GU011: Weapon and Vehicle Changes

    SOE, if you want transfer the game in a pure infantry game - there is a easier way I can show you: remove vehicles and Max untis fom the game.

    So when do I get to recert my magrider and harasser since I can no longer be a dedicated armor driver? This is freaking silly. My favorite thing in the game, basically no longer possible.

    Also, to all the people crying about "the ZOE not getting nerfed", get over it. It's a different play style. Now I'm going back to charge because ZOE already gets me killed a lot. Congrats, you have the abilities that will be used, and we get some crap again. I can already take 74% damage from a decimator that can be spammed with flak 4. How much worse could it get.

    Maybe we should turn the Saron into a glorified lashed? It'll be like the PPA only weaker!

    Maybe we should turn the lasher into a glorified beamer!

    Lets nerf their grenades too because their grenades shouldn't be as good!

    EASY MODE PLAYERS SHOULD LOSE ALL THE TIME!

    Really guys. Just shut up. Striker spam is ruining this game already, and we may as well just give up on armor. Prowlers only folks. Sorry, but that's the way planetside is played.

    This is really stupid. Lets just give ESFs back their uber-farm powers, re-nerf the magrider, renerf all the VS rifles, un-nerf the scat maxes, make the jackhammer shoot rockets, and make VS maxes have a life timer. After 20 seconds they just die and can't be rezzed. Bunch of petulant children. *ragequit*

    INRV scope changes are going to be a direct buff to the Vanu; the only reason I use it is to better see their spandex in the dark.

    The shotgun changes worry me most as NC; the nerfs seen like they're going to be a direct, and significant, nerf to the NC AI Max.

    The Buster Max changes seen Ok but there are places where the Skyguard cannot get to protect infantry from air farmers, such as the air pads in Biolabs and at quite a few small facilities around the spawn rooms. Once these spawn rooms are camped by air, Busters are the only protection for infantry. so long as the new maximum, effective, range of the Buster is equal to the maximum, effective, range of rocket pods it should be OK. If this isn't the case we'll be saying "welcome back" to air farming infantry.

    Resource Changes:

    Flash - 150 Resources.
    So because some people are getting a ton of kills on flashes with a Fury everyone who just wanted to go from point A to point B quickly has to suffer.

    Sunderer - 400 Resources.
    Seriously? Let me give you a little history. The Sunderer used to be the biggest score generating machine in the game. Everyone places Sunderers everywhere, because they were an XP factory. Then exclusion radius came in and what happened? Total bedlam, every crapsack with a sense of entitlement started to teamkill Sunderers to put their own Sunderer down instead and get that XP. The only way to make them stop? Make Sunderer spawns give such insignificant amounts of XP that it simply didn't matter anymore.
    Now we get a resource revamp based on vehicle score and lo and behold, the single most powerful, game defining, most armored and universally important pwnmobile in the game is now cheaper than a tank. Yea no, that makes sense. Sunderers are essentially the only vehicle in the game that nobody can do without, and are the absolute most important part to any successful assault, and now they are no longer at the top end of costly acquisitions, but pretty middle of the range.
    Sunderers should have their usefulness reflected in their cost, not the fact that the score they generated had to be cut down to prevent team killing.

    MAX Unit - 350 Resources.
    The problem with the MAX isn't the resource cost, it's the fact that anyone with a medic gun can completely circumvent all consequences that resource based units should suffer from death. This might curb the number of solo-MAXes that get pulled, but it doesn't do anything to reign in the giant MAX squad of near guaranteed victory that can't ever be defeated by attrition, but only by completely overrunning it and all of its support staff which is only possible if you significantly outnumber it.


    IRNV Scope:

    I think something has to be done about vehicle optics as well. I think it's unreasonable that max level zoom in a vehicle costs I think 701 certs, while night vision costs a measely 50. Night vision is a lot more powerful for the vast majority of vehicle weapons. Most vehicle weapons are based on leading the target and compensating for drop, which are easier to do without zoom, since the smaller your zoom the slower the transversal speeds of your target, the more of the area its moving into you can see, and the smaller the amount of lead or superelevation you have to give on your screen to score a hit. So what's with the huge cert cost for a powerful zoom that really doesn't do much for you at all? What if the zoom added some other features, like a lead indicator, range finder, ability to tell the targets hitpoints etc? That might make it actually worth the while to put the really expensive tricked out zoom on a vehicle instead of just going with nightvision.


    Sunderer Exclusion Zones.

    Well, I'm glad you found your brass set SOE. Happy that you're sticking with your guns on this one. Over-convenience is one of the least popular things to cut back on in a game, but tends to make a substantial positive impact in the long run.

