[Suggestion] GPS System

Too many times do I come out of spawn, want to go somewhere and I have to depend on a waypoint which is about 1000-2000m away. It's not as straight-forward as going straight there, so I have to keep switching in and out of my map to make sure I'm going the right way (50% of the time I have to backtrack because I haven't).

What I'm suggesting is a system which basically lays out the road direction of where you want to get to, based on where a waypoint is placed, be it platoon, personal or squad waypoint. There might be some room for directing reinforcements as well, but the basis is waypoints right now. I think it'd be a great way for new players to get a good feel of which roads end up where.

I know people make their own tracks to bases and that's fine, I think it should be an optional thing where you can turn it off or on depending on your preference. We don't need somebody complaining saying "WRONG TURN PLEASE TURN AROUND" like the modern day systems, as yknow it's pretty far in the future and I think they'd have got their head around that haha.

tl;dr Grand Theft Auto-style system where you follow a line to get to a waypoint.

(Criticize me for not knowing my way around maps if you want, you're just going to look like a bit of a turd).

Cert into GPS: 100 certs, when waypoint added to map on minimap directions via roads to reach as close as possible to destination.

I think that'd be the best implementation for it. Keep it as a passive ability for vehicles but yeah, spot on.

how do you people drive anywhere in real life.

Well first I unlock my door, hop in, close the door, put the keys in and start the engine, then I will switch the gear to reverse and lightly tap the gas pedal to reverse out of my drive way. If there is a new destination I must reach and I don't know the area I type in the location onto google maps.

Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads.

I always carry a handy big plastic A3-sized AtoZ on me, so when I'm driving I can quickly stop in the middle of the road to make sure I'm going the right way.

driving in PS2 is like driving around town, if you cant do that without a GPS I feel very sorry for you.

I wish pressing M whilst driving around in a car brought up a map on my screen, completely blocking my view on where I'm going and what I could be running into.

That'd be fab in real life.

Really though, you should try using a Sat Nav. Once you use one, it's hard to think of using anything else.

What town is the entire surfaced covered in lube while bright multicolored tracer munitions and explosions... you no what... nevermind

I do use GPS, but not to get places I already know how to get to around town. when i want to get a burger i dont whip out the GPS. Is it that hard to understand that there are things called roads? and that the road system runs in a grid. ps2 might not have this, but the roads rarely ever change. if you arent sure how to get there is literally less then like 4 turns to anywhere.

the best town in the world!

    How Do I Map?

Oh I don't use GPS's for places I don't know how to get to, but you've kinda missed my point that not everybody drives around Auraxis and is familiar with all the roads and bases like yourself. New players, for example (as I stated), will know nothing of the road layout and be totally lost by it. Me, I've been playing on and off since PS2 launched and I still get lost on the map because of the way the roads can sometimes go one direction you're heading and you bizarrely end up elsewhere.

But as I said, I have to drag the map up whenever I'm lost leaving me completely vulnerable for a C4 attack when I'm trying to find somewhere. I'm not great at directions okay? It'd be a massive help to me and casual players who don't know the map like the back of their hand.

Usually I just deploy a Reaver so I can get from A to B without following nay roads and ditching the thing when I get there.

It should also have a voice like "Turn right at ally zerg." "Turn left at enemy peasant."
  16. Tycoh

Must be that hard to read a map, huh.

I dont think the factions are advanced enough currently for such a device.

Better idea, let us draw on the map. This way I can pick my own path.
