hi there im a relative new commer to planetside and i think ive got a pretty good handle on most of the mechanics but im here to kinda change it up a bit normally i play a medic but im wanting to start learnin the heavy and ive know enough about my playstyle to where i know i wanna gear out my heavy to mow down infantry but find myself being frustratyed due to lack of knowledge but i was havin some fun. i play NC and have been useing the freebie gun they gave out (EM1) any help and advice form u heavies out there would be much appreciated
I hate using the heavy assault, I always forget to turn on the shield. I've heard a lot of bad things about the EM1. I don't know much about NC weapons, but the default SAW is great if you can manage recoil
yea ive heard it referred to as "the god saw" mainly due to the 200dmg per bullet but coming from EVEonline i tend to look things over carefully before committing.
hello and welcome am pretty new my self to and test allot during the 2 weeks my play style is mostly go after the tanks try to lower there numbers so my team have a better way to move forward if the enemy spam so 10 tanks and we have only 1 ore 2 its a pain to win so i try to blow them up as much as possible also focus allot on suns and look for them try to find a other way around the enemy because a sun can spam more and more enemy players til we get over run by them when the sun is blow up the enemy need a longer way to get to us so we have a bit more time to set up a defense am not rely a skill player with a gun i cant aim very good mostly when am behind the enemy i can kill a few but that's it also the NC have the most fun rocket launcher of all the Phoenix you can hide everywhere and shoot your rocket because the camera is on your rocket so you just control it and look where they are and boom but the range cap is only 300 meter and hitting aircraft with it is also not so good most fly to high and to fast ore it must be a slow big one that fly low but i mostly use it for tanks max suits and eng with there turret if you are a good skill player and can aim good to and love close combat try the jackhammer i have it to its a beast of a gun and if the enemy don't see you first you can kill 3 players easy but then you need to reload that's so far i can tell you sorry for my bad English
Dunno why you got the EM1 it's a more of a suppression weapon than a killing weapon. Should have given you the EM6. Anyway, buy a SMG for starters(cyclone preferably)- I know it's 1k certs, but with a 1x and extended magz you will be godly in CQB and a prominent threat mid-ranged. Also, and this is the best thing SMG's can be equipped on all classes(try some SMG infiltration ) making them one of the best 1k certs spent. Advanced Shield Capacitor+Default shield is what I use. Once you get the hang of it try buying the attachments for the god saw so you can laugh at enemies in the face as you drop them at mid range.
The "god saw", I use as more of a long range weapon since it fires so slow but does high damage per bullet. The EM6 is like my all around gun, not horrible at range, but not good. It still serves me well. I find myself not even equipping my SAW since the areas I would use it would be better set for a battle rifle or switching to another class. Edit: If you're at long range, pick up the SAW or long range rifle. If youre med/short range pick the EM6. Extreme CQC I'd use the jackhammer. That's just me and have only been playing NC on and off but it seems to get the job done.
Invest 100 certs, buy the GD22-S: laser sight and 2x Reflex or Iron sight. Don't ever use a 1x Sight unless it's the NV: it's not accurate and it has less magnification of the Iron sight (which is 1.35x) For the shield it depends on your playstyle. At first buy 2 levels on the basic one , then you'll choose either the Adrenaline or the Resist. At the beginning invest in Flak/NW armor. If later you choose the Resist Shield, then take the Advanced Shield Capacitor, because RS doesn't stack with NW or Flak. Unlock ASAP the Medikits (at least the lvl 1 and 2) and the lock-on G2A Rocket launcher. About the EM1, I like that gun, but you need to ADS a lot.
That EM1, you will find takes a disturbingly long time to kill and loses to anything that deals more damage per shot or fires faster. It has really good handling but its RoF-dmg ratio sucks..... Its a great ambush weapon and good if the enemy doesnt fire back. Also, NEVER put a suppressor on it. Its damage is already sad, a suppressor will **** ur damage down to nothing...might as well throw rocks then. new to NC HEavies, Maybe you can make the EM1 work for you, and if so, enjoy it, kill people. Otherwise I advise you get the EM6 or learn to play with the NC6 Gauss SAW. That SAW is a brutal killing machine in the right hands and situations.
