light assaults, infiltrators and medics using my gunner position all need to kill themselves, because the survivability of my MBT is always halfed by these useless classes taking up the seat when clutch repairs are needed. there needs to be an option in the page down menu, *Unlocked *Squad/platoon only *Engineer only *Locked engineers are actually useful in your vehicle, everyone else is just using you to get from A to B and are otherwise totally worthless.
There were great ideas back in the day But because the battlefield audience came they started screaming;" Plz not this to bases" "Aircrafts become useless because of this" "I DON'T WANT COMBINED OPERATIONS WAAAH" I am talking about the air shield for bases that would require enemy players to use other tactics but as i said the simplistic battlefield players brains that consist of 150 neurons couldn't think about such an idea, they only can think about "My shiny gun" or"Buff x because cats are poop"
Also specific seats needs to be lockable. The reason most liberators run 2/3 is because 2 friends don't stranger to take the belly gun. Similar with harasser, the engineer gunner wants to be able to repair. Maybe squad leaders or the driver could force seat switching of non-squad leaders.
I would rather have a gunner period then no one at all. I think you're being a bit too selective and too demanding of the pub community.
I usually do fine with a gunner of whatever type. I usually solo and repair accordingly, so a gunner is just bonus DPS to me. Maybe an IQ filter so they don't shoot the Halberd at random aircraft and negate your 2000 cert max stealth.
The non-engineer gunners that jump in are still a gunner.. some even know HOW to shoot.. They usually give me more repair bonus points.. Even had a few that jumped out at the nearest Sundy, to change their class, coming back as engineer. In the lowest common denominator: any gunner is a good gunner, better than no gunner at all.
why not simply communicate with random gunners ? /tell them 'dont shoot until i do - i run stealth' - how else could he know ? from time to time i jump in a gunner seat while not running as engi because more firepower is needed immediately - if the most dangerous thread was defeated, i ask per /tell (and/or proxy voice chat) to let me change class to engi
Would be a waste of coding time. Just squad lock your vehicle and/or use the multitude of chat channels available to you to let prospective gunners know you'd prefer to be a jerk engineers.
These two things. If I see your 1/2 tank taking fire, I'm getting in the gunner seat irregardless of my damn class -- and no, I'm not hurting your survivability over the gun just sitting silent while you die. But, if you stop by a terminal for a half second, I'll gladly switch to engineer. If you just keep driving, then my getting out and watching you drive off just leaves your turret empty again.
Let's not get carried away here. It reminds me of what I heard in my summer class yesterday on healthy eating. One of the other students issued a handout that said, "Any breakfast is better than no breakfast". And we all just went silent and stared at each other, because we could think of plenty of breakfasts that would cause more harm than good (a breakfast of rat poison for example). There can be gunners that do more harm than good. Say for instance I am sneaking up to flank an enemy MBT (and for once I'm not in my Lightning). My gunner decides that this would be a great time to engage a distant Liberator with the Halberd, obviously missing all his shots but succeeding greatly in attracting that Liberator's attention. In addition to that the enemy MBT is now aware of my position and turns to advance on me. Even as I'm attacked by both an enemy MBT face-on and a TB Liberator, my gunner has suddenly developed a sense of amnesia and has completely forgotten what the left mouse button does. In that sense, I would very much rather have no gunner, and it's fairly clear that such a gunner is hardly a "good" gunner by almost any reasonable metric. And yes, I have been privy to incapable gunners about as horrendous as described above.
LOL, yes Chingles, those are the worst.. I wager we all had some of them .. sneaking up on an enemy MBT , after taking a long, long careful route around to flank.. and then the gunner starts blasting from way too far away.. giving away our position..... no common sense.. that's when I usually kick them from my tank, retreat, and leave the idiot all alone, surrounded by the enemy.. (just kidding) In that sense, you are correct, no gunner would have been better.. however, without that gunner I would not have attempted that approach in the first place.. as I need a gunner to finish the job.. side note : there should be a way to chat JUST WITH THE GUNNER.. or driver.. often I have to look and find them in a long list of names.. takes too long.. before I get a gunner, I try to invite them to the squad.. others often hit "V" thank you.. and thus I have their tag in my chat list.. after such an abysmal trigger happy CoD performance, I like to chat with the gunner and explain to them the Zen approach to flanking.. but then again, a lot don't speak English.. it's a crap-shoot.. Can we agree on this statement: More often than not, having a gunner, even a bad one, is more advantageous, than not having a gunner at all.
A 'vehicle chat' channel would be a useful thing to have, both voice and text so its easily recognizable.
Well, they removed cert screen to make way for the implant screen. Because they couldnt code another menu into the game (thats the excuse i heard them use anyway) So to be honest with you, i dont think they have the capacity/knowledge/money (or whatever is stopping them) to make something like a "gunner class" option. Dont get me wrong, i would like to see something like this in the game. Maybe even a priority system that you can customize. For example you place "engineer" at the top, so if any of the other classes are gunning for you and the engineer wants to get in, the other class gets booted out. Or a "remember last gunner" option. So when you and some random gunner you had for a bit jumps out to repair, another random guy cant steal his spot.
Wish they would add it, since my buddy/gunner stopped playing some time ago. I swear every time some one who's not a engie gets in my Magrider I suppose they're useless. So I ask if they're staying or not so they can change to an engie. If they don't I boot them simple as that. If you get in as a engie I have a bit more trust because you know that repairs need to be done. I'm not your taxi to another base, i'm a tank looking to blow everything up. Don't want to be on the short end of the stick with repairs either.
Well, for a long period of time I saw unbeliveable dumb random gunners so last month or two I oftenly just lock my vehicle when playing solo. Becuase f**k these s**tters who can only spoil your location with randoms shots to the sky and ignore real threat when it appears. Specific class doesn't really matter here. But I also have to say that 10% of random guys are pretty descent gunners. The problem is that you never know what to expect from unfamiliar player. P.S. Can you imagine a situation when you engaging an enemy sundy or tank right in front of you with 2/2 Enforcer Vanguard and even tens of spotting, shooting it and getting hits as well it can't stop your gunner farming (and missing all shots lel) random infantry 100 m away? U know I'd better switch to top gun myself while main reloads. F*** this s***.
