How does everyone feel about the Vanguard Shield now?

    Well, a lot of the Vanguard threads didn't rely on those statistics to make their arguments (while the defenders of the Vanguard used those statistics immensely). A lot of the arguments made in those threads did not have anything to do with the statistics, and could therefore not be refuted by the usage of such things (and they weren't refuted at all).

    So, despite there are/were obvious inconsistencies between the tanks, one should simply just keep their mouth shut about it, instead of voicing their opinions? Sounds like something you would hear in a dictatorship if you ask me. It's like not voicing your opinion once you discover obvious discrimination etc, at least in my book. Voicing our opinions is the cornerstone of the modern society, and keeping silent should never be encouraged!

    As someone once wrote/said: Humans are incredibly stupid, and they each come up with very stupid ideas. However, there are so many humans, and each human thinks so many thoughts a day, that once in a while, we get something right. If those people that had gotten it right would have kept their mouths shut, we would be living in a drastically different world.

    Enemies actually deplete the shield now when it has less HP. And I notice it lasts shorter. Not as good for escaping as it used to be. :(

    From the perspective of fighting against them in a prowler I feel the shield is in about the right place, from what i've encountered it seems still functional for cautious/seasoned tankers and I feel that they have to be as cautious and certain before engaging me as I do them.

    We've seen people complain with no feedback, people complain and offer up terrible feedback, and complain with reasonable feedback (not exclusive to VG Shield or VG) and opinions throughout this spectrum. Honestly, some people should not say anything, especially those that we can't more easily identify their play experience, or at the very least, their input should not matter when SOE weighs an adjustment or balance decision. So far with SOE's vehicle balancing decisions, looking at the Harasser, are pretty questionable on where they're getting input from to make some decisions.

    Not to squash free speech outright, but just because one has an idea doesn't make it plausible to implement in working towards either balanced or enjoyable game play. Not saying it's easy, but an exercise in foresight to change game play would be nice when the devs are asking anyone that plays the game on what should be changed and how.

    After quite a bit of driving I noticed something that happens regularly. The shield breaks. It's not 2s duration nerf that matter, but BS 1/3 hp nerf.
    In toe to toe hit trade AP Magrider + Lightning can beat AP Vanguard with side armor.

    1v1 shield still provides godmode.
    1v2(and more) its suddenly almost useless.

    Is this the balance you were looking for?

    Yup, all this nerf did was reduce the front line power of the vanguard where it was already the worst tank because even with the old shield you can't really do much charging a bunch of tanks, lol.

    Well, now when Vanguard is catch by two MBTs- Vanguard is dead. But still VG is the only tank who has a chance in such duel to kill at least one tank. Well, cnosidering that none MBT can survive meeting two other MBTs- it is balanced now.

    Vanguard caught off guard from long range is in hard/dead spot. But if Vanguard engade othe MBT in mid range- he is in advantage. So well, pretty balanced. But shield now is missing something....

    I think shield RANK could use some buff. Maybe again duration up to 8 sec (dmg mitigation was nerfed so thats not a problem anymore) or make Cooldown reduction more significant, like 25 sec on rank 4. Becasue right now VG shield is somehow meh to invest in ranks becasue you dont feel like you get something significant for 2,1k certs :/

    It is at least a step in the right direction. It also does not provide as much protection from being flanked as it used to, which is an important factor for me. There are many places where with even slight situational awareness from the Vanguard (and the proper positioning in those places), it is practically impossible to bait the Shield effectively while taking cover, as the Vanguard can either back down further (without using Shield) or charge you (using Shield, and winning). This is something I have taken advantage of in my Vanguard numerous times.

    Another issue I (and others) have had, is the lack of a choice about what to equip in the Utility slot. When I'm in my Prowler or Magrider I see obvious uses for both FS and the ES abilities (and Smoke, in specific situations), whereas when it comes to the Vanguard, the Shield is clearly superior to the other options. I don't think this nerf was the right way to fix that issue, and that is why I'm not fully supporting this nerf that has been done, as I think it was a bit lazy, and didn't fix all of the issues that were present. I would've preferred some down-side to using the Shield (no, the cooldown is not a downside like the others have) so equipping FS for instance, would make more sense in certain situations (even if it is only 20% of the situations, that would at least imply a choice!).

    If the cooldown was reduced to 25sec, even fewer (if that is possible) would ever use anything else than Shield. I think that is the wrong way to un-do some of what has been done at least. That is actually one of the issues some tankers have had with the Shield, that there simply is no other choice (which is not only due to the Vanguard, the Shield would also trump all of the other ES abilities in 9/10 situations).

    Also, if you are attacked by an enemy tank from long range, why don't you just back down into cover? :p They shouldn't be able to take you down from such a range at least (but now that I think about it, that might not be what you meant, so if that is the case I apologize :p ).

    All this nerf did was reduce the number of times the shield became an 'i win' when the driver had over extended or was flanked, it is still difficult for attackers to win if they flank, and still forgives you for some over extension. Vanguard was and still is the only tank that can tank considerable damage. It is still the highest base armored, hardest hitting, and still the only tank that can survive 2x c4 and it is still the best suited to hunting other tanks. Hardly the 'worst' tank (looks forlornly at magrider), and all tanks favor poorly if they 'charge a bunch of tanks'.
