We just put 9 mines down. In two lines. The harasser drove over 4 or 5. All exploded. But the Harasser survived. I know that 4-5 or exploded because of the chain reaction because they were lying close to each other. But it def. drove over 4-5. So is this a lag issue? Or is it legit? Never drove a harasser myself. Can someone explain pls?
Noticed that as well a couple times. Harasser drives over mines, they explode, no damage registered. Not sure if it is lag, or if there is a built in delay, etc.
A harasser using Turbo will move faster than the mines can detonate. Especially if they just barely clip then with the tires. Youll either just graze them with minimum damage or none at all. Mineguard can complicate things further, but i next to never run it on my harassers. Turbo over them. Unless you hit a line of mines parallel, youll just make it by unscathed most of the time if you hit them perpendicularly.
so what's the pupose of mines then?` mbt, sundy and lightning driver have the mine detect implant, and because they are pretty slow, they can mostly break before. But a harasser that is driving past a sundy and farming infantry can't be stoped? sounds pretty f___ing stupid?!
This a definitely a bug, you don't need mine guard just driving fast and your harasser can go over mines with minimal damage. The only way to get a fast moving harasser with mines is to place 2-3 close together, the first one triggers the others before the harasser has cleared the explosion.
As people said before me, it's a bug due to latency. Note that this kind of bug work both way : the harasser crew won't see your mines if they have mine detector implant.
Where is the server? If Connery, I also often encounter that phenomenon. Perhaps the phenomenon occurs because server latency is unstable.
Maybe we need a special magnetic mine that clings to any enemy vehicle nearby before it explodes? They are weaker than tankmines but you get like 6-10 to place, and for harassers you only need a couple to get the kill, while you might need all 10 to kill a tank. This would also allow you to defend a bigger area from harassers.
didn't you know? you aren't allowed to kill buggies, they're immortal! but on a serious note speed plays a major role, as obivanu said if the buggy is going fast they're actually past the mine before it explodes and will only get hit with minor splash damage (if any damage at all)
This is not intended gameplay, mines should detonate instantly beneath a vehicle. Problem is they dont detonate instantly due to lag. If a harasser, or indeed any vehicle, moves over them at speed they can be clear of the mines by the time the game catches up and detonates them. Its not just vehicles either, AI mines have the exact same problem, many times ive drifer jetted over active AI mines and heard them detonate behind me. With everything else planetside, the more players there are online / in the area, the worse this becomes. Ive seen mines take plus of 4 seconds to detonate....thats just plain wrong and should not happen even under the worst circumstance. Solution (kind-of) Place a engineer barrier behind your mines, or a mana turret. If they try to ram the mines thell get stuck on the barrier and hopefully explode, these things tend to suffer from render issues aswel so many times theyl not render until its too late for the driver to avoid. Sidenote: You can kill enemy harassers following you by running over their own mines, the detonation will probably line up with the harasser behind you and not you lol. Also the idiots who put mines all over the tower bottom floor are asking for trouble, my harasser and another were killing many prowlers the other day by zipping past them as they were in the tower sitting on top of their own mines...
