how do you kill a heavy ?

Get a shotgun and jam it into the HA's belly. Shotguns at their optimal range do far more damage than an LMG at the same range, so you will definitely be able to kill them first, unless they also have a shotgun. Ideally, you'll want to be ambushing him so that the HA doesn't have time to react and so that you can attack from a more advantageous position. Don't shoot back at him if he's shooting at you first, and just run away instead. The longer it takes for the HA to kill you, the easier it is for you to kill him because he'll possibly waste bullets and shield energy in the process.

^^ this. A double tap (or so) to the head with a semi-auto shotgun tends to drop everyone pretty quick.. but you must be on target. With a heavy, time is against you.. so getting the drop and a ferocious DPS is the only thing that will keep you alive. That means shotgun up close and personal... and go right to the head.

For medium range.. I tend to set the AI turret.. that drops anything in record time.. you just need mates to protect your flanks while you are in the turret. I find even in crazy situations an AI turret can be a benefit. When you lay it down, try to do it in a place where you can fix it from cover. I've found if I do that, frequently one or two heavies will light it up with rockets.. and I just farm the XP by fixing it.. and if the heavies are firing at your turret, they are NOT killing your mates.. its a total win!

You leave a sandwich lying and then attack from behind while he NOM NOM NOMs

    Oh wait, wrong game

As an engineer, if you go round a corner, immediately retreat, odds are he has started opening fire, slowing him down, chuck a grenade around the corner so it will bounce very close to the corner. While this is happening, set up your turret, if he chooses to pursue you, mow his *** down.
Otherwise I'd use my standard tactics in CQC, 2 commissioner shots and a knife will bring him down.

When playing medic, I have the least problems with HAs when using my Thanatos VE70 semi-auto shotgun or the H-V45, since it has laughable high dps and advanced laser sight option for cqc. Even the Orion cant compete with those guns. If you start shooting you should win even if he pops his shield in time.

OP said "even if I jump sometimes they still get me". In a straight, 1v1 fight against HA you won't win, plain and simple. You can aim for their head... but they can aim at yours.
  7. SirIBON

Yep thats true, but i want to increase my chance.
And i believe (and a bit hope) a HA will easier aim for my Body, as long as he has more bullets and more health.

In Sum, i will try to win, while you allready lose.

    I have a foolproof way:
300+ range & AV turret. You'll squish them like bugs.
Can't help with the CQC. Maybe if you have a drop on one, you could try throwing a grenade.
  9. Serafine

This doesn't help against all HA. I use an Eidolon Battle Rifle with 4x Scope and HV ammo, I would laugh and snipe you off that gun.
However if you get me in CQC you'd probably win, even as an Engineer (if you have a good aim) :D
  10. Adept

Ofc. but using AV turret for killing HA is like sniping. After a few kills an engineer would just move on to another spot or risk getting counter attacked. Well most actually take the risk, but kill a few infantry prior getting shot. Gotta take some risks :)
  11. Hrafnagaldr

Pretty much most of my Lancer kills are Engineers that think they can hide behind AV turrets :D
  12. VakarisJ

Shield makes heavies move at a reduced pace, which opens way for easy headshots.
  13. Hypersot

I never notice who I kill or who kills me, combat is *that* fast in my case :p

seriously, just play to your role, that's the best advice given so far by everyone that posted. I never complain that I can't beat my black-belt martial artist friend, seems natural that I can't, doesn't it?
  14. Calisai

For me.... "pull the trigger a second time" (PA shotgun, if you don't miss...)
  15. Get2dachoppa

You're an engineer...why aren't you blasting that HA from a tank, harasser or lolpodding him from the air?
  16. Snoozzzer

How do you kill a heavy?

By shooting at him. Just as you would every other class.
  17. Erendil

    1. Pandora with slugs and scope of choice
    2. Sirius SMG w/ Adv Laser and ADADA strafe like mad
Both of these options will cut through HA's pretty effectively.
  18. KnightCole

See ha spam lmb while screaming "DIE FUTHERMUCKER"

    Idk...give it a shots
  19. Bill Hicks

    Shoot out of render rockets.

    1) Hip fire and aim to the head while strafing left and right rapidly

Why? Once the HA uses his shield his mobility speed is reduced...even if he was strafing he is easier to hit than you who isn't using a shield.

    2) Depending on the distance, you might want to look into knifing. A quick burst of bullets + knife (~600 dmg) will kill him almost instantly BEFORE he uses his shield.

A good HA will hip fire and strafe to utilize his non-shieled mobility to be on the same strafing speed as you, waiting to eat a bit of dmg before activating his shield. The spiked dmg created by the knife will kill him before he activates his shield.. Then again, a good HA might do the same thing to you...shoot + knife.

    3) Try the underbarrel shotgun (attachment) or auto-shotgun with/without slugs. Again the idea is to create spiked dmg. Remember, as an engineer you can resupply your underbarrel shotgun yourself. I've seen engineer get the grenade launcher but that's a completely different topic, the bottomline is if you invest in the gun that supports the underbarrel shotgun, you could always get the grenade launcher later.

Try both in VR, I'd say they are probably the best weapons for engineers but that's just my personal opinion. The underbarrel shotgun will 1-shot any NPC in VR (you have to shoot at point blank or close to). I'm not sure if a player with nanoweave can be 1-shotted though.

    4) Max out nanoweave. You can be very squishy if you don't have it...

    Short range = hip fire
Med range = depends on the weapon, some weapons are extremely accurate with a laser attachment and hip firing will work, others...you will have to use your sight
Long range = kneel, use sight, burst fire (the kneeling is optional as I am pretty sure it doesn't affect aim while using the sight, it's just to offer a smaller target to the enemy)
