How to beat a ZOE MAX

Yet, in another thread I've been led to believe that the majority of ZOE MAXes will be Flak MAXes otherwise you're doing it wrong..?!

I couldn't disagree with you more. Explain how NC MAX still have the edge in CQC?

Thats hypocritical coming from you considering some of the inane **** ive seen you posting in the past.
  4. Bill Hicks

I'm sorry I said broken logic. Logic that can be fixed. No, yours is terrible logic. Teamwork and rockets. WOW such strong weaknesses !!!
  5. RobotNinja

No, it's not unusual to see a full squad of ZOEs and a couple squads or a platoon of infantry, medics, engineers running behind them constantly repair and reviving them. That's what it's usual to see. What is also usual to see is VS with double pop.

VS had nearly 50% pop from primetime last night, through all the alerts and up through FIVE AM this morning they still had 44% pop. And on top of that devs still gave them a month's worth of bonus points and took the top warpgate from the NC before they even had it for a hot minute...you know...because they're so underpop.

When you consistently have double the pop of both other factions, it's all good and well to say, "This is what you should do..." but in effect it doesn't really work when there's platoons of enemies, swarms of air and armor locking up and spawncamping every single base you own.

No it seems like your point is ignoring all the specific situations where the ZOE utterly dominate, examples being the biolab or techplant building where 2 of the 3 global alerts are focused on. Its these few instances where the game demands in order to win, we have to go in to take, hold and defend against these op pos ZOE maxes. So these specific instances you so like to ignore, you might as well ignore the fact that your MAXs are op. Oh wait...

And those instances of op strikers; not only have they been nerfed by new lock-on mechanics, they require at least a fireteam of dedicated HA's on a static firing position (thats 6 or so infantry not doing something mind you) focusing fire on 1 or 2 enemy targets so they actually die before flying off or getting away from the lock on range.
1 ZOE, can down 6 or more pubs before you shoot it to death with small arms, or hit it with launcher. Lets not forget the support troops with it, who can then res repair and kill another 6.

And tank zergs, really? Redeploy and find a farming position get the hell out of the spawn, gal drop your op ZOE comets on top of an elevated position, get your mags rolling down for a counter, hell you guys have sauron harassers that can hit tank sized targets from a good distance.
  7. gigastar

So you accuse me of terrible logic because the most effective ways to take down a ZOE MAX are not effortless, and cannot be performed by a single piece of dogmeat?

    You make me sick.

But Shield is for sure the most useful tool for MBT's. Magburn seems nonsense and the anchor is situational.

    See what I did there?
  9. xThundergodx

Yes i can see you behaved like a ****** there. The fundamental difference is that the vanguard entire balance is done around that shield, it is by far the worst tank without it and only becomes powerful in close-medium range engagements against other tanks when you get the shield, it is still the worst tank against infantry (hint: those represent the most common enemie), and it is still weak against tanks in long ranged fights.Point me out how that ability is op considering it only makes the vanguard the "top dog" in close-medium tank fights which are very rare.

ZoE maxes on the other hand have a small drawback that can easily be mitigated by running with kinetic armor or having support since they can sit at safe distances strafing around while running down fire and dodging hits. They get the ability to chase down or run from infantry at will, dodge rockets and c4 (hint: most common counter that aint a counter against them), extra damage and best but not least they can turn it on and off at will to adapt to the situation (i know 90% of you all are too dumb to ever make use of it but it is right in front of you).Even with the ability to turn it off and on at any time i gotta read moronic comments like "just shoot at it, it takes more damage than other maxes"

Bottom line is dont compare apples and oranges and try to make it sound smart.
  10. y3ivan

it seems like revivable MAXs are to be blame.
  11. Xasapis

Full flak would cut half the indirect damage. Therefore, a full flak armor ZOE MAX would lose 32 boxes of health instead of 35.
  12. Purg

Apparently C4 is the issue, according to the other thread - I have my own opinions. Disregarding Nano, should a ZOE MAX run KA or Flak?
  13. umbrellapower

To beat a ZOE MAX is to deny the ZOE MAX user the reason they pulled the MAX in the first place, which is easy certs.

