Flight Controls Changes - Need Feedback

    Good things first:
    I like how pitch handles with small and slow mouse movements, it feels more responsive than it does on live. It would be nice if it stayed this way. There is still a jump in responsiveness between very slow and just slow mouse movement (you get a sudden bump in sensitivity as you move the mouse faster). If that was smoothened out, it would be perfect.

    But large/quick mouse sweeps have what feels like a lot of negative acceleration. It seems even more punishing than on live. Can you please consider looking into removing this negative accel which occurs when one moves the mouse too fast (faster than required for maximum turn rate). It makes you turn slower instead, which is clunky and counter-intuitive.

    Yaw adjustment feedback:
    Yaw is still very unresponsive. The keys seem "sticky", Eg just tapping A yields inconsistent results, sometimes the ESF will barely react, other times it will turn much more than it should. "Counter-yaw", which is basically tapping the opposite yaw key to instantly stop turning doesn't work at all. For example if you hold A to turn left, release it and tap D to stop turning, the ESF will ignore that and continue turning for a split second, overshooting the spot you wanted to aim at. This has to be fixed.

    Just. Don't. Please please please do not put these changes on live.

    I regret that I renewed my membership this week, I'm about 95% sure at this point that this is it, that I will be done with this game and your company forever.

    I've seen this developer crew make change after change that no one asked for and no one wanted, that only made the game worse. So I hold out very little hope that you'll come to your senses. But I'm telling you, years into the game you cannot change fundamental mechanics and say f you to your longest lasting players.

    I have auraxium'd galaxy on Emerald, and I can safely say I enjoy the new flight mechanics of the galaxy (I CAN NOT SPEAK FOR ANY OTHER VEHICLE) because the galaxy feels more agile and smooth. The only complaint I have is that the vehicle flight sensitivity should not be connected to vehicle aiming sensitivity. I would be very annoyed if I had to switch my sensitivity every time I switched between gunning and flying.

    Yeah you adjusted it. But yaw was slow, really slow. Now it's almost 0.
    The only way to turn an ESF now sideways is to roll then pitch. Which is awfull, if someone is escaping in a spiral you can't hit him. As I was already doing before with the yaw speed the way it was, now if the enemy doesn't have coyotes i'll be able to escape with barely any effort. And if the enemy does the same I wont be able to hit him. Try again. :D

    The problem that I had was that it seems when I make large sweeping movements it is a bit sluggish. Small moves seem to work fine though.

    I Dont like flying in PS2, maybe to tricky for me..
    To fly on the testserver with the new steering, is not better. :confused:

    I got no crashes on testserver on ultra grafics. but character, turrets arms of the max are flickering.

    i had to use an existing character because game closes when trying to sign in with a new character

    lastly i canot spawn because the game freezes when trying to spawn in the loading screen

    "We appreciate how passionate this pilot community is and how much time you've all put in to be a good pilots and we don't want to ruin that."

    Well, if you implement these new Flight Controls on Live you will completely ruin that. And why do you need our feedback if you will not revert this?

    pd: Yaw now is even worst than yesterday. It keeps having the input lag, it's not responsive and it's too slow

    Fells really weird. Pitch down and up have a slight delay and at some point just don't even work. At some point aim fells much better it terms of precision and control, but in other situation its just doesn't fell right and I miss every shot because delay in my movement. After 2h i get used to it, but its not that experience that i really expect.

    This was hard to review since I fly very rarely.
    However, reading the opinions, I have to agree with most of the people here, especially Dreckschwein and davidr64 (thus, I'm referring to the details they've given).
    It really does feel as "weird" as they describe it.

    What I would point out is when raising or lowering your altitude, upon releasing the button, the aircraft still moves for an extended amount of time. Not a big deal in Dogfights, but Air to Ground may find this annoying. But this is not related to Mouse control.
    Also, a tiny bug, where freelook still makes you move your aircraft.

    Other than that, it actually feels more free to me. But then again, what do I know about flight if I'm the guy in Skyguard all day?

    Perhaps make the two mechanics an option for players, so nobody gets "hurt"?

    Right now, the PTS is VS only.

    They locked Koltyr. My PTS pcharacter is on Koltyr, spawns automatically at login in the middle of knowhere and when I die or redeploy, I can't spawn anymore. Even on other continents that are not locked.

    Could you make it so nobody can lock Koltyr ?
    It seems a poor way of greeting new players to say them 'People before you could not defend this tiny island, you can't respawn'.

    I still cant fly in PS2. :(
    The default keybindig is horrible, and the mouse control is so different (and weird) from other flying games that i cant use it.

