never understood why a battle pass hasnt been implemented yet, it works in so many games, your gonna have crybabies saying no, but the people who enjoy battle passes outweigh those crybabies. halo infinite does battle passes very well. obviously someone was designing stuff with amazon prime bundles, why not focus that work into a battlepass instead.
I only disagree with the "upgrade the engine" part, because I don't believe it will be this ultimate solution, that now everything will run better. Any game I played on Unreal Engine, was absolute filth compared to Planetside 2's engine. It didn't look better, it didn't run better. On this PC, in the year 2020 Planetside 2 ran 150-200% better than now. And currently the game is said to be dying, so lower pop than ever and I lost double the FPS of what I had back then. (Game also looks visually worse now, on top of that FPS halving)... They need to be asking why, the developers, what did they do to lower the performance by half? They need to work around their engine and understand it. Their engine could not have been designed better in terms of performance and graphics. Thought repeating again the game is now not playable on anything other than low graphics, which BTW is a terrible advert, that youtuber would love to advertise the game but it looks terrible because nowadays that's the only graphics you can play on. In 2020 I had perfectly stable performance on high graphics and looked substantially better than now (2GB Graphics Card)... The devs could have taken opportunity of the game's age, that the reason why we have low graphics were for those with lower end PCs to be able to compete, and now that everybody has a much better PC than in 2012, now that a 2GB graphics card (lowest standard today) could run ultra graphics and compete.... They could have removed medium and low graphics options... Because there's not use for it other than gaining brutal visual advantages, which is firstly unfair, you can't advertise the game then because you're under a handicap with higher graphics, cannot compete. And we could have instead been all be forced under 1 form of graphics option, to keep it fair and visually attractive. BUT NO, the devs decided to lower performance by half, keep the settings there because statistically most use low graphics, and then the population is dying because visually this game looks repulsive. From a foreign perspective, who wants to play a game that looks like a piece of crap and is being described as a dying game.
Are graphics important for marketing? 2012's Planetside 2's graphics with Physx > look more unique and environmentally better than 2022's Warzone 2 graphics. So PS2 2012 already had better graphics than pretty much all of the fps games, even for the next 10 years. Did graphics then; hype planetside 2 & keep players? no. It should have, but didn't. Some say well the fps wasn't that great then, well it was for sure playable. & I'm sure plenty of people had good fps then. So graphics, even being 10+ years ahead of their time, did jack nothing, to promote Planetside 2 during 2012 - 2015. The first trailer was " cool ", while still not enough people heard of Planetside 2, when they needed a hype train. So their first mistake was not promoting this game, the way these stupid PHONE GAMES do. Meaning why does Raid Shadow Legends and a few other lame castle defense app games get tons of ads, a freak ton of ads. & Planetside 2 the best fps game ever to exist, gets only one SOE trailer. Find whoever cut SOE's marketing team's funds & make them spend their life savings resurrecting this game. Obviously someone saw the project, didn't see the potential, and cut the initial marketing phase to nothing. SOE should have SHUT DOWN all of their other lame games, Everquest? nope. STAR Wars mmo? That had like 6 legit trailers to, when it was always a freaking average mmo. Then put all their funds into Planetside 2 which is a new genre revolutionizing the market. Yet they didn't because SOE is so wack, they can't even figure out for sure if they want to be a game company to begin with. Don't even make a game with half your foot at the door & the other half missing. While you got devs asking for more funds, from a company that's prob barely interested. Also devs should never work with a company that won't freaken ADVERTISE for you & instead waits till you get player numbers, before they do. Which doesn't happen unless they market a ton first. - So yes graphics don't mean zip. Have you seen 2012 Lasher's hitting Indar's sandy horizon, with tanks on fire, while Physx is going off? Way better than anything I've seen from Warzone 2; which looks like your running around a beige cotton field of apartments average looking. I think graphics would bring back vets. But not do much for bringing in people or hyping the game. Seeing as the main issue this whole time; was SOE not having a 2nd follow up official trailer to their first official trailer. A 2nd cinematic trailer, leading to a 3rd, from SOE. THE MAIN ISSUE; isn't graphics. The main issue for marketing, is that they don't have much hype personality around Planetside 2. The game was never molded to " hype ". I played PS1, tho I didn't start PS2 till 2016 & from 2012 - 2016 I didn't hear anything about the game. So to people who say, " well people try the game & quit is why " no no. Theirs still like 80% of PC gamers who've never ever tried Planetside 2. Just go into any game & ask. Go to Path of Exile or League of Legends, ask the POE chat or TFT lobby is they've " played planetside 2 " One one guy is gonna say, " oh I've tried it ". The other 40 guys have never installed PS2 and some never heard of it. Even the few guys who tried it, haven't tried it again for many years & are surprised the game is still alive. Those who've tried the game usually have good reviews. Just didn't stay around. Another hype issue. The game for sure deserves 300,000k players; has better features and idea's than Apex Legends which has 300k. Yet failed at marketing so bad from every angle from 2012 onward; that it has 300,000% less players than Apex. Yet PS2 is x10 a better fps game than Apex, even without Apex's funds. So what then? I don't know, nobody knows. How do you build character, hype persona, magnetic interest, around a old game, that was always underrated? I just know, that if graphics didn't sell the game for 2012, then it's not the fix. SOE had to keep their hype train. For whatever reason Planetside 2's lore or art style doesn't sell on it's own. Better fps formats don't sell on their own, & better rewards to unlock isn't enough for fps players? Way funner stuff to unlock on a MMOFPS then a dumb lobby or battle royal game. Way more people per map? bigger maps? leveling systems? class system? people are clueless. Ultimately you need hype trailers that succeed, similar to Oshur during lockdown. However all games had high pop during covid and dropped pop after. Still maybe a successful hype update then woulda worked. Even so someone needs to learn how to market MMOFPS's. If they ever do plan to make Planetside 3; work with a team for a Dune MMOFPS or a WH40k MMOFPS. Then the main thing they need to work on; isn't graphics. It's 2nd & 3rd hype trailers, while keeping a marketing character that stands out. The hype after the first cinematic trailer; has to succeed past the first 3 years. If it doesn't then the game is f'ed. " smart marketing " " character hype " 2012 might not even be a good year to promote a game; it's not like Guild Wars 2 pop is doing good either. I think from the time when Retail WoW wasn't very popular, around Mists of Pandaria. Wasn't a great time to market a game.
