So early today, I got jumped by an HA with his shield on. I killed him. Now you might be asking, "Mith, how on earth did you manage to achieve such a miraculous feat?" To which I would respond with, "By putting a few pieces of lead in his brainpan."

Now, I'm not trying to brag or say that I'm an amazing player. I'm not. I have a KDR of less than one. But then that begs the question, doesn't it? If I can do that, then why are so many people crying about it?

You never stopped to think of the implications of that, right? At this moment MAXes are ridiculously overpowered in infantry gameplay, that would be an indirect buff to them

Besides, LAs are just as good at both AI and AV, in a different way though.

Actually, I usually go Auraxium some medic or engineer weapon so I can say "Wow all those whiners about heavy assault are absolutely terrible." [IMG]

Then go back to playing whatever class is best needed for our current squad comp no matter what it is. As stated from the post above, heavy is the most needed because of the way the abilities of other classes scale, so I happen to play that more than the others which is how every versatile player should. Those who choose to play a dedicated role (be it medic, engie or infil) to their squad, this won't be the case but they will bring more to the squad as a whole.

Although normally I would disagree with some of your stances, the writing is so well executed I can't help but like it. Purple star for you I guess.

Shush my precious carnage, he lies, he lies!
Must... unlock.. reaper DMR and put some 200 dmg rounds into his brain.

In terms of "unique" weapons, the TR have the Sabr-13 (-> which is an NC weapon dammit! They stole it from us, precious) and the TORQ.
    TAR? eh, GR-22.
Where is the TR reaper DMR, I missed it in the weapons page.
NC medic can pick weapons from 800 rpm to 469 rpm, and is plenty effective as an anti-infantry combatant.

VS AR. eh they look pretty (sniff.. not really)
They have no bullet drop. Ermagerd.

Suppose I have to make a choice, RL or LMG. I pick LMG. OP: are you happy now? No? Thought not.
It is a bad idea, and bad idea's should not be implemented. kthxbai.

    Heavy assault, not heavy defense.
Ok. When I plan an assault, I want all the mobility I can get. I want to be sneaky too.
So now, the shield has a 1s delay to activate (except the resist shield), but heavy assaults no longer glow, and aren't slowed down by their shield.
This allows them to really assault into a room and murder every puppy inside, even the ones with moist eyes after the conc hit them.
    Deal?

    Go ahead and play PS1.

"enough ammo to take out a vehicle or two". "an army of infantry".

    Infantry first:
let's say I pick the anchor (NC CQC-ish LMG), I get 250 bullets. Amazing!. Likewise for the MSR-W and the Orion. The carnage AR comes with 210. Others bring 180 bullets. The engineer truly has unlimited bullets. And because of engineers, in many cases, bullet capacity doesn't matter.
Far more often though, I'm dead before using all my precious bullets.
Anyway: not every LMG comes with 400 bullets.

"a vehicle or two". Which vehicles are we talking about?
Stock, the heavy assault has just enough rockets to take out a sunderer. (that isn't being repaired, of course). Miss one dumb fired rocket and the sundy probably survives. Presuming it stays around whilst you reload 4 effing times. The heavy didn't kill a vehicle. The squad did. (if he got to you with C4, then that is on you)
    Lockons actualy deal less damage.
Are we shooting rockets into lightning rear armor?
One vehicle, maybe. Two: not really..
as a heavy, you will die faar more often without killing a vehicle,
and faar more often you'll kill one vehicle, than killing two vehicles without an engineer providing extra ammo.
(noob pilots hovering for a dumbfire are a delight however)

There is a class that, in theory, can take out unlimited vehicles at range. He also can take out more at point blank. It isn't the heavy; it is the engineer, with the mana turret, and mines or C4.
Unlike the Phoenix, the engineer can still 1hitkill pesky enemy infantry,
unlike the heavy, the engineer doesn't bother with stupid things like ammo,
unlike the heavy, engineers guided rockets don't suffer the same maximum range (or don't seem to), and their guidance doesn't give a warning. Legends are told of skilled warriors steering their missile around a rock, or even switching targets if the intended is destroyed.

And, the bestest argument of all: you get a free pistol. Huzzah! Rejoice assault brothers.

Giving infiltrators more things to hack: sure.

If Heavy Assault is "supposed" to chew through enemies, and everyone plays Heavy Assault, why is Heavy Assault even needed? Isn't that a zero-sum game? What's the point of Heavy if we have AI MAX, and if AI MAX is "supposed" to chew through enemies, why, too, is Heavy?

AV weapons aside, HA adds absolutely nothing productive or useful to this game. It's a crutch class designed to be played by poor players who need help winning fights. The fact that people in this thread are saying that the 'proper' way to kill a heavy is via some sort of instagib weapon, as if that logic isn't totally ******* warped, and that it's balanced because you can headshot them from 150m away with a BASR.