    Many People, some goof Pilots say stop it, dont chance it for PS4 gamer..
    We play on PC server, PS4 gamer play other Server with other Game cooding.

    Why u wanna make that for PC gamers? Leav us with this PS4 ****.

    If u need real Feedback from Pilots, ask on the Live server, in Yellchat.
    Many people don`t look at this Forum

    If u want to know why don`t chance, look my Videos on twitch, it says enought.
    U kill awesome Fly, and with it, the spirit of that game

    If you're not going to listen to the community begging you for a choice then why are you even asking for our input? As for my thoughts on the changes, I tested them in the early AM before the patch and after the patch in the afternoon, they were bad at first and feel worse after. I was flying a scythe with racer frame and it takes almost two whole seconds of holding down pitch for my scythe to hit full pitch, while on live it's instant. I can't perform evasive maneuvers anymore at all because every input I perform barely registers or takes several seconds to do anything worthwhile, so if i'm rapidly changing directions in combat or performing a helical evasive pattern I'll frequently lose all control of the aircraft as my controls totally 0 out and I'll either lose track of my target or crash. I was able to make this happen even on live server on occasion, while punching the afterburners, but on test I can do it just by holding pitch up and hover down while yawing even at low speeds. It's awful and when combined with the other acceleration issues makes controlling a scythe impossible. I am now totally unable to perform any "advanced" air maneuvers what so ever and my come about times are much higher than they used to be as well. I can maintain target better than before because the adjustments have made fine movement of the mouse more responsive, the problem is it's literally impossible to even bring your crosshair to bear long enough on a target on test for this to be of any meaning. I felt like I was flying through thick soup the entire time I was on test. If it goes live in this state with all the acceleration issues we're having now and pitch control as sluggish as it is (not to mention key press pitch being overridden by mouse movement, making it literally not worth using if you're gonna try and roll or change directions at all), I'm done bothering trying to fly in this game, and that might be it for planetside for me for good if I don't find a new niche. I've got aurax lumifiber finished on my scythe with 14 days of flight time in a scythe, and I've been teaching people how to fly for ages to keep the air game alive. I sincerely hope you guys get this fixed before it goes live, because as is there was very little wrong with how flight controls worked, and in it's current state the changes are game breaking

    Ok, so i tried it out again in a reaver just now and here's the thing:
    When just flying around trying some maneuvers it feels off, but you could get the impression that it's not soooo bad (which was the basic essence of my first post on page 1). But when you go and actually try to dogfight somebody in a proper hover fight, you realize IT'S COMPLETELY BROKEN! not even remotely close to how it is on live. Almost everthing feels completely off and inconsistent. It seems like the inertia varies all the time depending on how long your input was or something. Worst thing is probably the yaw, which seems to have a some input delay. also, like already said in my first post, the yaw movement continues AFTER the button is released and actually accelerates before it stops. but this only happens when the input was longer than maybe 0,3 seconds, making tracking targets, where you have to tap yaw alot, almost impossible.
    Maximum pitch rate seems also way slower than on live, while the pitch sensitivity seems alot higher. But again, the inertia seems to be inconsistent, so the amount of movement that your ESF will do after the input stops depends on how long that input was given, at least that was my impression. same goes for rolling. so alltogether you have complete inconsistent movement on all axes, making proper dogfighting a huge pain.
    Also the inertia on ascending seems to be increased alot, so when you want to do descend/ascend dodging, which is the key to porper hover fighting, you will not actually descend before you hit ascend again when you do it in the same rythm your are used to from live.

    Another thing: right now all the continents except koltyr are completely empty, while koltyr is super crowded. so when you want to try out the controls in an actual fight, you have to go to koltyr. But there, the three hexes are full of AA / lockons and ppl in EFS that have obviously no idea about flying who will gank you 3v1 in no time with A2A lock ons and coyotes... so there is no way of proper testing for a longer time, cause you're out of nanites super quick.
    So please make another testing event, maybe after the next set of (hopefully BIG) changes to the flight controls on PTS that is not tied to koltyr and without giving away a helmet, because then you will get mostly ppl that actually care about the air game and not a helmet, who will mostly also have a lot of experience flying and therefore can give much better and more precise feedback.

    So if you really plan on making the new controls exactly feel like the ones on live now and refuse to just implement a second input sheme like suggested countless times now allready, PLEASE please please take the time necessary for that and don't rush it.
    Because this:
    sounds a lot like you give us this weekend to give some feedback, than will adjust what you feel like adjusting and than throw it in our faces on live, no matter how WE actually feel about it then.
