Game freezes at "Loading - 100%" since GU4

Since GU4 I haven't been able to play more than 30 minutes, often no more than a couple lives, before the game locks up on me. It always happens when the loading is complete at 100% after a respawn or redeploy. The game appears to freeze, but I can still hear audio and voice chat until I kill the process via task manager but nothing will unfreeze the loading screen.

Anyone have any ideas or experience with the same problem? Was hoping the last two hot fixes would work but I'm stuck, just getting nips of double XP in between crashes. Never had a crash before.

I've had it happen to me twice since the update. I've put a good amount of game play in since the update, so it's no where near as prominent as yours, but it has happened.

Also having this problem. I was able to play yesterday morning with no issues. I can load into game, but once I go to join a squad and deploy with them, that transition is where it freezes at 100%. I can still hear all the squad members speaking with voice over, but I am unable to get past this screen.

For those affected by this issue, run your Planetside 2 Launchpad and log in, but do not press play. Click on the Advanced Tools icon (looks like a hexagon surrounding a wrench) in the lower left and then choose the option to open game directory. In the window/folder that comes up, locate and delete the following files

    PlanetSide2.exe
    ActivityUserData.ini
    LaunchPad-user.ini
    LoadingScreen.xml
    InputProfiles.xml
    SoundSettings.xml
    UserOptions.ini
    vivoxoal.dll
    vivoxsdk.dll

Once these files are deleted, close the Planetside 2 window/folder and go back to the Launchpad > Advanced Tools/Settings menu. Click on the Validate Game Assets menu option and then press the green Validate button to have the Launchpad check your game files, and download any missing or corrupt files.

Please make sure that you have launchpad.exe, awesomiumprocess.exe, and planetside2.exe added as exceptions in any Firewall/Anti-Virus software you currently are running in order to ensure that the game will run correctly with this kind of software running in the background.

If your problems persist, I'd suggest submitting a ticket thru our support system so we can gather information and give solid suggestions to get you back into the game - instructions to submit a ticket can be found in my signature.

Thanks for you quick response, Jesse! This pointed me in the right direction and I got the issue fixed, with no crashes for several hours of play.

I noticed when checking my firewall permissions that Windows Firewall had turned itself back on, as well as several features I disabled when I re-installed Windows a couple of months ago such as the desktop window transparency effects and UAC pop-ups. I wish I knew what causes such system setting rollbacks, since this is far from the first game requiring some tinkering in the last decade to become temporarily out-of-commission due to seemingly spontaneous permission changes or Windows Firewall turning itself on.

Thanks once again for the fast service, and I hope this solution works for the others having the same problem.

Not a problem at all - I'm glad you were able to get back to a stable game-play experience. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

I have the same problem, including with being able to still hear voice chat while the screen is just frozen at 100%. I tried the solution above but to no avail. Something else I can try?
