General Priorities Question

After a number of months of enduring Forumside (and oh so painful it's been at times) I have seen perhaps the same four or five threads iterated on ad nauseam. ZOE, more generalized balance gripes, infiltrators, hacks, and bugs, with a dash of "y no SC sazles?" for good measure.

This is not one of those threads!

The one thing Forumside appears to agree on is this game is not complete. Obviously, no MMO ever is, but what I mean is in a more general sense than "they've finished production." At the moment the core game is a team deathmatch that moves from base to base, only given direction by either overwhelming player initiative or alerts (which for reasons unfathomable to myself people want to get rid of).

Obviously, the devs have grander visions for the game than a giant TDM, but right now if you aren't engaged by core shooting/driving/flying mechanics there is little reason to continue playing.

My question to you, forumside, is what you want the most. And no, "ZOE NERFAAS!" is not an acceptable answer. What I mean is, do you want balance (in a broad sense, with a macro look at not just empires but geography)? Do you want additional content (Hossin)? Do you want a more structured competitive system (Battle Islands/MLG-ish stuff)? Do you want current content iterated on (class/vehicle overhauls, new weapons/base redesigns)? More cosmetics? An achievement/title/game-based unlock system of sorts?

While people seem to decry the competitive play initiative, it seems like that may be the easiest way to retain high-level players who might be tempted by competitors such as Battlefield. A lot of people want Hossin released, but considering the usual state of Amerish I'm not sure if more real estate without continent locks is actually a good idea.

Ideally we want all of those things, realistically we might get one while balance gets small iterative tweaks, but my question stands: what is the most important thing for the devs to do in order for you/your outfit to continue playing? If you're being honest with yourselves, what do you think will be the best thing in the short term for the long term health of the game?

Personally I think achievements should be a high priority. It seems low-effort compared to other initiatives, and if Xbox and Steam have taught us anything people love digital gold stars. After that, continent locking would finally give the eternal territory struggle something worth fighting over, assuming the islands were anywhere near complete (I wouldn't even care if they just made one and copied it three times).

Also a re-release might help, now that the game is approximately where it should've been last year (not trying to be overly critical, but O:MFG should never have been a post-launch initiative).

The purpose of this thread is to get some sense of the community's sentiment (though this is likely the vocal minority) in one place, rather than a series of the same tired threads. Also to bring some perspective: where do you want energy expended, your one complaint or a potential game-saving system.

Edit: I also realize that many of these things aren't mutually exclusive: they have multiple groups working on multiple things, base design =/= weapon balance, but let's suspend our disbelief for a bit.

Id love to see a resource limit added to this game. IE, a base only gets 1000 respawns before needing an ANT run to resupply it. Yeah, a boring supply chain addition. It would prolly not be quite so boring, needing to defend them in different parts of the map. It would break up the monotonous base hopping campaign this game currently is.

Gal AMS mode added back, just give it a much, much bigger deploy limit zone.

Id love to see Tanks become fearsome weapons of war. Increasing the Blast radius of the guns. Reduce armor a bit though, the armor buffs were a bit much overall.

Fix the MANA AV and its OPness, make it not wire guided? Lessen it's effective range to 250m maybe? Give it a longer reload timer? Add an ammo limit to it? Id love an ammo limit on all guns, Phalanx included. Unlimited ammo is very, very...CoD...

Also, a cosmetic over haul of the NC weaponry so they dont all look the same, IE, an M60 look to the EM6. Make the Anchor look maybe L86LMG ish, with a bullpup design. Add some Bullpup designs to the ARs and Carbines.

You are DA, and so everything you said, I didn't read it. Elitist spawn-room warrior *******!

Ender's Christmas wish list = Outfit progression, Hossin.

While I appreciate the beginning of your response, I want to avoid specific balance gripes. So for example, considering the generally accepted broken nature of the AV turret, we could probably just say "combined arms balance".

As for the NC weaponry, that would certainly be iterating on current content. Maybe specifically faction flavor, but making existing gameplay more engaging. This could be through audio/visual revisions, adding weather, etc.

    Deggy's Christmas list:

    Resource Revamp
    Outfit Progression
    Galaxy Update
    A Pony
    Tank-v-Infantry Balance

I miss logistics being an element of strategy in Planetside. Currently there are sunderers and--well. Just that. If you want to get fancy you can use ammo sunderers as an example, to support armour columns. What I'm getting at is what KnightCole mentioned in his first few sentences. ANTs added a level of depth to facility capture and defense which lead to epic battles in the actual field. Battles between complexes that mattered a great deal as opposed to just clashing zergs. That, in combination with the intercontinental locking system we keep hearing about, should breathe new life into the war on Auraxis

I would like the game to become more player friendly. There are a few frustrating things which are negative to player access.. For examples: allow spawning anywhere spawn rooms are available, bring back the old 'select your target' instant action. Change the resource system so you just have one pool of resources that you draw from for all vehicles. Things like this make the game feel less convoluted. There are other enhancements which will help like improving platoon management or enhancing voice communications., but these feel like a different type of performance enhancement.

Really I hope that the main gain that we get out of omfg will be more streamlined client updates that will not result in game breaking glitches.
