I think what soe really missed when they were looking at increasing cost to reduce spam like people asked for, is tbat what we were asking for, was a vast increase to vehicle and max costs, while also making them MUCH tougher. Spammed less, but feared more. Make makes haveuch more small arms fire resistance, say around 95% stock, like how the origional max was nearly impervious to small arms fire, while increasing its cost by say... 3.5 times. Or even more. Same goes for vehicles. Make them tougher and less spammed. Or spammed and paper thin. Just increasing costs will make most players not even care to pull tanks, and punish dedicated max/tank users

Alternatively, give a LARGE buff to auto repair or armor certs to make them help increase survivability more at the cost of certs.

And give us back all the certs we spent on them.

    Sony ≠ SOE

    Simple answer : CA$H ;)

Oh look , more nerfs to NC Max

Hmm, the resource tuning I don't understand. I mean the vehicle spam problem does exist on Esa and Amerish, but since the Lattice was released on Indar, no such problem exists there.

So why make a change more favorable for the HEX system, while the actual plan includes adding the lattice on the remaining two continents?

so far on the pts the vulcan changes are comical at best and the MCG delay is still there. the new sound is ok but it doesn't match the ROF especially when the gun first starts shooting. the vulcan is still terrible at range and still very inaccurate. it feels like it does less damage than it does now.

Not sure if I like the change to Flash's resource cost. 150 for something that explodes in a single hit and doesn't offer any sort of protection to the driver him/herself, which you could have put into a armored vehicle that has actual kill potential... yeah, seems like we'll see a massive decrease in people driving around with Flashes.

Cost increase also makes the acquisition-timer certs pointless if your cooldown is down to, say, 5 minutes, but it takes 10 minutes to get enough funds together to even buy the stupid things.

Some of the changes seem nice, others seem focused too much on stopping people from playing the game as they want.

you're playing on the test server or you missed the "planned" bit of the OP? :p These changes aren't in yet.

After reading the creative director's responses to the Reddit thread, I've changed my outlook on the resource changes a bit.

Apparently, these changes are trivial to implement; they are simply instance variables in the code is the vibe I'm getting. Therefore, they are easy to tweak or revert should our prophecies of doom come true. Personally, I think they will, and I can't see this ending well, but if it is a matter of playing with them for a few days and waiting on a hotfix, I think it is in the best interest of the game to assume that we can be wrong.

Infantry play has grown a bit dull for me, so I'm primarily in vehicles now, but infantry is still the backbone of the game. They cap bases, and most players just play infantry. Since "most players" are the ones who keep the servers semi-active, it is a... necessary... evil that they be enticed to not ragequit forever....

This patch is going to be great for air. The biggest threat to air (burster MAXs) are not only being nerfed but also cost 3.5x as many resources (compared to 1.25x the resources for ESFs). I'm fine with the increases to tank resource cost, but if they are going to increase tank costs that drastically then they should do the same for air.

A harasser will now cost more than a liberator. A dune buggy costing more than a wtfpwn gunship seems pretty ridiculous. Air resources will still be meaningless which is supposedly the whole point of these increases.

    SOE is owned by Sony.

If Sony tells SOE to do something, it does it.
Take a guess as to why the development cycle is getting slower for this game, PS4 version.

People and resources are being allocated to put this game on console when it's not even properly ready on PC yet

Planetside 2 will not survive if it tosses a third of it's chips into the PS4 market, and then constantly does this nerf chain, the Console players will freak the f' out over it. that's if they even play it at all, all the PS4 boards I've gone on. they've insulted the game and said they werent' interested in it.

Unchecked ESF's and Lib's are just as much of a game changer if not more so, we need only go back a few months to see prove that.

I'm fine with them being limited, as long as we don't end up in a situation where aircraft availability exceeds the availability of AA. And that is what this change will do.

Also they are adding damage falloff, and increasing the CoF of the burster max. I think there was something else aswell, but I forgot. (and about lockdown and ZOE, I'm fine with them not even affecting bursters for that matter).

The thing about which bases you fight at, becomes unimportant, as soon as lattice is fully implemented. Infact they properly need to look at that system in general, to not make certain "lattice paths" too restrictive for the attacker.

Lastly, there two ways to see the thing about Air vs AA, on a continent as a whole, it isn't a matter of what should be more having the largest amount, aircraft always will be, since as long as they don't join the big fight, they can outmanouver most AA, that isn't fun, but it is how it is.

On a hex, or if we say per fight, then it really comes down to how effective you want AA to be. either AA needs to be just as available as aircraft, or AA simply needs to be more powerful then aircraft.

properly ballanced AA in my oppinion, has relatively short range, but as long range as they need to defend themselves and those around them.. (so none of that AA'ing aircraft next hex over bs we see atm.)

And before anyone says it, or ever noticed. Yes I changed my oppinion regarding the need to nerf AA. Mostly because the change to armor values for a tank, means that you don't need as massive an AA cover to protect vehicles/ground target, in your immediet vicinity.

And the blue display - that should be red - bug for the Mini-chaingun is still there! I can't play this way. /kidding. But yes I want this fixed.

Do most pilots fly with mouse and keyboard, or do aircraft fly better with a joystick? Looks like I need to spend some time in VR to finally master flying if I'm going to continue playing this game.

Tanks are becoming too expensive to use exclusively and at least for now aircraft are still cheap and will give me something to do while I wait for my mech resources to regenerate. My death stat will go through the roof and I'll be padding the kill count of every tree in the game, but meh ...
  17. Dharnia

I just wish there was a way for Sony to make vehicle cost dynamic. That way the more territory you do own the more expensive the vehicles cost there by causing the faction with less territory to fight back with less expensive vehicles.
  18. MasterTater

So after already patch nerfing the ZOE with additional general destruction of rediculously low dmg bonuses and timer impairments on the ZOE you additionally want to nerf Bursters on top and Make a ZOE activated MAX a oneshot for every rocketlauncher or explosive ingame for 350 infantry points -

    While

NC get invincibility Shield while being able to move in unharmed with still completely broken OP RAVENS and SCATTERCANNONS which oneshot every solider and 4 shot every tank?

Fine balancing - mental sanity and grey matter between the ears does not seem to be SOE Dev teams strength.

Add a timer to ZOE on top - 4-5 seconds with 30 seconds CD.

    Why not

OR better - just remove ZOE .
  19. gWeePer

As my #1 complaint, I'm glad to see this being addressed. Ultimately I think we need custom keybinds for weapons and gear.
  20. Morchai

I always thought vehicles should be cheapest at the warpgate and more expensive as you spawn further and further away from it to simulate strained supply lines. This would make defending the warpgate easier while giving players in the dominating empire the stark choice ... do I buy an expensive tank close to the action or go all the way back to the warpgate for a cheaper tank and have to drive across the map to get back to the fight (which would slow reinforcements)?

Of course, air wouldn't be impacted by such a scheme because flying across the map doesn't eat up a lot of time.

By the way, what is Reddit and why are devs discussing these changes with the posters there but not on the actual Planetside 2 forums?
