Has anyone else noticed too that it is now (after GU2) taking way more time to load menus like for example the map? Has anyone else suddenly more crazy game crashes ( like EVERYTHING except yourself lagging or flying around as infantry) and feels the gameplay in general more instable for you now? Especially around bases like zurvan, biolabs or in general when the bigger fights are starting to happen?? Dont understand me wrong everywhere else its kinda fine almost like it used 2 be except for the longer loading times of menus like the map which are slower everywhere now what is an indicator for me that there definitely is a problem caused by the patch. Im pretty sure sometime during beta phase there was another patch which had pretty much the same impact for most people like slowly loading menus, game crashes, bad fps etc etc etc... How are the odds? Is my rig just too old ( see sig) or is GU2 to blame? Note that im playing since beta with pretty much the same useroptions.ini config and hardware without any real problems at all (check also sig for FPS rates). Where was Soe going with GU2 anyway? Wasnt it meant to increase performance? If my pc is simply too old for where soe is going with the game i could live with it but I kinda cannot ignore the feeling that the patch somehow broke the game in certain areas... I know the gaming industry is not a democracy but if I could I would definitely vote for the pre- gu2 era!
ANTiKES I have noticed the slow map and menus on my laptop but not on my desktop. I figured it was due to my connection being wireless for the laptop and cable for the desktop???
Nope, try find your "My Picture", if they has many .tmp file, just delete it. But yes, this game load the file on-demand, so when you open it first time, it need to load from the Hard Disk.
No tmp files but the laptop has a 5400RPM HDD v a SSD drive (laptop v desktop) so maybe that might be the pause I am seeing? The OP has a 5900RPM HDD.
I can say the other people has the same issues with you, but they don't solve it yet, they also don't found the tmp file like you. Create a ticket and see what they can do for you.
Try this, run your Planetside 2 Launchpad and log in, but do not press play. Click on the Advanced Tools icon (looks like a hexagon surrounding a wrench) in the lower left and then choose the option to open game directory. In the window/folder that comes up, locate and delete the following files PlanetSide2.exe ActivityUserData.ini LaunchPad-user.ini LoadingScreen.xml InputProfiles.xml SoundSettings.xml UserOptions.ini vivoxoal.dll vivoxsdk.dll Once these files are deleted, close the Planetside 2 window/folder and go back to the Launchpad > Advanced Tools/Settings menu. Click on the Validate Game Assets menu option and then press the green Validate button to have the Launchpad check your game files, and download any missing or corrupt files. If your problems persist, definitely do what Ben said, submit a ticket so we can investigate and give you some solid suggestions to resolve your UI issues.
UI loads slower after GU2 for me and most others (Especially when first loading onto the map) Will try deleting those files and then checking.
