So either I am the crazy one who hasn't tried the Konami code to get access to this weapon again or... Oh man, you don't know the Konami code? Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, B, A (select.if two players ) start. Anyone who says they beat Contra without it is lying. Man I hope some other people get that.
The flamethrower was removed at the very end of beta. I think it was literally removed along with beta. Because when I played a week before launch, I still had my twin flamers. God I loved those things.... They were pretty much worthless compared to any other weapon in the game, but there's just something intimidating about a big NC max storming into a room and throwing fire everywhere.
This does sound like a dated description written up a while back. Several things don't ring true with the actual ingame state of the MAX. Charge doesn't just go forward for example you can run in circles super fast lol.
My guess is that the dev's have no clue about the state of max units. Look at the NC max. All in all it's the most useless/least versatile max and they attempt to make up for it by making it super-OP/grief friendly at very limited range. Honestly I want the NC max from PS1 back where you could change the spread + rate of fire depending on how far away your target is.

I know the flamethrowers are coming back. I'm just miffed that they were removed at all. All they really needed in beta was a cone AoE. Other than that they were just as functional as any other weapon in the game. The sole problem was they had 0 AoE, your cursor was either on the enemy or you didn't do damage. If they simply patched in cone AoE we all coulda been playing with flamethrowers for the past two n a half months.
No it's really not...It's great and OP in those certain situations in biolabs, for example. But outside of that it's really trash. The TR Max is the best overall max, imo. I judge this based on how often I play max on each of my toons, how long I stay alive, and how many kills I get. TR does the best for me. VS and NC are probably tied. The reason for this is that the NC max is "Situationally OP, and situationally useless" whereas the VS max I find doesn't have a defining characteristic. It operates much like the TR max, but I find the dual mercy guns on the TR max to be more accurate and deadly. It doesn't have a defining characteristic other than "pew pew laser."
true the NC max with scatter cannons isnt effective outside 15 meters.........i have to agree the TR max is the most balanced for distance and power...........while the VS max is the worst, it has no unique abilities or even moderatly powerful guns our pistol can kill people faster than our max suit, and technically it doesnt shoot lasers, it fires plasma