My tip for beating ZOE MAXes: redeploy out of the hex they're fighting at. You're worth more than just walking certs for some ******* who can only have fun if they have a huge advantage over others. Bashing your head against them and dying horribly is exactly what they want, why give them the satisfaction of having "won" over you?

  14. Halcyon

I wasted 5 minutes of my life to basically realize you can kill a MAX by shooting it with something.

The fundamental difference is that magrider entire balance was done around the magburn and strafe, it is by far the worst tank since it was nerfed in January and the rest were buffed.

    Again...see what I did there?

The TR are suppose to be able to dish out a TON of damage. The NC are suppose to be able to TANK a lot of damage. The VS are suppose to mitigate damage by maneuverability. That got nerfed on the Magrider (in part due to the buff on the other tanks) and look at it is by FAR the worst tank on the battlefield. All you are doing is complaining about our faction trait, as has been since early in beta. At LEAST our faction trait can be compensated for with better aiming. You can't compensate against an enemy that puts out more damage or an enemy with more health, no matter HOW you spin it.

Also, ZOE moves too fast for engies to maintain any repair links and FULL kinetic armor only mitigates the armor redux by a little. Even just simple strafing breaks the repair link. Outside that, they can't really strafe as fast as you think. If you can aim at an infantry strafing sideways at 20m, then you have no excuse why you can't hit a ZOE which moves at the same speed and is twice the size.

Even WITH full Kinetic, I still run like a scared little girl when I walk into a room with more than 3 people staring me down (and barely make it out alive)

Also, just because you argue that you "can turn it off" doesn't mean most of the people ARE turning it off. So the nerf that you guys keep asking for, won't change amount of whine you see on these forums because only a very FEW actually turn it off to fight. Which would mean it's not that it's that good, but either that the forum warriors are that terrible, lazy, or dumb, or that they are just unhappy that they got something that is only defensive and can't be used to steamroll equal numbers.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, more than 90% of the people with ZOE ONLY have the first Rank of it because the difference between Rank 1 (150 certs) and Rank 5 (2.3k certs) is 1 bullet per kill. You take that difference away by slowly Ranking into the full speed, and that full speed will end up being possessed by less than 10% of the population (because frankly most of the population has better places to spend their certs).
  16. Yaj

ZOE... ZOE... My VS battle rank is currently level 52 (my main since launch) and I've yet to use ZOE once, head on against anyone (unless it's a deserted place with barely to no people). Hell the alert today, I was maining Engineer for fun and was repairing MAXes in the front lines and even NONE of them used ZOE while fighting 50+ vs 50+.

Is it because VS weapons leave tons and tons of trails that leads to assumption that ZOE is ALWAYS being used? LOL.
  17. Crayv

This is one of the issues with ZOE. The very first rank you get the entire part of what its biggest benefit is, the speed increase. The other two faction abilities you really need to get the higher ranks (especially lockdown).

One of the things when dealing with a non-ZOE MAX is you go for headshots, they move slow so it is easy to line up your sights and do double damage to them. With ZOE it isn't as viable. Then there is the obvious fact that ZOE can more easily dodge rockets than a non-ZOE.

Then there is the fact that ZOE can be turned on or off nearly instantly. This gives it yet another means to avoid its downside. Got a sticky grenade stuck on you? Turn off ZOE so you don't take increased damage.

Then finally we get to the damage increase. While I may have said it is one of the lesser benefits, removing 1 bullet needed to kill is still a very big deal and it boggles my mind when someone says otherwise. Imagine if the TR's Jaguar, the TAR, or even the T16 started hitting for 167 damage instead of 143. It would be very noticeable and they would instantly be regarded as the best weapons in the game.

It isn't any single one of these that makes ZOE OP, it is when put all of them together.
  18. Xasapis

Between the two I'd go for Kinetic. The probability that you will get gunned down from a semi coordinated attack of 3 people is higher to the damage you'd absorb with Flak.
  19. Flapatax

While I'll be the first to say ZOE needs a nerf, you people just need to aim your decimators better.
  20. lilleAllan

That's certaintly a big part of it, but that's a general problem that affects all factions.

The main offender in regards to ZoE is the speed buff. No MAX should be able to consistently move at that speed, and especially not while given a damage boost to boot.
