June - Outfit Tournaments

We'd like to create a structure for direct outfit competition to be used for tournaments and e-sports. Outfits will be compared to other like-sized outfits in leaderboards which can be thought of almost like "weight classes". At specific events and periodically throughout the year, top outfits will be invited to participate in outfit wars which would take place on instanced battlefields and would allow outfits from across servers and across all empires to fight each other for ultimate bragging rights.

Key objectives of this initiative are:

• Participation in the tournaments is based on accomplishment over time within the larger game of Planetside 2
• Compete against rivals both on your server and off, as well as test yourselves against other outfits in your empire
• Rank outfits to compete against other like-sized outfits
• Instanced, objective based maps with clearly defined win and lose conditions

I can dodge grenades, cant you? Also you can spot through flash grenades, dont shoot at people, shoot below triangles. Oh and conc grenades, AWESOME IDEA, why didnt anyone else think and do this? Oh because it doesnt work, gotcha. Not only is the max you conc already aiming at the door so *fire and everything dies* conc wears off, oh I can move again but dont need to because i'm already aiming at the entrance.

Oh and lets not forget the key of walking around any corner in a biolab and facing a NC max suit there, do you get this when fighting tr/vs? No, because theirs are not OP. But against NC you walk around a corner and appear for a split second, either die instantly, or instantly run back around a corner and die around there anyway due to server lag and client side hit detection. Client side hit detection in esports is a BAD idea.

Just because the NC fail to understand they're overpowered doesnt mean that competitive gamers are as blind.

How about we get the game fixed, balanced, and optimized? How about a reason to play on Amerish or Esamir? Is that too much to ask before MLG nonsense?

When ps2 was announced I was really looking forward to an epic updated version of ps1. Instead we get ****e like this .

This game might lend well to E-sports when it's done. Like in 4 years time or something. IF pro gamers decide that the game has merits. Right now, it doesn't, and this is a PR farce.

Im sad its gotten this far. Cooler heads should have prevailed long before this mlg sillyness got to this point. This game is no where near done, its bug after bug. Its an MMO, the GAME is 3 empires, 600 v 600 v 600.

What is with this trying to make an esport? Seems fine if a game becomes one because the GAME facilitates that, seems fine if a game is made from the beginning to be one. But a game whose concept is not conducive to an esport and a game where you need to tach a bunch of after thought BS on in some pathetic attempt to make a game that makes no sense being an esport an esport?

Why? For publicity? really SOE you want people to try this game? they will quit, this game sucks giant ***** for new players. Maybe you should do somthing about that first. Maybe you should work on fixing bugs and finishing the game first. Then once this game is playable for new players, relaunch and have some commercials on TV and on the large PC gaming sites to get some exposure.

This is not the way to do it. All you are going to do is waste a lot of time, money, and resources on something very few think is a good idea.

8/10 new players booting up PS2 for the first time during GU04 would likely not be pleased with the way the game runs. They would be confused, too, and get farmed but probably be more frustrated by the frame stutter.

You can't play StarCraft 2 any other way.

And that's a fault with Blizzard. LAN should be an option, even if it's not preferred for whatever reason.

That's gonna be real exciting to see how balanced the game really is when the numbers of peeps are even. Given most peoples experiences are either everything is fine, or everything is OP at least we will have some additional stats to throw around.

Personally i think the whole idea is going to crash and burn, cheating and exploiting abound, i really can't see this working. Perhaps SoE have secret weapon, just wish they wielded it in the game proper and not wait until competition mode to start properly balancing and sorting out the hacks and exploits....
