This has been an issue since beta, and it only seems to be getting worse. After the mini-hotfix today to fix tank guns, I logged in and I was getting the flashing screen from the start. Normally it goes away after a few minutes, six or seven at the most. Today it was still going after 15 minutes, a real headache-inducing experience. I relogged (twice) and it didn't help at all. I'm assuming most of you have experienced/heard of this glitch, because everyone I've spoken to has seen it at some point. If this isn't the case I'll upload a video tomorrow.
I have the exact same problem now.. I had it time to time, before, (rarely).. But since that hotfix for the tank guns, a half hour ago, I can't get it to go away. I am trying a few different things and I will update you if I find a fix... Otherwise the game is literally unplayable.. I can deal with guns that fire blanks.. but when I cant even see the ground or buildings or anything.. That is just too much glitchyness.. I really hope they fix this.. I just bought 1500 station cash on Friday... and now this is how they repay me?? I cant play the game?? ****.. Well I am off to see if I can fix this.. I will let you know if I find a quick fix..
Hey, I have this issue aswell but not all the time Actually after last update I think it happens much less, but sometimes game start freezing... Och and I have a problem, that game stops at all for about 1min.. If no one kills me at that time - its fine Phenom II X4 810, 8GB DDR3, HD4870 512MB DDR5.
Ok I promiced I would get back to you if I found a quick fix.. and it seems I have found one (worked for me) Just go into your planetside 2 game folder and delete (or rename) Useroptions.ini Let the game build a new one when you start the game back up.. And hope that works. It worked perfectly for me! quick and easy!
I have had this since I got the game. It went away until these new updates and now it is back and much worse than before. it makes the game highly unplayable and irritating.
Here we go again. This time I happened to be recording before it started. The flashing begins at 0:09 and at 0:38 it gets a lot worse. I get one frame of landscape every few seconds.
Still pretty much every day. Has anyone seen the devs acknowledge this bug recently? It's become a lot worse (for me, at least) since GU02.
Try switching from fullscreen to windowed mode and back and wait/look around for ~ 10 seconds. This has fixed the flickering bug for me almost every time in the last month or so since I read a post recommending it, but I'm not sure if it works for everyone. Good luck.
Still going on after GU03.. gerd daym et. I'll try this next time. Still, I'm surprised SOE hasn't found a fix for a half-year old bug.
I don't facing this bug a week now. But I can say, switch the windows can get back at least 50% of FPS loss of the memory lack.
It really is disappointing that a professional gaming company, taking players' money, can't fix a bug they've had for eight or nine months. Still getting this bug, as are a few of my friends.
