Had my first rage quit today... Yes it's about zerging

Zergs are starting to ruin my gameplay. Everytime I see a nice fight it will soon be zerged and everytime I mostly see members from 3 different outfits. And it doesn't help the situation at all when NC is almost always clearly the most populated faction so there are at least 2 zergs going on at the same time. Having hard time being TR right now.

When are devs going to do something about PS2 zerging? When will zerging not be the best "strategy" there is? Why is it not limited in any way? Why is it not even made harder to do?

I don't really feel like logging back in, will be taking a long break. I just feel so powerless in almost every major battle.

    Just my 2 vents.

I haven't rage quit from zergs, I just find somewhere else to go.

:O you got the Trac-Shot? Question, I got the Eclipse VE3A and the laser sight vanishes and the hipfire accuracy seems to go with it, does this happen with the Trac-Shot? :s

I used to do that but then got tired to always change location to face another zerg soon.

P2 is all about the zerg now, thanks to all the changes.

With the ability to lock out two continents, it restricts/forces everyone to the remaining two.

With the lattice system, players are funneled to the fronts.

With the new resource system, players can pull seemingly unlimited numbers of vehicles, over and over. So we get constant vehicle spawn camps now. And the new sunderer shields and warning system coupled with this new resource system, ensures lasting spawn camps and drawn out battles.

I like big battles, when that's what I'm in the mood for. Used to, you could find them whenever you wanted at larger sites like amp stations, tech plants, and biolabs, and of course, the battle fronts. But my favorite fights were the more intimate ones when you have 1v1, 3v3, 6v6, 12v12, ish. Now they're hard to find. With all the funneling, it's all about the zerg since most of the choices and other options were taken away by the new systems.

Add to all this, the server merges (speaking of emerald from experience), well...you get the idea.

I hardly play any more. Got sick of my P2 gameplay experience being the constant zerging and spawn camping. It's just no fun for me no matter which side of it I'm on.

Dont know about you, but holding off a zerg is the best feeling!
The other day I was rolling with a TR platoon (a very efficient, organised platoon). We were fighting at Eisa on Esamir during an alert. The lattice system meant that in order to continue capping territories, the NC had to go through us :)
It was a 96+ on both sides, but TR had a little under 40% territory population. Aaannnnd we managed to hold them off for over an hour before the alert ended.
    The farm was glorious.
    Many NC tears were shed.

If you are going to use the word ZERG,you need to define it within the scope of what you are complaining about. Do you mean 96+ platoons dropping in? Do you mean 60tanks sitting on a hill not doing anything productive? Do you mean huge Sundy caravans that roll around repairing each other endlessly? Do you mean hoards of infantry that run in one direction like sheep to a slaughter? Do you mean the 300mossie/scythe crashes the the likes of GOKU and AOD drop with regularity? Is it simply the other team having more population than your team?

Just using the word ZERG does not describe to me exactly what you are complaining about, nor does it help anyone come up with suggestions on what can be fixed/changed/or how you can learn to play the game better.

I know it's a huge buzz word for what's wrong with the game, but what exactly are you complaining about?

No, seriously. Give me a reason that I shouldn't play Battlefield instead of Planetside, other than the existence of massive zerg-on-zerg battles.

I may as well fire up Counter Strike if 12v12 is what I wanted.

Nothing wrong with being a spawn room warrior when faced with 10 to 1 odds.

Taking pot shots at dozens of sub BR 20 zerglings sitting outside spawn is excellent at relieving stress.

Don't play alerts. This immediately solves the vast majority of problems. I used to like alerts and I want to continue to like them, but they're just too large for PS2's bases.

Most people like zerg-on-zerg fights. It's zergs showing up out of nowhere to ruin a small fight that people hate.
  13. HadesR

Problem isn't so much the zergs .. It's the ability of the zerg to just spam vehicles and skill suits non-stop .. The default get out of jail card now is just forget about tactics or skill and to just derp spam MAX's at a point ..

It's shallow and getting old quickly ..

If Daybreak want a long term game with long terms players .. first on the agenda should be a revised and improved resource system

Been playing several alerts lately as a part of public platoon, had lots of fun. Felt exactly like Server Smash.

It all depends on the company and leaders. A good leader won't lead you to a bad fight. Trying to stop a zerg while solo is impossible. When you're one of 48 other players, perspective changes a bit ;)

The ultimate solution to blowing off steam!
Load a VS every day for Certs!
    All hail its glory!

What I don't get is, why are people b17ching about zerg? If enemy zerg then you just have more people to kill. Why care about defending a facility? You don't get xp from defending it. NC noobs that are >BR10 are just free kills for you.
  17. FBVanu

Zergs can be fun... on the receiving end. LOTS of targets coming at you... it's like a rolling cert pinata...

Is a MAX crash considered a zerg? How about an air armada swooping in.. Galxies and Liberators as far as the render can see ?

Those just mean lots of targets for me, love shooting at them.. until our lines break and we obviously can't hold 'em back anymore. Then redeploy farther back and prepare for them, 'cause you know they'll keep rolling and lattice tells you where they will show up next.

I have seen plenty of zergs imploding.. and, I must say, IMHO, they are a very interesting feature in the game.

BTW, throwing large numbers of armor at an enemy, in and by itself, is a tactic, within the larger strategy of overwhelming the enemy.
The trick is not to get roadkilled or TKed while in an armor zerg.

Planetside 2 is nothing but mindless zergs, and yeah, it is boring as ****. Rather then a skilled push towards an organized objective or something, its just....sundy deploy, max rush!!!

And dear god are they boring.....hit detect and lag really goes to ****.....I was at the bottom bio lab on Esamir and was putting 30 rounds into 1 guy and with 2 others shooting them they still got away.....wow....game is horrid in zergs.
  19. vanu123

Most of this game hates zerging but can't settle on a specific term since it varies.
  20. IronMouse

I despise zergs with burning passion. Lack-of-skill-RNG-mesh-FPS-killing-fests. It's all just random in zergs since it's impossible to keep track of all the possible angles bullets/rockets/missiles can come from, for all sides that participate. Seriously I don't see how ANYONE can actually like these!

I enjoy most when I know that my STRATEGY and ACTIONS made a difference, not when I stand on top of the ammo box shooting rockets off to the render distance. Crap.
