Framerate drop when I get out of an ESF?

One of the things I do often is fly my ESF to a landing pad, hop out, and repair. I've noticed that most of the time, for the first few seconds after I get out, my framerate drops into the 30s. (Normally it's pegged around 60). The last time I checked, PS2 claimed it was bottlenecked on CPU at th etime.

I can't figure out why this action is triggering framerate drops, and I'm not sure what settings to play with to fix it.

Currently running with pretty much everything maxed out to High/Ultra on my i5 3570k@stock speeds and GTX 760.

Any ideas on what could be causing this slowdown and what settings to play with to fix it?

This problem started when they did OMFG and changed the effects and particles. Its the dust/heat distortion from the plane being on the pad.

Make sure your drivers and in game settings are configured properly. Heres a guide to doing it.

You can run on ultra easily if i can. You can turn down the effects and particles if you want. I just try not to land much.

Also if youre using 1920x1080 over HDMI or Display Port you should read this. If youre using DVI or a different resolution ignore this.

    So it's a particle issue?

I can try messing with the particles settings. I don't understand how either of the threads you linked are relevant to this particular issue though.

The landing pad is either particles or effects. I leave it all on ultra with my 660ti. It does it with rockets as well.

The first thread is a comprehensive guide i wrote to help people properly configure their Nvidia drivers and in game settings because there are a lot of potential conflicts that arise that lead to stuttering.

For example having Vsync enabled in the drivers and the game causes CONSTANT stutter on single GPUs, which normally dont stutter at all.

Also having texture quality set to default in this game makes it incredibly blurry.

Having driver level non adaptive Vaync with smoothing will keep you at 30fps regardless of your GPU. Etc.

Its one of a few guides i have written to help people get rid of the issues caused by a lot of the default settings.

The second thread is a guide about an issue that ANYONE using Nvidia or Intel GPUs with ANY "TV resolution" over HDMI or DP is affected by. Since 1920x1080 over HDMI is a common resolution and i saw you had a 760 i figured id include it as additional information IF you fall into that category. Figured you might want to know if youre not in the right color space, as ive found a lot of people are.

They dont realize it and misconfigure their monitors to compensate. Once they fix it its a night and day difference.
