I agree, heavy is overpowered and this is coming from someone who's played it more than any other class. The primary reason for this is the ammo capacity of LMGs. AR's in this game have the same clip sizes as you would expect from AR's in call of duty, battlefield, etc, but their time to kill is much slower than in either of those games and they are significantly less accurate at range. What this means is that you end up using more bullets to kill people than in other FPS's, but you have the same clip size. Essentially it is difficult to get more than 2 kills with an AR clip in this game without perfect accuracy. The LMG gives you much more wiggle room and allows you to miss shots will still picking up 4+ kills in a clip. This is an MMOfps, situations where you have lots of targets occur ALL THE TIME, and consequently it really helps to have a 75 shot mag vs a 30 shot mag. Beyond that, heavies have their shield which is the best ability in terms of raw killing potential, and is best in a 1v1 situation. They have rocket launchers to protect themselves from vehicles. For all of these advantages they really have no drawbacks, and that is the problem with the class. They need a movement speed nerf imo.
And one more thing I forgot to mention. LMG's in most shooters suffer from heavy recoil and inaccuracy, in PS2 they don't have these problems. Some LMG's have moderate recoil, but most of them are virtually recoil-less especially with a forward grip and compensator. Their accuracy at longer ranges isn't great, but AR's suffer from the same problem. LMG's are essentially AR's with much larger clips and marginally lower long ranged accuracy. I'm not suggesting that LMGs should have high recoil, LMG's are rarely used in most shooters because of their recoil and inaccuracy, but they also slow down the user in most shooters. When you take away both of those drawbacks you're left with a pretty overpowered weapon especially in the setting of an MMOFPS.
A lot of this is hyperbole and highlights your inability to comprehend the game mechanics. ITT: Tankers mad someone can kill them when they drive lonewolf up into a populated area.
HA's are the most used class because they're the only ones that can reliably destroy vehicles. Simple as that.
The best way to fix HA "overpoweredness" would be to give everyone access to the anti-vehicle rockets, in an alternate item slot, so they'd have to give up C4 or Medkits or whatever. And it would also reduce the vehicle zerging that happens now. Everyone's happy! (Okay, not vehicle pilots, but does anyone care about their happiness?) I didn't think so.
Go try out NC LMG's and then tell us they don't suffer from heavy recoil. **** I hate people that cry out for class nerfs.
The rocket launcher gets one shot, and then needs to be reloaded. The projectile is much slower than a bullet. The LMG is not the best gun for every situation. There are plenty of times when having one of the abilities granted to another class would be more useful than the shield.