Kind of hard to tip you how to cert out your heavy as there are several ways to build him and it all comes down to preferance. Myself I run Adrenaline Shield, Nanoweave armor and C4, but that is a quite expensive way to build him. The cheapest way I would assume is to continue to cert out the nanite mesh shield (starting shield), advanced shield capacitor and medkits. Koolaid made a quite long guide for HA here in 2 parts Part 1 Part 2 When it comes to teh EM1, well it is easy to use and with a foregrip and burst firing it performs like a laser, however it has low damage per bullet and a low rate of fire so a lot of other guns will out damage you in closer ranges. Soft point ammo upgrade on it will help its low damage output in close range but it still doesnt perform to well there. The Gauss Saw on the otherhand does beefy damage but is a bit unwieldy and frankly a difficult weapon to start out with. It needs upgrades for 330 certs to just be useable. (Adv. forward grip, compensator and optics of your preferance). Gauss saw, certed properly is very accurate but it is only when you stand still while firing, if you strafe around while firing it it is very inaccurate. As someone earlier in the thread suggested, buy the GD-22S for 100 certs, use that in close-mid range and use Gauss Saw / EM1 in mid-long range. Hope it helps
Despite the great information posted above, I'll give you what I prefer as a loadout for 'mowing down infantry'. EM6: 1x/2x reflex, Compensator, Foregrip Commissioner: Laser Sight Shrike / Decimator I run with maxed medkits (regen kits should NEVER be certed..) Maxed out Flak Adren Shield 5 (Some people like Resist, but I love the benefit for getting a kill that this shield gives me) Concussion Grenade The EM6 is a great weapon, much better than the EM1 in terms of killing infantry, and with that conc nade / shrike or deci you'll have little to no trouble facing MAX suits.
Don't take weapon advice too seriously as it is more of a personal preference. You might find a gun that just "works" for you. I personally think all the NC lmgs are decent but you would probably have your own favorite(s) if you explore enough. VR is a good place to test, but understand that real battle can sometimes feel different. Aim for the head
well ive done some playing around (alot actually) had to take a step back and i found that if i engage ad the 20-50 meter range is my butter zone. my new personal best is killing 4 before i was dropped. and the loadout ive had the best results is -godsaw adv foregrip and reflex (once i figured it out i ended up loving it. tho i have tried the EM6 in VR and damn thats a sexy gun) -nanite mesh shield -nanoweave - saving for a concussion nade but ive heard ppl have alot of success with anti-vehicle nade in infantry setting simply cuz enemies seem to think its a standard grenade and will attempt to tank it but on a different note i had a rather lengthy convo about heavies with my outfit CO and from what he says, the foregrip only affects the side motion of the gun when your are fireing and as the LMG has almost none putting a foregrip on a LMG is useless and u should put a lasersight on it instead. but seeing as i almost never hip fire laser site seem the bigger waste of certs.
Got to butt in. If you want to learn to aim and shoot consistently. Get GD-22S, use it for 500 or so kills and try other weapons then, you will feel the difference.
Why med kits and not restore kits? I have Restore kits up to 3 on almost all my toons. They heal pretty much instantly as well...its not that short of a delay. Ofc sometimes they leave me down a touch of health...but its not a huge deal.
@KnightCole If you want to play competitively you'll take the medkits. That super slow regen of health from regenkits is terrible for most situations. It'll probably do you better if you're a HA with his shield up going into a room of squishy targets, otherwise there's no reason to have it. Medkits are simply better. They're instantaneous and heal your entire health. What's not to love?
Oh don't you start putting words in my mouth. It's unsanitary. Both medkits and resto kits are useful. Resto were weaker prior to nanoweave change, but now should be on equal footing. I was too lazy to explain. But here's the thing. Both of them keep your health up, but medkits only can save you, if you're lucky and/or have help from others while healing under fire. Resto kits enable you to fire back way better, also let you to have extra hp as a heavy or medic, especially works well breaching rooms and using resist suit/shield. Both are decent and work well, but neither is better than other. As many other things, it's about playstyle. Medkit works as a get away card, while resto kit works as get in card.
