Lately I've been noticing non-infiltrators sneaking up on me and getting kills from out of nowhere. I've played this game long enough and I'm always aware of my surroundings. I was thinking at first it must be some weird bug introduced from last patch. But I also decided to do a Youtube search... Yup there are some hacks out there where you can zip across distances and aimbot/autoshoot. Now for the most part I think Sony has done a pretty good job stopping hackers. I remember the in game messages from Sony game admins announcing their presence looking for cheaters. I haven't seen them around at all lately. But I have noticed some crazy **** going on - it took me 5 mins to find a bunch of sites offering hacks for Planetside 2. And all of them say Sony can't stop them. Hell is Sony even trying? To some people this isn't a huge issue. It is for me. I just don't get how these hacks get made and videos of use done and obviously are being used and Sony can't/won't do anything to stop them. Summary of post: I am getting killed must be hacks as I am too good to be killed by ordinary means. account canceled.
After playing the game for over a year there is definitely a strange feeling you get when killed in an unusual way. I usually check the persons kill board afterwards and see if its fishy. The other day someone posted a thread about SOE customer service not even knowing what game they are moderating when a PS2 ticket was sent through and he got a response saying thanks for helping keep DCUO cheater free... He posted the link to the hack sites he reported and most charge the same amount for monthly subscription as the game itself... Makes no sense why these morons would pay a third party to cheat at a game when for the same price you can play legitimately and get cool stuff too.
Enemies with high latency will also cause the old "Blam-BLAM!" 0.1 seconds and you're dead thing. On their end, they've been shooting you for a while.
oh so when they say it, it must be true! Also when there are no broadcasts from GMs it means there are none! If you'r awareness is about as good as your common sense, you must be finding all sort of things sneaking up on you. Tanks, liberators, snowmen...
Its for real and its usually a ********* BR100. Its exactly like you stated...they pop in like a warp and aimbot headshot. Notice the higher your BR, the more you see this. They will pull up the hack radar and go for higher BRs for the extreme kill exp. Don't blame ya for canceling. Waterson is full of Hackzers. You'll know the outfits that are full of them...they could care less about alerts or going on offences. They only hang out in bio labs and towers that are faction controlled.
I have similar do to a lag once in a while. I was killed by an HA that walked up in front of me and rendered just as he/she started firing. The closest corner they could have came around was about 7-10 (guessing) away. EdIt: Likely lag on my side as others around me didn't have an issue.
Have said it before and will say it again, there are no where near as many people hacking/cheating as crying posts on these forums would have you believe, in nearly every case it was perfectly legitimate and the victim simply never knew how they got him/her and are far too quick to point fingers accusing others of cheating. Every game has a small percentage of players that cheat so the fact you might be able to google something for PS2 means nothing as you can do this for any game ever made. SOE has done a good job reducing the amount of people cheating from early days seeing lots to hardly ever seeing any now and since no one here posting works for SOE I don't see how any of you would know what goes on behind the scenes to accuse SOE of doing nothing about it.
I'd also add that because a site advertises that it sells hacks which SOE can't detect, doesn't mean that it does. Given the nature of hacking, any claims made by anyone trying to peddle them should be taken with a pinch of salt. There will always be hacks in any game, but don't let paranoia get the better of you.
Except you don't get cool stuff when subscribing.... And hackers take the joy out of ruining other funs or taking good players down a peg. Or rather skip the difficulty of getting the good equipment. Like in DayZ
I doubt it was the teleport hack. Those people tend to get banned after at most a few hours of play. I've seen that hack exactly once, on Connery, after a year of play. I was outdoors on a hill with two friendly VS in front of me, when suddenly a Scat MAX appeared out of thin air next to one guy, blam, then he teleported to the other guy, blam, then disappeared. I was sure he was going to get me too, but I never saw him again.
