harassers: the most imbecile idea after sniper rifles for cloakers

While I don't necessarily disagree that the Harasser is too potent of a vehicle...

How does this void the purpose of the lattice system?

The Lattice is designed to influence troop movement vectors to give them known places to attack / defend. It NEVER was meant to force them to only attack bases, head to head.

In fact, I would argue that vehicles like the Harasser only because lucrative BECAUSE of the the Lattice. If you don't know where an enemy's "front" is likely to be, you can't easily find their rear.

The real problem, to me, of Harassers is much like what the problem was for Aircraft: few people take the time to provide defense against these threats.

The best defense against a Harasser is either an AV Harasser or a MBT. If you have those on your flanks / guarding your rear, you are well protected and Harassers aren't as much of a problem. When I run my Harasser, it is either to circle wide around and attack exposed enemy vehicles, or to defend against people trying to do the same.

In the end, though, both of those reinforce the purpose of Lattice: to provide a front. And when you have a front, you also have flanks and a rear to be exploited. And when you have those weaknesses, you need someone dedicated to defending them. There isn't the XP bonus to doing that because half the time you are sitting on your duff, waiting and watching.

The Harasser is team vehicle. It requires at least 2 people to use it effectively.

The Composite armour change was the right change to make. Now it's a little easier to at least chase them off. If I die in a 1/2 Prowler to a 2/3 or 3/3 Harasser then I think that is working as intended.

Any Harasser that comes near my 2/2 Prowler when I have a Halberd or Vulcan as a secondary soon runs away or dies.

If you get killed by Harassers in your MBT then don't risk the 1/2 dance with death and above all don't let yourself get isolated from other vehicles. Experienced Harasser drivers single out 1/2 MBT's that have strayed too far from the vehicle zerg and gobble them up.

Personally I really like this mechanic.

    It didn't.
Level 3 and 4 are still enough to park in front of a platoon of infantry and kill them one by one with your weapon of choice, as long as they don't use rockets: then you just dodge them and go back at farming infantry.
If anything the reduction in armor only helped consolidate Composite Armor as the one and only defense upgrade to purchase.
Sony has to either REMOVE the ability for an Engineer to repair on the move, give it a massive (eg. 1/10th) repair speed penalty or make it so either/or the gunner and driver are also exposed.
The other possible changes that I can think of would make it so Comp.Arm. is even more required, too fragile, no longer fun to drive or incapable of outputting enough damage to be useful.
SOE will probably nerf the thing into the ground and then take 3-4 months before it's back into a useful state.

It is not super Easy to hit with the Secondary either. But with a little practice you can easily keep those Harassers at bay and if they make a mistake then you will shred them.

Enforcer is definitely good at making Harassers run. However a good AV Harasser crew can also shred your tank as well. The best way to take out a AV Harasser is usually with another AV Harasser.
  5. Rogueghost

I'm pretty sure they made a lot more money from selling harasser cosmetics then weapons, who even buys weapons with SC anymore? Its not like its hard to make certs.
  6. Spookydodger

This is how I view it. For an unorganized mass, the Harasser is an overpowered vehicle. For an organized group with people guarding their flanks, the Harasser is a pretty balanced vehicle.

They just need to reward people for guarding a group's butt.
  7. Tradewind

My tank pilot is usually a goddamn surgeon with his AP turret, I'm ok with an Enforcer. Harassers aren't a problem.
  8. WTSherman

Harasser would be a lot less annoying if lockons could hit it reliably.

I know this for a fact because my TR character has a lockon that can hit it reliably, and to him Harassers aren't any worse than any other vehicle. :D

    "nerf" -
    Harasser Tuning

    • Stock resistance to small arms fire reduced from 85% to 80%
    • Composite Armor bonus reduced from 6/12/18/24 % to 5/10/15/20%
    • Adjusted the pitch angle on several of the Harasser weapons so that the player could aim lower to the ground

Actually, it gave me a whole crap load more certs than just tanks.
As many strictly infantry type players didn't bother to use any vehicles, when the harasser came out, those same players are pulling out these harrassers and now I am able to get much more kills, since they don't bail, and more experience since there's more vehicles out there. People didn't like driving very far, since these are fast, people wouldn't mind driving quite a distance.

ANd yes, 2 default gunned sunderer owns any harassers out there...You just have to get in the gunner seat and actually start firing at em. And if they must, the driver can stop and start repairing.. However, most sunderer drivers are 1/12 and the ones deployed, the infantry tries to run away or whatever. Making it really easy for the harassers. I have never lost a sunderer when I just quickly went to the gunner seat... Always... always the harasser died or they had to flee fast.

    That is significant.
Do you know what it's like having a MAX with full comp armor compared to one without? Those little % amount doesn't seem like much, but it's a huge difference.

Max Composite Armor takes about 70 Basilisk shots, which really isn't that much even with the relatively low rate of fire.
The Basilisk has been considerably beefed up recently, however, so it's probably just a happy coincidence that it does so much damage against a Harasser.

While in reality after the nerf a maxed comp armor Harasser blows up in TWO clips from the default TR/NC HA guns..

I dont see where the problem is really.

  14. Rodinvac

You are factoring both the base damage reduction and the Comp. Armor DR?
With a GAUSS SAW within max bullet damage range 2 magazines would be 4000 points of damage that would be reduced by 80% by the stock damage reduction alone.
  15. Roamcel

    Very easily witnessed.
Thanks to the lattice, properly placed AMSs in heavy fights can last more than an hour.
In the last example that comes to my mind, my friends and I were fueling a line near vanu archives, and the front was moving back and forth on the three sides.
It was a perfect spot for infantry with a rolling plain and heavy rocks for ams cover that protected it from direct, indirect and air fire.
Dozens of enemy land and air vehicles were destroyed.

Yet all ended when 3 tr harassers rolled together.
There were something like 12 infantry stationed around the ams (not counting the same amount and more around the spot, moving forward or on the mountain or flanking), 2 vanguards and 3 or 4 maxes.
In a single pass, the 3 harassers took down the vanguards almost immediately.
In the second pass, the 3 harassers mowed most of the infantry, camped the ams, and destroyed it.

    The harassers were manned 2/3.
So a "6 people" squad destroyed 2 vanguards (both geared and 2/2), killed several infantry (don't remember if the maxes were still operational) and destroyed the ams. All of the 3 harassers survived.

It is quite obvious that harassers pose too much a threat to tanks, and don't take a reasonably risk from them.
And don't even get me on the sunderer vs harasser thing. No sound sunderer driver equips the stock guns, which stupidly are the only ones proper to at least fend off an harasser.

Is the Harasser the new Hacksaw? Hacksaw is so bad now that I use double Falcons. FALCON PUNCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mebe U should not think of nerfings, but of improving the other things???????? NC Secondaries............ STILL USELESS :D No, seriously! When will the Nerfing stop, and the Improving begin? If something fails, it needs improvement no? HEG Pounder anyone/ Anyone? Anyone/ Why nerf stuff when bad things need attention... with more counters available, would less nerfing happen? pls less nerf more fix of bad weapons.................................................:)

the harasser is the most fun vehicle in the game right now hopefully it doesnt get nerfed into uselessness
although i do agree that repairing on the move is a bit OP, everything else about it is fine

i love having a good separate driver and separate gunner vehicle
  18. Forkyar24

I disagree, harasser is fine how it is, its very easy to kill and if you cant kill a moving target that's your problem baddie. on the repairing thing while moving, its not that easy, you have to aim it at the tires but even that is flakie if it will work or not get over your selfs.
