Can you call something a bug fix when the fix adds two new bugs?

Any ETA on the mission system?

LOL. Capture Indar. You guys are adorable.

Im more of a one character sort of guy. Can subscribers get more than load out slots for classes and maybe a more intuitive way to put on camos for everyone?

Any opportunity to fix bugs and balance while introducing a way to increase experience gain is a win in my book. If you are complaining, for the umpteenth time, content creation team is separate from the teams working on whatever area bothers you, more content won't hurt.

I am anxious to see the MAX updates, it definitely needs more love than LA at the moment. I'm also glad to hear that this is different from the mission system, continent locking should definitely give a nice experience bonus regardless of whether you have a boost. It will also motivate empires to get the hell off of Indar and have some massive battles elsewhere with the lock bonus, not to mention 20% experience boost while everyone zergs/farms it out. Also very appreciative that they are finding ways to reward support activity but capping it so people don't go crazy.

I do want to mention that my main concern at this point is stability. I'm not sure if it's just my machine or connection but the lag I hear everyone talk about on Indar on Double XP weekends is usually not that bad for me. It is bad for a lot of people in my outfit though, it has taken us out of several large fights and is a huge bummer.

What part of what he said is more like BF3 and less like PS1? The ribbons and achievements? You know that PS1 had that, right? Or do you just like to whine about ANYTHING which is being added to the game?

This seems like some really positive changes to keep the F2P guys playing. The game really needs those if it is to survive. I like all of the additions. More short term rewards, more diversity, more "medium range" goals. The things that keep us playing for more than 20 minutes at a time.

I hope we get some info soonish on the new map changes.
  9. Wasdie

I have a funny feeling that's delayed until the new map changes. I don't even know if the mission system will be needed when the new map layout is put in.

This looks outstanding! Great work Higgsbroson and team!

Ribbons in PS1 came ages after launch. PS1 shipped with a metagame. Complaining about additions to the game that don't prevent the game from bleeding players at an incredible rate is a good thing.

If it's not making the game better so it's player base sticks around then it's not worth spending time on. And ribbons are just a bandaid on everything wrong with this game, just like half of the other problems which were spotted in Closed Beta and have yet to be addressed yet.

jackhammer rof is fine its just like a watered down piston without any of the versatility.. definatly needs ammo tho ammo amo ammo.... has exact same ammount as any other shotgun...
  13. Tanelorn

    All sounds awesome to me.

My biggest concern is that currently, you can show up at the last second and get all the XP for a base capture. This is true for the alert system, it is very unfair to those who work hard to accomplish the alert goals.

Can we please have loadouts mapped to number keys (1-3 normal or 1-6 for members now) in the deploy screen?

Ribbons represent objectives and rewards to some players, hence it will help retain those players.

You don't think the Alert system adds to the game, nor makes the game better?

Are you ignoring Higby's statements about the Hex changes or did you just miss them?

You still didn't answer my question. In what way do these things make PS2 more like BF3 and less like PS1?

Seriously, it's new stuff. Some of it has been proven to retain players by providing goals to work for, the other is showing willingness to try new things.

Why? There are no new incentives in that for you to go to a faction that is badly outnumbered. *Everyone* gets +20% XP in the targeted area. That won't magically make people want to join the outnumbered faction (in fact, it will have the opposite effect because everyone will want to join the majority side).

If they're serious about faction balance on the server, then they need to re-add the server level faction bonus for being underpopulated and make it a serious bonus. The old bonus was not enough to change people's behavior at the character select screen (nor is the current continent level bonus enough to change people's behavior).

As an example, I think a lot of people would fight on a underdog faction if they were shown a bonus on the character select screen that was "(leading faction population percent - your percent) x 1%". In the case of a server where NC/TR have 40% pop and VS only have 20% pop, you'd be tempted with a +20% bonus to everything you do if you play VS that night. Stack that with a similar bonus on a continent level (another 20-40% bonus) and I think you'll get people to go where they are needed, rather then bailing on being outnumbered. The continent bonuses might even need to be double that of the server level bonus.

This is a PREVIEW. All most people are interested in is the new features so that's all they mention in previews.
  18. Ranik

Lets see. Previous patches nerfed MBT's in the wrong way and at the same time introduced new ESRL's further making the game Heavyside 2

And the shift towards session based gameplay rather than MMO gameplay. Rather than make it more of an MMO with a point, they are just creating busy work for the CoD / BF3 crowd to mindlessly occupy themselves with.

Hint: Having randomly generated "everybody go and fight there for bonus XP" or "kill ten people with this gun" is not going to save this game. It'll only try to keep people in game long enough to buy the newest unbalanced toy with SC.

And frankly, if we can capture continents in 2 hours, the victory would be pretty meaningless. Or the opposition was completely asleep. It's one of the things that players don't like currently, is how fast bases flip back and forth. A more realistic goal is 4-6 hours for a continent lock. Especially as they make improvements to the battle flow and defensibility of bases, which is going to slow down the progress.

The issue with longer timers is that the developers need to address is "I showed up for the first 2/3 of the battle, then had to leave before the deadline, so I get nothing?" problem. They need to figure out some way to calculate whether someone has meaningfully participated during the time period, even if they had to leave (or crashed) before the objective was achieved.

    Maybe that's:
    - You were in the grid location for at least 30 minutes during the time period (for a 2h timer event like "take base XYZ")
    - You earned at least 1000 XP within the location during that time period (for a base attack)
    - You participated in at least three base captures (for continent level conflict)
