[Suggestion] I gave up on SOE, so to the TR & NC on Waterson

Today VS had 20% world pop when there were alerts we had 10%. Now I do get kills but not as many as if we have even pops. Every room I enter has like 5 enemies vs me what the hell !! how can you call this balance. The NC and especially the TR should not be able to to create new characters on Waterson or the benefit of being underpopulated should be MUCH higher. I talked about this before but no reply came from SOE, therefore, I'm asking the TR and NC with lower ranks (new characters) on waterson to care about the game more than SOE and go to a more balanced server You will spend most of your time ghost capping here as VS freaking run to an empty continent when there are more TR/ NC. What a disgusting way to to make this game unbearable. I even suggested putting a queue for logging in as if the faction pop is too high then they cannot log in. This would have made people more careful when picking a server and not looking for easy fights. Have a nice day.

    With all due respect:
This game is a MoFo when you realize all the years of single-player rail shooter types of tactics don't work when your enemy is a living, breathing opponent trying to stay alive while killing you and your side.

    A 10% pop advantage doesn't equate to "5 vs 1 in a room".

Time to evolve. It's not SOE's fault you aren't doing it right.

I like to be outnumbered, 2:1 or even 3:1, I see that as a target rich environment.
If your PL is ordering you to a base where you are outnumbered 5:1, it is time to press P and leave that squad..

If there are 5 people in the room with the point, toss a nade in then walk in and finish them off.
If you down 3 of them, pat yourself on the back, your doing just fine, let your squad finish off the other 2 guys..
If you expect to walk in a room and Rambo 5 guys with your carbine... you are probably playing the wrong game.

When I tried that, after logging in, and NO VS on any continent, I just found it terrificly boring to be on NC or TR, they were just zerging around capping undefended bases.

Though I wonder sometimes why I pain myself to play the underdog, at the end of the day, it is more fun, lots of targets to shoot at, frustrating at times, but thats how I like to roll.

I didn't realize all of the shooters up until now were single player rail shooters...
So, where were you when Quake was around?

The OP's complaint is a legitimate one. This game falls apart when population issues get out of hand. Other shooters do not, since population isn't a thing and they're generally always even-player matches. Maybe at the time of day you play on the server you play on these issues happen to not be so bad, but the experience is not consistent for everyone, and that's the point. That "online FPS skill" you're alluding to doesn't come into play in this game as often as one might like it to.

I play NC on Waterson, and while I haven't really looked more into it I have noticed that I seem to fight TR a lot more often than VS. They could very well be at a real disadvantage. Me I just happen to try to play at times when populations across the server are very low and I frequently end up having to log off at some point simply because the game just doesn't work right without the right population levels.
  6. PhilDun

It is a significant disadvantage. I would not expect SOE to fix it. There have been many threads about it on these forums, and they haven't even acknowledged the issue. Nothing in the roadmap either.

Your best solution is switching factions.

Some people don't mind, and view it as being a target-rich environment. That's fine if your goal is farming certs. But if your goal is winning the game (i.e. taking territories / continents), then you're effectively fielding half a team. When VS has 20% population and TR has 40%, it's not a 20% population difference - it's a 100% population difference (TR has double the amount of players as VS)

What is the point in playing to take territory? They are just going to turn their zerg around and take it right back...
Certs are the only meaningful thing to play for in this game...

they made it matter when you are in an alert, we played yesterday and had 0 xp at the end !!
  9. LibertyRevolution

I don't play on alert continents, the underpop bonus for playing on the others maps is 50%XP, which is more certs than 20% for the alert.
Plus if my faction holds any territory on the alert, I get that XP no matter which continent I'm on...
You will find me at whatever base gives me the highest XP bonus and the best odds of enemies to to kill.
So that means I am normally defending random bases on Amerish.
I make 4000XP in like 5mins blowing a few gens rather than fight for 2 hours for a 40% territory control..

Vanu helmet is super generic, they stole IP from Geroge Lucas and stepped on Master Cheifs head, they still suck.

Gotta say it is a little tiring always having at most 28% world pop. SOE did a good job with the pop bonus though. I feel like it's totally worth fighting on a continent for the bonus (50% pop bonus + 20% alert + 15% defense and it's like I have a boost or something).

That being said, the XP bonus only benefits a person and not really the faction (and it's a "delayed" bonus) so it is hard to be effective as a group. I think that the way to help an under pop faction would be to maybe make vehicles cost less (decrease costs by the same as the pop XP bonus?) or decrease cooldown timers. Too much more than that and it's OP. The goal is to give the faction a way to get back into a fight but not just give them an outright crutch. Maybe make the pop bonus also apply to resources? These numbers are just suggestions but the ideas are there.

On the flip side there should be no penalty for being on the higher pop faction since it's not really their fault.

Hey,. Nomad? Yeah, it's 4AM in the morning dude.

    Give it a rest.

Besides, the warpgates on both Indar and Esamir are seriously imbalanced. The north WG on Indar has such a huge benefit compared to the others. TR had the crappiest warpgate pre-patch and there were constant complaints from the TR community about their poor performance.
  15. Kosetzu

Warp Gates is a serious issue in this game... There's obvious benefits and disadvantages to them. Generally the WG that is alone on their side of the map easily gets 50% continent territory because the other two WGs funnel towards each other too much. Some of the WGs have plenty of air resources around them while others have vehicle, and the other resource is almost exclusively located on the opposite side of the map...

I think they should spread out the different resource types better as right now there's clusters of one resource type forcing factions to either focus it or abandon it entirely. So you don't end up with the combined arms game, but "we only got air resources, can't use anything else". WG terrain is also a major issue, just look at Indar. While some enjoy certain WGs more than others (which is okey), there's usually a clear benefit to having certain WGs because of the surrounding territories, the terrain and distance to the Tech, Amp and Bio facilities.

Switch servers op and don't look back.
Hopefully you didn't pay any money for your character..(I know I won't)
  17. Bral

Ok you do know that every server has a faction with low pop and sadly there is very little players can do to change that.