Why don't we just make a tank that's got an automatic 400 rounds-per-minute 120mm cannon, drives as fast as a Lightning, comes with a Skyguard built into the secondary slot, and has twice the durability of a Vanguard and say it's balanced because it explodes if it flips upside down?
  9. Ikarius77

So... Basically you are asking for a massive infantry battles without soldiers...

A whole bunch of engineers, medics and maxes....

    Funny... And curious.

The problem is you only value raw HP.

Today, our team was stuck fighting for a bridge making no progress. So i looked at the battle a said what can my LA do.

I flew under the bridge came up beside a box I knew the enemy was using for cover and C4ed 4 HA and 1 medic then gunned down 3 more in the back before I was killed. Then my team pushed while everyone was dealing with me. A HA can't do that.

You do have to think of ways to use your tools as LA or INF to make things happen. You are not suppose to charge in on foot like a HA. You suppose to jump around and attack the enemy is way that are impossible for a HA

I think the most shameful moment I've ever had against an HA was getting owned left, right, center and sideways by this one NC BR28 with no kill streak interrupt at all and the guy having shield left over every. Bloody. Time.

So I got curious to see what I was up against, checked out his stats and killboard, and there it was: 1.38% accuracy. Yes, you read that correctly. This guy was the worst shot in FPS history.

Then I looked at his recent unlocks: maxed absorb shield, max nanoweave armor, certed-out LMG. "Ah..." I said to myself. "Nevermind. Nothin' but mad skillz up in here, yo."
  12. Zotamedu

Based on this story, I really don't think you have any right to criticise other player's skill. Sounds like you were doing something horribly wrong if that guy was owning you that hard.

It reminds me of the first ever hate tell I got. We had just capped a base and I was out back keeping an eye on the spawn. A cloaked infiltrator came running from the spawn straight towards me. So I shot him in the face with my LMG (one of the cheapest cert wise, can't remember which). I got the tell "P2W much?". Was that you? Thinking that running head first into a HA while cloaked would actually work?
  13. NCstandsforNukaCola

So much hate toward HA in forum these days

It comes and goes. People are really upset for a week and then they forget about it. Wait two months and the same threads reappear again. It's an endless cycle. Same with the one hit kill bolt action rifles, the existence of spawn room shields and of course air being OP and UP.

Edit: It's been awhile since I saw a thread about NC MAX being OP. Guess it's soon time for that again.

    Not with that attitude!:p
  16. Alchemist44

    Oh, this again.
Yes, HA is supposed to be more tanky (not OP, thats something else). That is its role: soak up damage as the squad pushes forward. Similar role to a MAX, only not as effective and cheaper.
And the whines of HAs winning 1v1 fights because of their overshield... I bet engineers win most 1v1 fights from behind their mana or AI turrets. Or how about I deploy a shield recharger as a medic and stand in it? Or fly above your head as LA so you dont even have a chance shooting me due to your gimbal lock (or whatever its called) and drop a C4 on your head (which is cheaper than maxing out an overshield cert-wise)?
If I wanted to exaggerate the argument a bit, Id say its like complaining that in a 1v1 situation an MBT will outperform a harasser.

  17. placeholder22

    Ok, you get an overshield.

And the heavy gets the ability to become invisible, heal & rez people, repair stuff, and can fly.

And then all classes are the same and it's balanced.

Oh god, its the hit reg above all else.........If SoE could ever truly return hit reg, ATLEAST to the point of where it was back in Dec of 2012, then HA wouldnt be half as bad *** as it is now. I have put literally 30 rounds into Shielded HA chests and they mow me down, still showing most thier health and shields left....its like goddamn.......ONLY if you put like 10 in the head do they die....And ****, this stuff isnt limited to only HA, I see Medics, infils, engis, they all take obscene amounts of shots to down.....

Is only SoE could truly fix hit detect.....w/e the issue maybe......

Cuz think about it, back a year ago, there wasnt a fraction as many HA OP threads as there is now....I swear, HA OP is like the new trending topic on this forum, and go figure, its been about ever since the beginning of this year, or atleast after the release of OMFG patch 2, which is about the time the hit detect and w/e else really took a nose dive....and ever since then, this game has just been sheer rage, and stupidity to even play. Ofc, I no longer do...complete with KnightCole, BR67, 5.7KD...deleted lol.....to bad, I liked this game, but im saving sanity...the amount of guys I unloaded on and died to cuz of hit detect.........it just got to annoying....

Oh, give it another year, we will have just that im sure.....

Complete with a standardized progression like say, TItan fall, where every person gets the same stuff at the same level...same classes, same titan, same everything...../Boooooooooriiiinng....

Medic can bring players back from the dead. LAs can get almost anywhere. Infies provide vital intel. Engies get infinite ammo dispensers and turrets.
