I switched servers to play with my outift, but as i was unsure if we could actully do it, so i'd bought a gun on my first character. 700 station cash down the drain... lucky it wasnt worse, though.
  2. mandrac

+1 we need a way to move characters between servers
  3. StuntPoteten

Then they won't get any of my money, works for me, plenty of other games to spend money on. If to many think like me, PS2 will fail. It probably won't though, and you're probably right.

Finally got a tweet back. They said they would pass the word on for at least server transfers. Keep your voice heard and tweet @planetside2.

Probably not going to make purchases account wide, they have little incentive to do so and much more incentive to keep it the way it is. Server transfers are
more likely going to happen, it would be interesting if they do something similar to what's in WoW free or discounted transfers from high pop servers to low pop or new servers to incentivize filling of those servers.
  6. Cute-CandyPants

    i totaly agree.

if you buy equipment with station cash,he equipment you unlock should be perminant and unlocked throughout the account,

I don't really see how payed transfer of characters would work in regards to the e-sport concepts that has been discussed so far.

If EU, US, AU outfits are going up against each other does that mean that all members of the non <insert region> outfits have to pay double transfer fees to get on the contest server and back to their home server again after the tournament is over?
  8. Aspen28570

They will probably have the tournament in its own server and would have to transfer them anyway, provided it's actually supported by SOE.

Not that it bothers me, but the more I play on Connery the worse it seems to be- it's super laggy and VS (my faction) are straight up terrible. I've been playing a bit more on Matherson which is almost always full at primetime but I get past the queue due to my subscription and I don't experience the crazy lag that Connery has and VS are far better. I've spent a fair amount of SC and certs on my Connery toon and I know I'll lose them if I transfer that same character, but oh well I will pick up the same stuff on my Matherson toon.

One of the small problems are .. now people might have bought weapon/gear on multiplied servers.
If they're going to add this (I rly hope so because it annoys me too) they have to shut-down the game while going through all the accounts/servers, searching for multiplied weapons and give the account the SC the user spend on those. Or simple reset all orders and give the SC back

Personally I hate them for giving access to the store so early in the game.

    1+ for the idea

Well, you're welcome to report me to the mods but you can't kick me out of your thread. It's not your place. I will apologize for the tangents; you're right. I'll stay on subject. There is a good, financial reason for SOE to not allow weapons to be allowed across characters; it may encourage more people to buy more weapons. There is a better, customer relations reason TO allow it; allowing it doesn't anger your client base. Customers who are angry are less likely to spend money; those who are happy are more likely.

Sorry for being so pedantic earlier. Sometimes I lose track of my head; usually end up finding it in my own hiney.

Not only guns, but pretty much everything in the shop should be. The way I see it, I would be more than happy to drop down a 20 every few weeks to eventually unlock everything for all my characters account wide, but as it stands I won't even spend 5 bucks to unlock a camo for a toon im not sure I will wanna play next week. But I guess none of my money now is better than a lot of it later, I guess.

Considering the rather exorbitant RMT value of these damned weapons ($7-10 real money???) I was flatly floored to find out they were not acct bound, but instead bound to a single character...

That's nuts. Either lower the real-money value of these things or make them available to any character (of the correct faction) on my acct.

The price just for my Shottie would have covered an entire bundle in Tribes, the cost of one "shiny" in this game would get me 5+ tanks in WoT camo'd. And yet? One character.

I'd rather pay a monthly sub, I'd get more out of it for less money! You really expect a lot of people to pay these insane prices for unlocks for one toon AND pay for premium. Not sure if these guys are just insanely greedy, or off their rockers.

    Lame.
  15. MexelVanMexelen

They (SOE) are, imo, waiting to see how many of us are silly enough to pay for the same weapon on different characters. If enough of us are sensible and don't do this they will realise that they will gain more by making SC purchases available on all compatible toons (no Lashers on NC toons, but available on all VS toons). I know I would spend more, because I would buy more guns for all my toons than if I have the feeling that I'm being nickel and dimed by toon-locked weapons.

So to get what we want we need to STOP buying the same weapons on different toons.

    +1 for account-wide stuff.

This game is massive, there's no doubt about that. One of the things that makes playing this game difficult is its size. Not the size in game mechanics, but the size of the community itself.

Playing with a friend is something that makes a game feel just great, but with players coming from all corners of the internet, it's hard to figure out who plays where. You may be able to convince a friend to join your server to play with you, or you may migrate over to theirs to play with them, but what about your friend's relationship with their other friends? People like to play with people that they know, and with half a dozen servers per region, it's not possible to coordinate being able to play with everyone.

Certs being a barrier is understandable in an MMO atmosphere. Progression is something that needs to be done in that instance of the world. You need to be able to fight for your faction's existence and claim the rewards. Being able to hop from one server to another with zero consequence will just make a fourth empire situation that gets out of control.

What about Station Cash rewards, though? Those aren't earned through progression at all. When a player buys a weapon, they get it instantly. The status of a faction on a server is irrelevant to these unlocks. It's still done on a per character basis, though.
Is it good for cash flow? Probably the case.
Could it be a barrier for someone that is on the fence with making a purchase? Probably at least a few people.

How many people would more likely consider buying something if a purchase unlocked something per account rather than a character by character setup like there is now? It's a proposition better for the player than for SOE, but are there people that would not make purchases without more sense of permanency for the things they buy?

As someone that draws friends from many circles, I know that being able to fly a Liberator with a capable bombing weapon on an account wide basis (or even just faction wide, to not give common pool the edge over faction specific) would make me more likely to spend some cash for the convenience. On a character to character basis, I'd be less likely to make a purchase out of a lack of dedication to an "alt" character made just to play with a friend.
