I found a nice way to use the Aegis shield to defend points. It only really works for inside points like Point A of most towers, but It's pretty effective. Simply crouch down in a corner where your back and sides are covers with the shield up. When the enemy comes to take the point, 9/10 times they will unload on you, either out of reflex or trying to break your shield. When they go to reload, simply unshield and hit um with the hacksaws. It took 3 heavy's roughly 4-5 tries to take me down using this "Turtling" method, even when trying to use C4 and Rockets (crouching helps to reduce your splash area, so your shield takes the damage it seems) It finally took them pulling 2 lockdowned Fracture MAXes to take me out, but by then it was took late. This is extremely situational of course, any more enemies, or if they'd have thought to pull the MAXes sooner, I'd have gone down much faster, but it most definitely is something to work with. I tend to roll kinetic armor, but did the explosives they use ever directly damage you, even a little with your flak armor? I could see that being more useful since once I pop the shield they'll probably use explosives to try and bypass it.
They should have left the original version of the shield i mean it covered the whole hithox of the Max and it had double HP,
I've used this a couple times too. I've actually shielded a few C4 blasts with it. The only thing that annoys me is that an enemy heavy can unload his LMG into your shield and bring it down in one mag. The shield should probably get a bit more resistance to small arms fire. My Setup: Dual scattercannons, R3 Aegis shield, R5 flak armor.
It can if it hits you just right, but it's not very likely. The shield doesn't cover your entire body, and if the explosive hits an exposed area it'll do full damage. It's a hard shot to hit but I've had it happen to me a few times in the hours I've been playing around with the shield.
Rank 5 aegis will laugh at that LMG. Also, unloading a full LMG clip generally takes a while, you or your teammates should be killing him long before your shield.
Why don't you just shoot them when they walk in? This is how useless the aegis is. People struggle to find uses for the thing and this is the best they can do.
i've soaked up the rounds of a whole squad of enemies while my allies sneaked around to shoot them in the back, i've absorbed "surprise!" rockets to the face of heavies running round the corner that'd have blown half your health off. i've covered a medic while they rezzed up an ally. if you can't think of a use for colossal damage absorption then you haven't thought about it very much.
Yeah, the LMG thing happened to me before R3 Aegis. At rank 3, they can still do it, but it takes practically their whole mag. I'm upgrading the shield ASAP . . . Which is now, because I just earned 750 certs defending BioLabs
