Have you bought any voice?

I got the NC Tough voice and like it! The only voice-related thing that has really bugged me so far is the way it automatically calls for ammo when you spot on a friendly engineer and automatically calls for a ride when you spot on a friendly vehicle. People are ending up calling for ammo constantly by mistake trying to spot enemies. The "starting repair" thing could use some refinement too (I don't need to tell myself that I can repair my own vehicle when I start repairing it). I would also have liked to be able to preview them in the VR like everything else.

The NC Tough voice at least also calls out that she's spotted enemy infantry sometimes when she spots an ESF. I filled in a bug report for it.

The added variety is really fantastic though and some of the voices are very funny (the Grizzled one is great and has some hilarious lines), and some of the new callouts are really helpful - I especially like the one when someone places an ammo pack and the ones announcing kills.

The default NC male voice ain't bad but everything is better than the default NC FEMALE. It's more than worth it in that case.

No I dont find the voice packs particularly compelling. Although the gruff NC female is rather hilarious, I could not give up the standard squeaky NC female voice

I bought the grizzled male for TR. It was a nice lower pitched change compared to the regular voice.

Was tempted to get the Daredevil one since the voice sounded familier...

Greedy is it? So you get the opportunity to play a game for free, and just because SOE try to make money by selling in game items you call it lame and greedy. In your opinion this should be given for free, as a missing feature in a game that you pay nothing for

I bought one of the voice packs, I don't look at as if I'm paying £5 for a new voice pack...I look at it as I'm paying £5 to support the game...maybe you want to try a different perspective.

Play for free and pay nothing if you want, as the free players benefit the game by giving it a more healthy population than it otherwise would have if it was subscription only, but don't whine because new cosmetics aren't given to you for free in a game thats already free to play.

Yeh I had this problem as well, all voice call outs for me and others just stopped working altogether....had to relog to get them working again.

I want to get alteast one of them, but there is no "real" way to preview them.
Especially the "Thank you" and "Affirmative" commands are important (to me), and i want ot know how they sound before making my decision.

The TR ones are too similar to each other. I ended up preferring the Smooth one, with Calculating coming in 2nd and Tough 3rd but the differences are so miniscule I chose based on the colour of the icon! "Gruff" one, if that's the name is HORRID and I feel bad for the person who voiced it >.> The default is OK but if I hear it once more I'll likely go crazy, which is why I bought one. Also had 500 SC sitting there collecting dust, so it's fine.

My main issue is, these have the same accent more or less. Where's the Russian one ETC? Hopefully SOE doesn't plan to have the voices and accents sold separately(For example, having the "Calculating" voice with the "Russian" accent for a total of 1000SC).

Oh, did I just give them more ideas to make $?... :S

And I'm still waiting on basic Commands like "Go! Go! Go!" or "Negative".

To be honest after listening to them all, they've made them a tad over the top - that is to make them different they have been made pretty cartoonish.

That's fine for TF2 (because it is cartoonish), but in PS2 I'd rather they be different in accent/tone rather than in which TMHT/TRGB/He-man cartoon villian I want to be.

Having said that, it may be a little harsh, because with most of the voice packs it's only the the more urgent/loud shouts that seem to have ventured into those realms...... the calmer shoutouts seem to be fine and I could probably piece together A shoutout I would buy if I could take different shouts from different packs.


(to illustrate what I mean I think it's NC Grizzles that sounds ok until it shouts for a medic and suddenly it goes from "grizzled" to more Shaggy Rogders. )

Roughneck for the TR. feels bad man, these voice packs should have come with the game. everything is market-based in this "f2p" version of planetside

I would buy that too. I auditioned the TR voices and they all sounded like the same guy to me. PS1 had a wider range, including the panic-stricken male greenblood. "In-Incoming MAX UNITTTSSS!!!!!!"

No, and I don't plan to. WIth my current audio settings I ca barely hear them anyway.

Yeah I did, NC stalwart. It's a pretty awesome voice, and I enjoy not feeling like a clone as much anymore.

VS Roughneck. Such a familiar sounding voice, but can't place it. Really good!

I'm still looking for the one I want, I'm leaning towards the calculated VS one so far. I really hope that they make more voices and I would REALLY like 2 things...

1: Have the NC female read lines for VS (and or TR) I'd buy that in a heartbeat I love that little NC female voice ^^
2: Have voice actors imitate celebrities ^^ Like Arnold Swartzy and Christopher Walken or so, how cool would that be.

Just imagine, in a Walken voice: C'mon, I mean.. aaw.. you shot me... in the face...

The VS "Stalwart" pack for the male sounds very good.

If I still have five bucks at the end of the month, I'll buy it.

We need MAX specific voice packs, would pay for that (Think space marine/terminators from 40k)
