Heal packs vs restore packs

Playing nc putting certs into resist shield and more hp. Usually play with a squad off regular clan members

Whats the difference between the heal packs and restore, and which is better for my spec?

    Anyone ?

I *think* if I remember from beta that the Heal packs restore a smaller amount of health instantly, while the restoration kits restore more health but over a small amount of time. I'd have to re-test to confirm though. I use the restoration kits personally.

How much do the 2 heal for? And is there a cool down?

I bought restore packs because it was the second item i got, and it was cheaper. They heal the base 100% health, if you have nanoweave, you are not going to get a full heal if you had very low health.

My only complaint with it is the time it takes to heal, if you are in a combat heavy area, you will probably die before you get topped up, and you feel vunerable when injecting. Also there is no cooldown, but you need to purchase more upgrades to hold more.

(cost 75 infantry to resupply 1 unit)

You pull them out like a weapon from the utility slot (note: only one type of utility slot item can be equipped at a time) and then press the fire button to heal yourself. The 'instant' one I believe is actually a full heal, but costs more certs and resources. The restoration kit is not a full heal, maybe 70%?, but they're cheaper.

Really, if your health is damaged your shield is gone by default, so you have to wait for the shield to come back anyway and the restoration kit's time delay is meaningless so I say go for the cheaper resto kits. There isn't really a benefit to being instant and it's very rare that I find myself with almost no HP left. Usually I'm dead or more like 40-60% hp left.

I can't recall a time when a heal kit didn't instantly restore me to full life. There's no downside besides the setup cost of certing them. Maybe they cost more infantry resources, but that means next to nothing.

thanks guys, going for the instants then :)

Not really true on the cert costs. The instant ones cost 50-100-150-500 while the slow ones cost 30-100-200-500, making them MORE expensive by level 3. Resource-wise they cost the same, at 75 each.

It takes soooooo long for the resto kits to work, and they don't even bring you up to full health if you are heavily injured. I used them all throughout beta because they were cheaper but since release I've been using the medkits and they are so much better. An instant (about 0.2 seconds) full heal may not seem like much since you're not trying anything risky on that much health, but the OPTION to go back into the fight immediately is more valuable than you might think.

The time delay is also NOT meaningless since there's a green glowing aura around you for the duration of the heal. For medkits it's over in less than half a second, but for resto kits you're lit up for its full duration and even a little bit afterwards. Not a huge deal if you're behind cover, but it matters nonetheless.

I prefer med packs over restore. Tried the restoration packs for a stint in Beta and hated them. Very glitchy.

No one has actually listed the proper advantages and disadvantages here. Plus some people are talking out of their hats and given you blatantly incorrect information.

I can say for the restoration kits that if you have nanoweave armour they will sometimes not restore you to full health. I don't know if the same is true for healing kits. Either way the healing is similar enough not to be a problem.

The real difference lies in the fact that restoration kits are a proactive form of healing (that can be used reactively but is not as effective) and healing kits are a reactive form of healing.

Say you are about to round a corner when you know there is an opponent there waiting for you. You can pop a restoration kit before you round a corner to give you a few extra milliseconds of survivability (which is significant in FPS). On the other hand, if you were using a healing kit you could duck around the corner again before the fight is over, quickly pop one to be at full health and be at an advantage.

Different styles. Neither one is the best.

instant heal is what i use. The biggest point for restore packs is that you dont have a personal shield so you usually waiting. but what i do is i wait till my shield starts to restore then i pop my insta heal so that way im at max health. If someone is following you you will die either way so atleast im saving my self the hassle of using less kits and having to purchase them less as well

I use restoration kits for the thing Ruvan has mentioned. Basically treating them like stim packs for an added edge in CQC 1v1.
  14. Falanin

Yup, Resto, THEN charge in with resist shield up.
  15. Canaris

I prefer the HoT of the resto pack, more HP in the long run is preferable

Not sure why anyone would choose resto over medkit, you get instant full health with medkit.
