If everyone did things this way, problems would never be fixed and no game would ever be improved. Yes, it can be annoying, but player feedback is important.

Also, you seem to have this strange idea that people anonymously whining on the internet have some kind of power. You call people "crybullies" as if you believe posting one's opinion amounts to coercion. There is literally nothing stopping the PS2 devs from just not reading what people post. No one is being bullied.

I just want them to have:

    • The Recon Drone
    • Vehicle Hacking
    • Access to the Battle Rifle
    Thats all.

You are speaking (writing) a tonne of truth. The above sentence is Golden Truth. I've written about that many times here.

Sadly, one has to realize that most of the 'nerf it all' crowd here can't even be bothered to learn and use simple (1st grade) grammar and simple punctuation in a simple medium. That alone is too much for them to handle. I am accounting for the non-english speakers as well.

Having them grasp high-level concepts like game design beyond "my gun good! your gun bad!" is a lost cause I'm afraid.

    FTFY ;)

As for the achievement v. entitlement discussion going on, I have the answer.

It will never go away. End of story.

Original EQ, into Kunark Era, was HARD. Corpses rotted (losing all of your items permanently if you did not recover it in time), there was no real fast travel (Pay a Druid or Wizard, eventually a Bard to RUN YOU ACROSS THE CONTINENT?) raid took actual days of playing time. Dying was a big deal.

    Eventually, this changed. Why?

Mainstream appeal. In order to be popular, profitable, and competitive in the market, you must cater to the lowest common denominator. End of story.

There will always be niche high-skill hard-mode only games. And they will always be tiny, because human beings are playing them, and there's only so many heroes in the world.

DeadlyOmen's argument is basically nonsense and I wouldn't even waste your time debating it.
  6. JustBoo

Correct Chief. Don't debate someone or something that absolutely reveals the Crybaby / Crybully behavior for what it is. Nope, just post a petulant 'retreat' and go home. Nice. Very nice.

    Wrong.

His argument is that in a game without "immutable physics" players cannot judge what, if anything, needs to be changed. And anyone who says otherwise is a biased "crybully". Real mature....

Then in another thread, he clearly indicated he was upset about the HA shield changes.

So basically he invalidated his own point and is being hypocritical to boot. If we, as players, cannot make judgements due to the lack of "immutable physics, then how can he say for a fact this change is wrong? Apparently only HE is fit to make these determinations.

Also because of the extreme way he's formed his argument, there really isn't any way to "debate" it on it's merits. I mean..it's so absurd.

    Recon drone is fine
Vehicle Hacking would be a god aweful addition to this game
Battle Rifle i really dont care about if they get it or not scout rifle is better anyway.
  9. Azawarau

    In fairness

I dont have anything better to do and have a bad habit of exploring peoples thought process

I disagree on vehicle hacking, at least as far as sunderer terminal hacking. I really think that should be a thing, but also each terminal is independent.

You're unwilling to defend the sundy you pulled? Then you lose it unless you get an INF to reclaim the terminals. That's fair to me.

If an INF can hack a sundy terminal and live, he deserves a medal.
  11. NXR1

A deployed sundy makes sense but on say a lightning tank, what are you gonna hack, gonna rewire its metal to open up for you? You would have to find a way to cut into its armored plates to get to the actual wiring and circuit boards to have anything to hack.

I mean wireless hacking does exist, but I don't know if it exists in Planetside ;)

    Just ask unlucky bluetooth users.

I was just posting in another thread - maybe not hack an occupied vehicle, but stealing an unoccupied vehicle? Sign me up. You'd only end up TK'd anyway, lol.

But you could do wonders "infiltrating" in a stolen Vanguard, Prowler, Maggie, etc.

Not saying I'm for or against the idea, but we have Nanites in the game. So that's what's doing the "hacking". Nanites would be pretty much impossible to defend against.

Where would you get the training to use this vehicle youve never even seen the inside of, hacking NS vehicles id be for but empire specifics is a no go.
  15. Savadrin

Come now, you think that vehicle, tank, and gun controls differ all that much?

Aside from that, commandeered vehicles and tech is commonplace. And if you can learn all of your ES weapons magically with no training, you can learn the other ones just the same ;)

How badass could infiltrators become if we could headshot the engineer who is repairing and then steal his tank?!

    The glory!

    I agree with Azawarau.

But I also agree with Scr1nRusher that many people *think* "balance" is lobbying for changes that benefit them. And arguably the sheer volume of its use in this capacity has warped the word to (at least in part) carry that meaning.

I don't agree with DeadlyOmen on his above statement. But I can give some support (based on Scr1nRusher's statement) to his statement below.

(see above for my reference to this quote)
