Help for a noobish infiltrator

Having spent countless hours sniping away at stationary targets, but blatantly missing anything that moves, I'm beginning to feel like I'm being left out on a secret to successful sniping. I run the game on the lowest quality with 20 fps. Can I blame my failure on how the game runs (probably not) but I would appreciate any tips or tricks from some more experienced players

Well there are a lot of videos of experienced hunter infiltrators. See videos of elusive1 with the Ghost (as far as u are Vanu)

Welcome to the world of low FPS,im in this world too :D But im stalker :p

Btw time give experience and now that im BR30 i die less than when i was BR10. So if u cannot kill, dont worry, time give u lessons.

As weapon recommendation with low FPS,i remember when im NC infiltrator, the only weapon that i can manage somewhat good are AF-18 Stalker and some SMGs. So,in the Vanu side u have the Artemis. But if u looking for a sniper, the Ghost is really a very good weapon because its the only bolt action sniper rifle that u dont move while u aim,so u dont need to stop breathing while aiming like other snipers.

Oh and remember that for kill moving targets u must have good reflexes, but this means to shoot in body, because to shoot in head with a bolt action sniper while ur target are moving is somewhat overhuman, specially in longer distances, there are exceptions like our friend elusive1.

sniping on moving targets is one of the hardest things to learn, it takes a lot of dedication to you rifle
you need to shoot where the target will be not ware he is count in bullet velocity and bullet drop for long range targets

i think i can call myself a veteran after 3 years off PS2 and it's still hard for me to shoot moving targets at long range
especially if i go for the head shot
i am not a sniper specialist because i play mostly smg infil but when i need to snipe i go with a BASR and 4x scope

i suggest to watch some video's, here are some examples you can find many more on YouTube

Ohhhhhh geez. 20 FPS on low settings? It's not IMPOSSIBLE but I can't imagine that helps any. If you want to practice sniping, grab a friend and pick any bridge on the map. Stand on one side while they stand on the other and have them run back and forth (side to side) until you learn how to lead your rifle. It takes time to be able to snipe further and further but I think the longest bridge in the game is about 125 meters so I think that should be a good start,

Yea get a new rig, don't think you can do much with that one in the game.

I know the pain of 20 FPS, I used to play on a trash laptop.

You can still do somewhat decent with a bad rig, try to keep aiming at the stationary targets, and always look out for manned engi turrets. With 20 FPS aiming at moving targets with literally any weapon in the game is a nightmare, but it isn't impossible. If your target is shooting back, on low FPS the bullet flinch will absolutely destroy you, so try to engage targets that aren't shooting back. This is obviously true for any sniper, but especially true if you have low FPS. I'm not a dedicated sniper, thus the best advice I can give you for shooting moving targets is to aim for center mass, 2 hits to the chest is better than 3 misses for the head.

IMO, persistence is the key to learning how to shoot at moving targets, enough time with a rifle and will just know how much you need to lead a moving target.

(This doesn't have to do with hitting moving targets, but I still think it's good advice for a sniper.) In the past 5 or so times I've done sniper runs, I have not been counter sniped. Not once. This is because I re-position myself after almost EVERY shot, and I try to NEVER show my face. Keep yourself cloaked and only uncloak to fire, when your cloak runs out duck into cover until it recharges. Keeping all this up and still getting kills is hard, but not impossible.

P.S. I hate getting sniped with a fiery passion, pls spare me

First, low graphic settings and 20 fps won't allow you to be a good sniper unless you do that all day, everyday...
(Before the optimisation, I was playing with 20 fps like you do)

You juste can't see where your bullets go... it's terrible.

Secondly: don't even try to hit moving players past 60 meters. Seriously, you will probably miss your target, but more importantly, enemy players will spot you.
(I play with a x8 scope on my "very long range" sniper... If I play with a greater magnification, I will be tempted to hit targets way outside my effective range. I don't want that, I need to stay undetected)

Thirdly: a static sniper is a dead sniper. You MUST be moving, always. You need half a second to decloak, hold your breath and shoot. After each shot, and while your looking for a target, you must be straffing... I've killed quite a lot of cloaked infiltrator juste because they were completly static...

Also, but that counts for every class in the game: be aware of danger. Notice other snipers, light assault if you're in mountains, they have a greater mobility than infil there, etc.
