General Thoughts and Constructive Criticism

    Please, just make up your minds already. So VS have no bullet drop on automatic weapons, but massive quantities of bullet drop on guns that no bullet drop would actually be useful on?
    (Eidolon, XM98, Ghost, Parallax, V10) AND our MBT cannon has bullet drop equivalent to Wraiths in Halo?

    Just make up your damn minds already. Either give the VS "no bullet drop" on EVERYTHING, or remove the "no bullet drop" trait from Vanu entirely and give them a trait that is actually worthwhile. I'm sick of "LOLNO BULLET DROP" being an excuse for us to get absolutely **** weapons since the Phasesh!t was added, and being nerfed incessantly since launch.

    Also, bullet velocity. Apparently the Planetside 2 universe follows the same rules as the Star Wars universe, seeing as bullets move faster than plasma/lasers. Seriously? If you're going to make our shots slow, at least GIVE US NO BULLET DROP ON LONG RANGE WEAPONS! The Phaseshift has it, and it's not OP, so I really don't have any idea why the other snipers still have bullet drop.

    How about we get interesting weapons, as well? We have no "High DPS" or "High Alpha" trait, so why not give us weapons that are ultraspecialized BUT the best in their fields? OR, just give us highly adaptable and interesting weapons. For example, instead of getting chargeup mechanics on everything including our damn PISTOLS, why can't we have guns which fire rounds that can travel through multiple enemies, or hitscan, but low damage lasers, or continuous beam weapons?

    The current state of the VS is TERRIBLE and BORING. We have the NC and TR, which have high damage and fire rate respectively, and the VS get chargeups.

    This game is supposed to have ASYMMETRICAL BALANCE, and what we have now is BF4 with big maps and different colored tracers. We can definitely fix this, but if we listen to COD kids and BF4 scrubs, THIS GAME WILL NEVER BE GOOD!

    In addition, let me touch upon something else I enjoy talking about. Infantryside 2. Infantry already have the ability to instagib any tank solo, kill tanks from outside render range, and take next to no damage from HEAT shells, so why exactly are we nerfing tanks versus infantry? Earlier today my driver in a full AV Vanguard was fleeing from a lone bunnyhopping light assault trying to C4 us. We couldn't get a single hit in, so I had to hop out of the tank and shoot him with my little AF-19 carbine. Do you understand how stupid that is? A tank gunner having to GET OUT OF A TANK, a 30-ton metal behemoth, abandoning his AT railgun dart launcher thing, to shoot a little carbine at a foot soldier. This is terrible, and needs to be fixed.

    I understand the problem of tanks "farming" infantry, but the problem with this is the fact that infantry are expecting infantry to kill a specialized anti-infantry tank. What the infantry should be doing is pulling a vehicle, AND KILLING THAT DEFENSELESS TANK. An AI tank will NEVER beat an anti vehicle tank. STOP BEING TERRIBLE AND ADAPT!

    Final point is a small one, but still rather important. The toxic state of the game's community as a whole. Whenever I kill somebody with any weapon that requires "no skill" (like flash kobalt, SMG infiltrator or Lasher X2) I get a hate tell telling me to go stick a jet turbine where the sun don't shine. I always reply to these with "Please, pull a vehicle to counter my specialized AI weaponry". This is generally met with a person saying something like "I'd rather kill myself IRL."

    This is terrible. This is horrible, bad, awful, terrible, and terribad. If a community is so unwilling to adapt, it will die, just like the dinosaurs or the Federalist Party. Please, stop catering to COD kiddies just playing this game while waiting for Call of Duty - Halo ODST Edition, and start focusing on gamers who will support you and play a true game.

    This thread... Brought tears to my eyes. Let's hope a SOE janitor looks at it, maybe Higby will reward the janitor for his supreme intelligence. I mean, sure, TR get fast RoF, NC get big guns (That honestly don't feel so BIG), but VS just have large purple bullets that show your enemies where you are. It would be sick if the NC got their large guns to fight us, and once they reach the gates of Quartz Ridge, a thousand beams of particled energy prepare to meet them, and they KNOW: The enemy they are facing is truly like no other. You got my vote, bro.

    High alpha is high damage per shot. Like a pump-action slug. It deals 800 damage per shot up to 10 meters. That is very high.

    Eidolon has bullet drop?

    Some useful ranged VS weapons still have no bullet drop: Spectre, Phantom, Nyx, Artemis, Phaseshift, Saron and the almighty PPA.

    I tested it in VR. Eidolon indeed has bullet drop.

    Well, they could just give you a weapon with a unique damage tier on every infantry category and call it a day. Which is pretty much what they did with the NC. Because that's pretty much what NC's trait for infantry weapons boils down to; a handful of weapons with the 200 damage tier and a slight favoring of 167 damage tier, but every faction has at least one of those. Otherwise, it's the same generic weapons that the other factions have access to. The only noticeable and actually utilized trait, for any faction, is the TR's magazine sizes.

    Other than shotguns-on-every-possible-platform, that is.

    I don't even know most of the nuts and bolts stuff he was ranting about. I just derp mostly, but this was a fun read. This part though had me literally laughing and he is totally right. One of the best rants I have read in a while. Bravo!

    I like the format of your post and how you brought up these concerns in a valid comparison with other factions.

    One cannot make sense of gameplay changes. They are arbitrary.

    Some changes are based on a weapon performance paradigm that has so many variables as to make it laughable. I would be fired if I presented an analysis plan such as that.

    Other changes are based on forum tears. Tears shed by people that no longer play; but their stinker "balance" ideas remain a stain on the game.

    Don't make sense of it. You can't. Just try to enjoy the game until something more pure comes, or you no longer have fun.

    Looking at vanu carbines with respect to NC and TR carbines...
    ~ lowest damage per magazine
    ~ generally shortest long reloads, fast reloads are tied with NC on some points.
    ~ highest velocity disregarding outliers (560 razor), but not by much (515 compared to NC 500, TR 490)
    ~ lowest vertical recoil, middle of the road horizontal recoil.
    ~ shortest dropoff range

    ARs...
    ~ lowest damage per magazine
    ~ shortest reloads
    ~ best moving ADS CoF
    ~ generally higher velocity than most other comparable ARs on other factions.
    ~ lowest vertical recoil, middle of the road horizontal recoil.
    (I've heard the general opinion is that VS AR options are bad)

    LMGs...
    ~ damage per magazine is lower in some cases due to an abundance of 75 round magazines instead of 100, but seeing as these are lmgs it isn't such a big deal
    ~ shortest reloads
    ~ only have 0.4 moving ADS CoF, no 0.35
    ~ lowest vertical recoil, middle of the road horizontal recoil
    ~ two 0.75 ADS movespeed options
