These forums are an absolute cesspool with the constant demands for nerfs and outright ridiculous game mechanics suggestions - one of the worst game communities I've seen in a long time

It's like the Yelp Effect or something. Only those who have something to complain about will write anything. Everyone else is content to play so it seems like everyone is complaining on the boards.

If SOE is smart they are doing what all marketing businesses do; they maintain the forums as a way to 'appear' to listen to the userbase, but any business worth a grain of salt will NOT listen to the users of a forum.

You don't find success by appealing to the niche, and the forum is usually where the niche players hang out.