    Here is an Interesting Thought

    Lets Assume If you are TR in the SW Warpgate if you Lose Allatum and You pull a max unit then die, respawn as a HA Buy a Frag Grenade then die, you then pull another max suit, after that max suit you must wait 2.5 Hours ( assuming you don't regain allatum) to Be able to pull another max unit. Remember don't buy any more grenades or claymores at all. Because without Allatum you Can assume you will lose the Adjacent outposts and you most likely wont have a link to Ti-Alloys or West Highlands Checkpoint. Giving you a total of 16 Resources Per Tick.

    great patch, but with those resource changes i feel like the acquisition timer was a waste of certs now. it should also drop the resource cost by a set %.

    The vehicle resource costs may be a tad bit too high, as even though many players can already keep their vehicles long enough to have accumulated a comfortable amount of resources for the next vehicle, the high cost may become a very strong deterrent for many—especially with the amount of AV weapons players now have at hand (a "logarithmic" effect or so, can't visualize it properly at the moment).

    (PS: when will pounders be fixed? (convergence doesn't work with arcing trajectories, etc.)

    Once again, SOE forgoes any semblance of improving actual gameplay and the metagame and instead adds artificial delays like much higher resource costs and no deploy zones for Sunderer. Who needs actual metagame improvement? Just make everything take a lot longer! Instant metagame the Sony way once again.

    Please do not up any of the resource costs without redoing the resource system. This will absolutely murder the combined arms side of the game, especially for the losing faction.

    the flash resource cost is a bit harsh 75 maybe even 100 but to 150 i believe is a bit much i can understand the wraith flash fury combo is deadly, easy fix don't let the wraith flash use it's weapon for a few seconds after cloaking/decloaking i believe that would be effective or don't let the flash equip a weapon with the wraith module on it.

    also if your nerfing the nc max again can you at least make the shield cover the maxes body from the front completely? and i don't think people want the slot for the head shot open if possible.

    hitting the nv scopes with the lag will piss off alot of people, the scope was for close range anyways and with it being useless against infils (which is why people bought it in the first place) it looses even more of it's use's.
    I can see if you want to force players to not use it exclusively for it's great target highlighting abilities but then change it so it doesn't highlight players/vehicles anything just gives the player night vision so they can see in the dark and discern their target's themselves

    also esf are not expensive enough 250 for an esf ? 450 for a mbt i can see but 400? for a lightning? too much, and comparing the 50 resources less for a lighting for how much less health and power a lighting has it's not properly balanced, also my vote the harasser is worth about 300 right now that's close to what i see it being worth, the lightning more like 350 being a solo platform.

    Also since mbt's being more expensive and far less spam able we can get some co-axial chain guns? i would be happy with a em1 with soft point on my vanguard it's annoying as hell to try and suppress infantry with a splash cannon that is slower than molasses when i should have a chain gun with a **** ton of rounds to at least suppress infantry abet inaccurately.

    otherwise good job on the burster/skyguard balance,under barrel clean up that's cool,sundy no deploy zone's are cool and if the base is owned by tr can a tr sundy deploy in said zone or is it no one can ever deploy in these zones?, also empire specific heavy weapon buff all around hello! , and knowing you guys another optimization or 2 in there for good measure nice.

    If you "don't do infantry" you're playing the wrong game. It was never intended that you could play as armor user continuously and never have to get out. The fact that you've been able to do this so far shows that something is "off" with vehicle costs" in PS2.

    So, u are gonna up the cost of all Vehicles.. then u cant leave the c4 the way it is ATM,it cost way too little to be able to kill all of those... so do something to LA/c4 to the GU11.

    And while ur nerfing the c4 do something to the god damn Striker and the 900m locks(should be more like max 300m lock), working as inteded?
    Like make infantry who has somekind of rocket launcher in hand to render like Vehicles does, annoying us hell cos allways Striker spam on TR zones and 99% of the time u cant see the guy shooting or the rockets hitting u + they even come behind the rock or hill :D

    Hmm, if your tank don't life long enough to gather like 100 resources to take the 2nd you should use another toy.
    The max up is good IMO but I don't think there is any big change in the way max are use. I burn mor infantry points in mines and c4 them in maxes. Sundered change is ok, too. But I Ightning and harasser is a little much. As someone wrote- it all depends on load out. A flash without a gun is terrible expensive and a sky guard need a lot of tweaking to be with the 400 pnts. A harasser with default gun isn't worth the ressources.

    Ok, let's lean back and wait for things to come.

    I dont often comment on the forums but the new costs for vehicles are a total joke !

    You cannot swap conts in a veh, C4 and rocket spam kill vehs way to easily let alone AV turrets !

    You cant have a game with vehicle play then nerf the crap out of it. The whole game is centered around vehicles thats why PS2 has massive maps of open ground not built up areas like cities....

    Is it possible to get a game update that actually adds something to the game that increases the fun?! How does changing a few numbers constitute an update at all? As far as I can see, most people are pissed for one reason or another at those patch notes.

    If they want MLG to get into this like they want and planned on, they shouldn't be putting anything like this patch up.

    If we were to have this, we'd have block wars... Like in Judge Dredd. (Not that I'm opposed to an entire continent of nothing but cities and some open land... But still).
