from each of the three empires, each race will have to not only face the other empires but also the 4th empire that can field anything from all the races. Can each race face their own weapons?....

Or something like that would be cool :)
  12. oOCKYOo

if they spend a lot of effort on the AI and make it you know good then it could be interesting. Either that or low to medium skilled AI with vast numbers so you can slaughter them easy on your own but need to be careful not to get overwhelmed.

A 4th player empire would make balancing up until now useless as they would have to check everything with the new race in mind.
  13. FatSheriff

Oh yes great leader ...... Go and we shall follow!!!! ......but probs not =\
  14. bluEyedillusions

Placebo. You expect something to be, and your expectations make it so.

As long as you keep believing it's more than just water/sugarpills you'll continue to have good results.

    Don't stop believing.

As for your idea, like others said, the Devs have talked about events like that.
  15. P3STILENCE1973

You're right. There is definitely something to be said for placebo effect and expectations. However. I didn't really expect the homeopathic stuff to work. I'm not really a person who uses medication (I rarely use nsaids and aspirin). In fact to be clear: I didn't expect whacked out dreams. It was very obvious to me that I was having these vivid dreams in correlation with the calms forte'. I don't have vivid dreams or really any dreams to speak of outside of the times that I take the calms forte'. I suspected it was the calms causing it and spoke to my doctor and she researched it and sure enough. I'm not the only guinea pig that reported the same findings. But I will still take your advice and make like Steve Perry from Journey and "Don't stop Believing.":)
  16. bluEyedillusions

Haha your comment on Journey is why I chose that wording.

Anyway, yeah, I'm pretty cynical when it comes to homeopathy. Maybe there's something to what you're taking then.
  17. bluEyedillusions

I looked up that "Hyland's Calm Forte" and the results are not very good. I'd say it's more likely you had a vivid dream coincidentally, and then thought it was the pills. Now that you think it's the pills, placebo causes it to reoccur.

I say the following, not to be a jerk, but to pass on information.

People have, with those exact pills, taken TWO BOTTLES of them at once (with water) and nothing happened at all. This test has been done with tons of homeopathic drugs. You'd think that if they did anything, it would be really risky to take two whole bottles at once.

If you understand the way "homeopathic" drugs are made, you'll understand why there is no effect at all and why homeopathy itself is a money grab.

For those that don't know, homeopathy started around 200 years ago when medicine was in its infancy and involves taking a substance that normally causes something (say, an ingredient that in its natural state would keep someone awake) then dilutes it to the point of it not even being in the solution anymore, and says that it'll do the opposite (put you to sleep). I'm not kidding. Wikipedia it. Any "homeopath" will gladly proclaim these things to you.

For instance. Someone finds a plant that, when eaten, makes you unable to sleep. Someone comes into the doctor's office and says "Doctor, I can't sleep!"

The doctor then looks up what plant causes those symptoms, then puts it in water. He takes 1 part [plant that causes wakefulness] and 9 parts water, and mixes it. Then he keeps adding water until there is 1 part [plant] and ~1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (1x10-to-the-30th) parts water or even more in some cases. That's beyond Avogadro's number which states that once you've diluted something to 1 in 1x10-to-the-23rd you're only likely to have a 10% chance that ONE MOLECULE of the original ingredient even exists in any given sample of the solution. The homeopaths are diluting it even more than that, reducing the chance there's any of the plant in it to almost zero (believe or not, that's actually their goal).

Their idea is that when diluted that much, it actually works opposite of the way it works in high concentrations, and thus, should make you tired somehow instead of very awake. They say that the water molecules, despite no longer having the original substance mixed with them, somehow took on the "vibrations" of the ingredient. ((Yet somehow the water has forgotton all the feces and other contaminates it's had in it over the billions of years it's been on the planet! Also note: "vibrations" or "resonance" are two words that are LOVED by believers in things with no evidence such as healing crystals -- I really wish I were making this stuff up)).

The "active ingredient" is statistically unlikely in there at all after that dilution (when I say statistically I mean >.000000001% chance that one MOLECULE is in there). Then they mix this solution with whatever they plan on giving it to you as (either a kind of harmless powder or water to make it either a pill or a drinkable "medicine").

No surprise homeopathic remedies never have side effects.

Now, there ARE real medicines out there that throw the label "homeopathicalicious!" on it just to sell it to the homeopathic crowd, and because of that, I don't advise drinking two bottles of anything labeled "homeopathic" since it may just be real medicine who got the homeopathic label for marketing.

However, anything that claims to be truly homeopathic can be eaten by the bucketful carelessly without doing anything except maybe giving you a stomachache (present from eating a bucketful of... anything).

    Great video here:

I wrote way too much about that in a forum in which no one will care. Ugh.
  18. P3STILENCE1973

    !

I care!!:) It was all good information. Actually, I've read and discovered all of the things that you pointed out a few years back. BELIEVE me. I was a skeptic too. I am not a granola eatin' nature nut. I'm a meat shootin' carnivore. I am not one you would consider a "homeopathic endorser." I haven't taken any other homeopathic medications. I was having some trouble sleeping a few years back and my doctor (medical) suggested these Calm's things. I graciously accepted them while I was in front of her face and then scoffed at her after I walked out of her office. I didn't take the med's for another month or two when my wife finally convinced me to give it a shot. Low and behold even with my anti-expectations it worked. I think it's plausible that there is some placebo effect, but I'm thinking 15% at best in my case. Actually, There's a placebo effect with EVERY form of treatment. All I can say is go to the hippie store, get some calms and try it for yourself. There's no danger in it as you pointed out. Take it for a week and then report YOUR findings.............anyhow. This has gotten way of topic, but a good discussion none the less.
  19. bluEyedillusions

Yeah, quite a bit off topic; I apologize :/
  20. Zorro

Where do you buy this sleep-aid?
